6xGPU_mod_1_0_0_1.7z @ DropBox

update 2016-02-06 17:10
Tested with 1x7950 + 5x290, AMD Radeon Crimson 16.1.1 Feb3 driver(Non-WHQL-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.1.1-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-Feb3)

update 2016-02-06 15:33
If 6xGPU_mod reports different driver version for AMD cards - driver is fucked up.
For me it happened when installing AMD 16.1.1 Feb3 driver(Non-WHQL-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.1.1-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-Feb3).
Windows wrote something about driver failing to install because of timeout. This happens because AMD driver gets re-installed for all the cards in the system. In some cases - user tries to install driver on card #0 -> driver installs on #0, #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 -> #1 installtion triggers #0 install ; )
Solution - install driver manually for each card.

Fucked up driver will perevent mod to operate, unless "Force" is applied. Also Win/OpenCL/ADL/etc may go mad, cause chances are that cards will use differrent configurations. In the case shown on the screenshot I'm installing 16.1.1 on top of the modded 15.12. Best way to install AMD drivers is to uninstall previous, clean registry etc and only after that install new driver.

AMD driver configuration is causing "Code 43" on 6xGPU systems.
Info there can be used for modding inf files manually.

update 2014-07-27 07:59
6xGPU_mod application
Quote
will modify AMD driver configuration stored in system registry to enable support for 6 and more GPUs.
Typically on system with a lot(5+) of GPUs only 4 or 5 will be available, remaining will show "Code 43" in Windows Device Manager.

Supported driver versions and operating systems
Any Windows and any AMD driver version should be supported in theory.

6xGPU_mod was tested on 6x290 rig running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 with 13.12, 14.4, 14.6 beta v1.0 May23, 14.7 RC1 July9 driver versions.

Beware, that now it's not .inf files, but application, so ensure that you have downloaded original file.

I've used to publish new versions and support mod on litecointalk, however since administrators disabled posts modifications there and have been involved in scrypt ASIC scam(imo), I'm openining this thread ; )

This mod is a must have if you run 6+ cards on a windows 7/8 system.  Pretty sure
this doesn't even work for WinXP

Check out his thread on litecointalk for the proof

I did test it on Windows 2003 and Windows 7, it launches does the job, tho I've know idea if successfully, cause I don't have 6xGPUs there, so I've not mentioned it in the readme.

Also this app(1.0.0.1 version) modifies according to modv3, one of the keys is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\amdkmdag\", but on older drivers there is no "amd*" keys, there is "ati*" ; ) So it prly won't work on old drivers.

Hasn't worked for me, win 8.1 x64, 14.6rc2, I still have one of the cards showing code 43 (5 out of 6 working) what am I doing wrong?

Also, do you run your rig headless, every time I unplug the monitor my teamviewer session shows a black screen, I can't see anything.

Edit: Manually merged the reg file and it seems to have worked this time, now I just need to work out the headless side of it.

What did you do exactly?
With default config(checkboxes) app won't anything - it will just create reg files for you to execute manually.
If  you check "Modify Registry" - then it will apply changes.

I'm running headless with 6x290.
What GPUs are you using?
And was the issue present before the mod?

Hi,

I have been following your thread at the litecointalk forum for some time.

I would just like to add that I used the 14.6 mods that was posted (but the link is dead) and It worked wonders on my miners.

I would like to include a link to the specific driver pack amd-catalyst-14.6-beta-v1.0-windows-may23 along with the modified INF files ready to go:

https://mega.co.nz/#!0dQDQLbQ!hOxZ8pCvJhHMYdA_XFgZHlbOxktuMi4jV2REhizChR8

I hope that its of some use for you guys! These mods have never failed getting the rigs up and running!

lbr, I'm having a similar problem on Windows 7 Home Premium. I have 6x XFX 7970s on a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 with both x1 slots pin shorted. I have tried 14.4 (moded inf files), 14.6 may 23 (app), and 14.7 july 9 (app). What happens is I either get code 43 on 1 out of 6 gpu's (it's a different gpu with each catalyst version), or my computer instantly shuts down between the windows logo screen and the Welcome screen, until I do a cold reboot, then I get code 43. I think it may be a Windows problem because I'm able to run BAMT on this rig with the 14.6 linux drivers (though I only get HW errors because I can't figure out how to install sgminer in linux properly). I've been able to install 14.6 on four 6 or 7 gpu rigs with Windows, including one rig with the same motherboard and 6x r9 270X's.

Have you tried 13.12? Or even 13.1 from techpowerup?
The problem is that 'code 43' occurs not only when driver are not configured properly(this scenario is solved by mod), but also when something else is wrong..

Whats the revision of your 990fxa-ud3?
I'm running 6x290 on x1 risers on 990fxa-ud3 rev:3.0. However I helped a guy setup 6x290 with same mobo but 4.0 revision and it din't work. Nor in Windows nor in BAMT nor in xUbuntu. Windows reported code 43, *nix hanged on boot. So there is something wrong with this mobo prly. The issue was solved by swapping one 290 with 7950..

Also, that 6x290 on 990fxa-ud3 refused to boot at all headless untill I set "Full Screen LOGO Show" to "Enabled" in BIOS - very odd.

Tho.. if u say BAMT works.. then there is deffo something wrong with Win.
Anyway, pm me TV id/pwd, maybe I will be able to find out whats going on there.

I have 4X7950+2X7990 = 8 GPUs on MSI Z77A GD55. Windows 8.1, Catalyst 14.4.

I installed the Catalyst without the Catalyst Control Centre. Then I used the Register modifier, there was no Code 43 in the device manager on any of the GPUs. However, 2-3 GPU would show 0 MHz in GPUZ. That means only 5 GPU is recognised and can mine.

Then I installed Catalyst with the control centre. I used the Register modifier, none of the GPU showed 0 MHz. They could all be used.

So, why no code 43 but showing 0 MHz?

Thanks for replying to my questions.

I checked the box for Modify Registry and ran the app, restarted the machine and still had one of the cards showing a 43 error code.  I then checked the box for Modify Registry and Force, ran the app and also merged the reg file manually then restarted and all cards were working.  I should have restarted first without merging the reg file to test properly but it had been a long day so sorry for the poor testing there.

Headless, I was running windows 7 x64 with 6x Sapphire Tri-x 290's and mining Monero but kept getting lockups with any of Claymore's miners past 3.4 so I decided to give windows 8.1 a try.  I have four of these rigs but testing on two of them, if I remove the monitor and then teamviewer in, all I get is a black screen.  This issue was present before the mod and I have read a few people stating the exact same thing - http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1wdawz/headless_windows_81_290x/ - With windows 7 I was restricted to a 640x480 teamviewer window, but at least I could see the desktop and there was just enough space to use the machine, windows 8.1 I get nothing.  I have ordered a few of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00C9UB9OK/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - as the cards only have dvi-d, hdmi and display port and all of the dvi converters I have are dvi-i > vga.  Fingers crossed.

I've seen exactly the same issue on the same mobo.
It also had GPUs dissappearing time to time after reboots - this was solved by setting PCIe gen. to 1 in BIOS instead of auto.
Prly latency was also changed, but don't remember now..

And 0MHz was caused by driver enabling Crossfire if installed without Catalyst. Was solved by isntalling Catalyst and disabling Crossfire there. GPU-Z also showed something odd about Crossfire, I don't remember now, something like not-available, which is wrong, it should be Disabled(Available).

Hm.. maybe I do have some bugs in 'Modify Registry'.. Or not.. Sadly I've not implemented reporting mod results back to me so I could find what exactly is going on.. Anyway, will check.

Yeah.. 640x480 also pisses me off. I've solved it by plugging dummy display emulator - into one of the cards ; )
This restriction comes from some mess about display detection logic and unlikely to be fixed ever.

Long and sad story how certain software and hardware manufacturers could not or didn't want to make things 'right'.

Try -
setx DISPLAY ":0"
and reboot, without this my Windows Server rigs don't work headless and both TeamViewer and some VNC servers show black screen.

Thank you for the offer to help me personally, but I feel that you are far too talented to waste your time on me. I just tried 13.12 with the same results. Both the rigs with 6 gpu's run rev 4.0 of the 990FXA-UD3. One works one doesn't. I've tried swapping in a 7950, but that didn't help. I've been properly cleaning up the drivers with one of your old instruction sets. Aside from the type of GPU's, there are only 3 other differences in the rigs: (1) this rig has 4gb of ram; the working one has 8; (2) This one has dual identical 1000 watt psu's; the working one is a single 1250 watt psu; and (3) this one is running Windows 7 Home Premium installed and activated by the previous owner; the working one is running windows 8.1. I'm thinking the last bit is the most important. Since Linux works, I really don't think it is a hardware issue. I'm going to try and borrow a hard drive and put a clean windows 8.1 install and the 14.6 may 23 drivers and will report back. I think this is an isolated case rather than a bug with your software.

try this one first, should take the least time and ram sometimes is important

Since Linux works, I really don't think it is a hardware issue.
Well, its not like hw is broken, but prly some combination of something is preventing win or driver to work properly.
Like that 6x290 on rev.4.. we never figured what is going on.. tried 32GB of RAM, all available BIOS-es, different BIOS settings, risers, etc..

Or that 'full logo show', just crazy - how exactly gigabyte logo at startup help BIOS to boot? ; )
I personally think, that GA BIOS simply does not work if GPUs report no display at all(and 290 cards do that) but 'full logo show' is bugged and ignores display info from GPUs and just outputs.. The truth is out there ; )

Ah, btw, if you have display plugged in, make sure that BIOS is visible at boot if not plug it into different card until you see it. Some mobos and later win go nuts if display is plugged into not 'init first' card.

Hi,OP.My rigs lost audio after implemented this reg mod.It acts as HTPC sometimes. Can you post one without disabling the audio?

You have 5+ GPUs in HTPC? ; )

You can edit mod reg file before importing it. For example delete all lines setting DP_DisableHBR2. That way maybe you will find the key affecting audio. Probably this one - DalNumSupportedHDMIConnections.

Since I don't use audio from GPUs and don't have any device which can use audio from GPU there is no way I can find which setting causes it.

Is there any way to do this with Nvidia 750ti cards?

I want to make sure everyone knows that I just released my software called "Yobit pump alert". THis is custom software that uses an algo to detect the start of a pump here on yobit, the second it starts. YOu can even filter the coins you see by price. Most pumps start less than 100 sats , so you can easily filter the cheap coins, so they are the only ones displayed Smiley https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945937.msg20241953#msg20241953

This post hasn't been updated in a while I'm just wondering if you are still maintaining it? OP doesn't state if 14.7 R3 is supported, so I thought I'd ask, and if newer versions will be supported as they come out? I don't even know if newer versions than 14.6 help with any hash rates, but I'd like to find out! All my rigs are 6-7 card rigs tho

OP doesn't state if 14.7 R3 is supported

OP does state this, tho -
Supported driver versions and operating systems
Any Windows and any AMD driver version should be supported in theory.

Anyway, if you try it and it won't work, I'll take a look.

I cannot make more than 8 GPU work. I tried 3x7990+3x7970. It will crash the computer. Win 8 and 8.1 were used.

GIGABYTE 990FXA UD3 motherboard, FX 8320, 4 X 2 GB RAM.
I tried prepatched drivers 14.4. Also 14.6 RC2 and patched it. Actually i have no problems running 4 X 7990 without any modded drivers. The problem comes when i install 5th 7990 which adds two more GPUs. Thes it installs driver and after restart when windows 8.1 is loading appears some kind of blue screen where is written that ATIKMPG of something like this file caused problem and windows will restart trying to fix this problem. It is always the same no matter which driver i use. Modded or not. Later i removed 5th 7990 and just disabled 2 of the cores. Then put again 5th VGA and windows started normally. When i try to enable 9th GPU windows crashes with the same blue screen with counter to restart trying to fix (atikmpag.sys) Smiley  Ok. Somebody tall me that windows have 8 GPU limitation which could not be removed. I think it is not true!!!
Today i installed two Nvidia750 Ti to check what is going on and there is no problem. 4 X 7990 which is 8 GPU and two Nvidia GPU was installed correctly and also mining at this moment! I will make screenshot later and will post it in topic! If somebody is familiar with AMD drivers please help to improve it if its possible AMD drivers to support 10 or more GPU.

It is not so difficult to start 8 AMD GPU and 2 NVIDIA and may be even more but i have to buy pci-e expander first to chek this. The only thing is that you have to connect one monitor to one of AMD cards and other to one of NVIDIA otherwise you will have problems with sgminer and msi afterburner. Windows 7 and 8 do almost same results.

And if no AMD driver is installed?
Have you tried adding more RAM?
Do you see BIOS on the monitor?

Anyway, if this is AMD driver issue, maybe I will be able to mod the driver, pm me.

Btw, what's ur motherboard revision?

Sure, however I need access to 6+GPU rig.
Mine are at remote(very) location, also they are equipped with IDE HDDs, and since modding driver requires a lot of reboots and sometimes rigs hang, it is too painfull for me.

Still no success with more than 8 AMD GPU on windows. I think kernel file makes problem, but success with 4 X 7990 and two GTX 970 plus CPU mining - all 45 Mhs on X11 !!! 8 GPU limit per windows is MYTH. This is absolutely not true!!! These days i will buy pcie expander card and will try to add three more GTX 970 Wink In windows 8.1 i did not connect any monitor like it was it windows 7. Everithing works perfect.

8+GPU works only on GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4.0 (Revision 1.2/2.0/3.0 and GYGABYTE 990FXA-UD5 which i tested have bios issue for 8+GPU). Asrock H81PRO BTC - only 7 GPU!!! I think this board have bios bug or something like that. Till now GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 Rev. 4.0 is best for support multiple GPU but do not try to switch more than 10 GPU - South bridge will die !!! 2 of my board are death now, trying to switch on 11th GPU Smiley

This file is part of AMD video driver.
When something is wrong with the hardware usually that's the driver showing as the reason of crashes/bsods.

In this case however probably the driver is causing crash cause it is buggy, or at least I hope that it is.

Using 14.9 driver.
Initially the 6th card was showing the code 43 error and after running the mod, the device got unlisted from the device manager.
Now showing only 5 cards.
Couldn't retrieve back.
Kindly help.

In case something goes wrong
By default 6xGPU_mod will create backup registry file in the current folder - launch it and reboot.

Also simply re-installing the driver should help - all changes done by the mod will be gone.
However, device disappearing from the device manager.. weird, maybe there is hardware issue.

I am having issues getting it to work in my other rig which has mixed cards. Some are 280X and some are 7970s. The other rig worked right away because they were all identical cards but this one has mixed cards and I don't know how to install the drivers manually. Since in 13.12mod I was given an INF file to put in the drivers folder and update for each display adapter but here there is only the executable file.

Is there still 8 GPU limit for AMD cards? I think there is no limit on nVidia cards. So it is in the design of the AMD driver?

Well.. I've tested 15.12 on 1x7950 + 5x290 and it does work for me.
Maybe you want to try cleanup first - removing driver completely etc.

No clue about nVidia, however - https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/738070/cuda-setup-and-installation/8x-gpu-gtx-issue-under-windows/post/4208565/#4208565
So there may be issues as well.

As for AMD, in 8/8.1 if you installed Microsoft driver(from auto-update) not AMD(downloaded from amd.com etc) - then more cards were working. Basically M$ driver had my mod embedded ; ) But not all of it. In w10.. imo a lot of things have changed. Also AMD removed Catalyst.
Actually, the whole idea of the mod grew from this post - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=193695.msg2536323#msg2536323

Anyway, there were no limits hardcoded or stuff like this - just the driver and it's configuration were not tested properly on 6+ GPU setups.
Imo since nVidia launched Grid, they did test on 'a lot of GPUs' systems and AMD didn't.

If we can have 12 GPU working on the Asrock H61/81 system, that would be excellent. If we can install 6x7990 and make it working.

I actually tried that twice, with DDU and everything but for some reason that 15.12 can't work. Don't know why.

I have a gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 and is running 2 graphic cards on the board in the pcies x16
The mobo has 4 pcies 16x and 2 pcies x1 ...

When i try to add a usb x1 pcie riser the pc does not work ,,, Windows 8.1 recognize the usb X1 to X16 pcie riser but when you plug a gpu on the riser is not working ,,,, also i tried the trick with the cable A1, B17 ... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=36061.120 and it got stuck the bios and i had to remove the mobo battery for a while ..

Also when I place the usb X1 riser in a motherboard X16 pcie slot again is not working .....
should i try risers with flat cable ? 16x to 16x and 1x to 16x ?

If you have any suggestion let me know ....

In the Windows 8/8.1, the auto update driver, which version is that? Is that version good for Ethereum mining?

I'm running 1x7950+5x290 on 990fxa-ud3 R3 right now. I was running 6x290 on it also.
Using x16_x1 powered risers(flat). Without PCIe precence short(A1, B17).
Motherboard is picky about primary GPU - the monitor must be attached to the GPU selected in BIOS.
Also to run headless "full screen logo show" must be enabled in BIOS.

And try setting PCIe to 1.1 speed in BIOS.

Hm. Looks that way. Or m$ screwed somewhere ; )
Also, you can find driver version using GPU-Z.
GPU-Z "driver version" corresponds to m$ "Version" and to "DriverVer" in .inf file.

@Lbr thanks for the help,,,
Mine is revision 5 the mobo ....
I am waiting some x16_x16 powered risers(flat) from ebay the ones with the blue tape ..

-Do you think they will work or i will have to order the ones that you say (x16_x1 powered risers(flat)) ?
- I want to attach 5 or 6  HD7990 i don't know if i can put so many ...

4x7990 max. afaik. That is 8xGPU. Use Windows 10.

As for x16_x16 vs x16_x1.. well.. I dunno. I've tried x16_x16 risers also and they did work. However I've never used x16_x16 in production, that is running rigs 24/365. Only x16_x1.

Anyway, your issues.. seem weird. Technically there is no difference between usb risers and common x16_x1 powered risers.
However, I've seen vide cards which just refuse to work with any riser.

And.. since I can't get hands on your system.. sadly I can't help.. But do try setting pcie to 1.1 speed(I can't find it in the manual.. maybe it does not exist?), setting primary GPU to one of the x16 slots and plug GPU there. Only one GPU.

Play with those -

Manual, page 47
Init Display First
Specifies the first initiation of the monitor display from the PCI Express or PCI graphics cards .
PCIe 1 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX16_1 slot as the first display. (Default)
PCIe 2 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX16_2 slot as the first display.
PCIe 3 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX4_1slot as the first display.
PCIe 4 Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX4_2 slot as the first display.

Manual, page 45
Full Screen LOGO Show
Allows you to determine whether to display the GIGABYTE Logo at system startup. Disabled skips the
GIGABYTE Logo when the system starts up. (Default: Enabled)

Manual, page 45
Display Boot Option Control
Allows you to select whether to enable the UEFI or legacy option ROM for the graphics controller.
Disabled Disables option ROM.
Legacy Only Enables legacy option ROM only. (Default)
UEFI Only Enables UEFI option ROM only.
Legacy First Enables legacy option ROM first.
UEFI First Enables UEFI option ROM first.

Because Windows 10 works with 8x290 out of the box.
On 7/8/8.1 only 7x290 worked with the mod applied.

Yes. I have the Win8.1 and  AMD 15.7 driver and I have 4x7990 on the Asus P8Z77-M Pro motherboard, no mod is required.

It is very ordinary riser cable. Two with molex +12V power, two without. The 7990 draw very little from the PCIE and I undervolt and underclock them.

I can use the 4x7990 without lbr mod on several motherboards.

But I cannot use 6x390 on the Asrock H61 Probtc boards. Anybody with any luck on that MB?

Probably cause 4x7990 have less video available display connections than 8x7970.

But I cannot use 6x390 on the Asrock H61 Probtc boards. Anybody with any luck on that MB?
Even with the mod?

Does it work on 7 or 8 GPU? For example we would like 2X7990 + 4X390 or 3X7990+2X390.

I cannot make it work on ASrock H61 Pro BTC with 6x390. Maybe it is just the MB.

You need to run it as administrator

"6xGPU_mod does not support Windows UAC and should be run as Administrator."

That trick works. I have 7 GPUs on a motherboard, they are all recognised after the 6 GPU mod as administrator.

Didn't work for 8x290.
Worked for 4x7990 + 2xGTX970, tho ppl report 4x7990 working without the mod, but it was not the case on the rig I've seen. Did not work for 4x7990+1x290/7970/7990 - but system even would not boot(nor *nix nor Win).

I cannot make it work on ASrock H61 Pro BTC with 6x390. Maybe it is just the MB.

I've used to run 6x290 and 6x280x on H81 Pro BTC motherboard.

I remember following BIOS settings affected 6xGPU support on this board, but don't remember what settings I've used.

IGPU Multi-Monitor -> Disable

Primary Graphics Adapter -> don't remember
Select a primary VGA.

PCIE2 Link Speed -> don't remember; the lowest.
Select the link speed for PCIE2.

Launch Video OpROM Policy
Select UEFI only to run those that support UEFI option ROM only. Select Legacy
only to run those that support legacy option ROM only.

Yeah.. I was too lazy implementing all this UAC bs.

Also you must either import registry file or tick "Modify registry" and reboot after.

"6xGPU_mod does not support Windows UAC and should be run as Administrator."

Yeah.. I was too lazy implementing all this UAC bs.

Also you must either import registry file or tick "Modify registry" and reboot after.

You have done excellent jobs. If the AMD can implement the unlimited number of GPUs, it will be very good for mining.

Does it work on 7 or 8 GPU? For example we would like 2X7990 + 4X390 or 3X7990+2X390.

IGPU Multi-Monitor -> Disable

I have the H61 Pro BTC. I select the PCIE link speed to be generation 1, it does not affect the mining.

PCIe link speed in general does not affect mining at all, cause most(all?) algos don't require PCIe bandwidth.
However some motherboards are having issues allocating resources for multiple devices.
And sometimes PCIe link speed set to 1/1.1 does help. Not for mining but for motherboard working properly with a lot of GPUs.
And since this setting does not affect mining speed and it is difficult to say which motherbard will be having issues.. I always set it to 1.1 if possible.
From the top of my head I remember z77 based motherboards and intel motherboards in general.

I got it same mobo with 5x r380 working like this:

1) doing that: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=461637.msg5111084#msg5111084

2) from reddit fount this:
---

Yes, this is crucial for Linux compatibility on GA-990FXA-UD3 latter revision boards: enable IOMMU in the BIOS, and also enable EHCI & XHCI "Hand-Off".
I do not recommend using the open-source fglrx drivers, as their hashrate performance is subpar compared to the official AMD binary blobs (13.11/12.12).
---

3) run that mod to generate reg and manually applied it: https://lbr.id.lv/6xgpu_mod/ + reboot

4) still found one card with code 43 (not another card)

5) done that 6gpu mod again + reboot

voila Smiley

IOMMU does not affect my GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev.3. Tho I'm running Win.
But this board is weird. For example it won't boot at all with 6x290 without monitor attached if "Full Screen Logo Show" is not enabled ; )

Hey guys,

I'm running catalyst 14.4 with 6 cards. As soon as I add the 7. card I get a "device has been stopped" warning for a random card.

Is there any solution for that problem here?

Well.. it's a bit out of the scope of this thread.
So you better ask here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=632503 for example.

However, make sure that your PSU can handle all the cards and that each GPU can work on it's own.
Or you can significantly lower GPU frequencies in MSI AfterBurner f.e.
Try something 800/1250 for all the cards - this will make GPUs to use much less W.
Also it can be driver related issue, for ETH afaik it is recomennded to use 15.12 driver.
And make sure that all the GPUs are actually working and are properly detected by the system, f.e. switching trough all of them in GPU-Z and reading temp/freq/etc.

This mod is not working for me with the latest driver (16.8.2) and 7 RX 480's on Windows 7. Any ideas? I did run the application as an administrator. The app seems to work fine with  6 GPU's, though.

Probably already answered, but did not find the answer therefore asking: Mother Board Asrock B85 with 5 cards (one is 7990 so windsurfing 8.1 visible in the list 6), add another r9 280x and it is - the seventh - does not work with error 43. Tried everything - setup of MB, registry cleaner and modified  (6xGPU_mod), an additional power supply, adding memory, riser changed, a different version of the driver set. Prompt, pls. how to solve the problem?

Same issue!

Driver 16.8.2 RC4
Board: H81 BTC
6x RX 470
OS: Windows 7 x64

After installing the driver only 4 (!!!) gpus are working.
The other 2 gpus show Error 43.

Your tool works to get 5 gpus running but still 1 gpu showing Error 43.
Running your tool once again didn't change anything.
So the total is 4 with driver only and 5 with your mod applied (even multiple times).

I would love to stay with windows 7 (!!!) allthough win 10 seems to be plug and play.

Quite strange, I updated an old rig to driver 16.8.2 RC4 with the same setup as above but INSTEAD 6x R9 280x.
Once again with the driver only, just 4x 280x were working, 2 were showing Error 43.
But in this case your mod worked to get all 6x 280x running.
So the only difference is the gpu model itself.

Thanks in advance if you can fix it.

It seems that some motherboards cannot handle 7 or 8 GPUs. I confirmed with Windows 10 and RX 480's that the limits for ASUS Maximus V Extreme and ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z are 7 GPUs and 6 GPUs, respectively, even with PCIe multipliers. These limits presumably depend upon the CPU and PCIe bridge. Hope this helps.

Also, imo it is better to check on *nix. Cause Win AMD driver deffo has limitation, *nix apparently does not.
However, as far as I know mod does not work with 8x290 on Win8.1(and older) - only 7xGPUs work.

In the PC system BIOS, you might be able to change the PCIE generation from 3 to 1. This might help.

Can anyone run 6xRX470-480 on win7? Avaliable only 5 cards and 6's with error 43.
Here one man run 6*480 on win7 with 16.7.2 drivers http://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/comment/62974/#Comment_62974
but support 470 (cards, wich I have in hands) was added only in 16.7.3 drivers, tried this version - didn't help.

so, maybe someone succesfully run 6*470-480 cards on win7?

I've had no problems running 6 GPU rigs with cheap celly cpu's on Win10:

1. Install windows with only 1 GPU.

2. Shut down and attach all 6 GPU.

3. Clear CMOS

4. Boot and install graphics driver

5. Everything works

After much frustration getting to this point - clearing the CMOS is imperative.  Hope this helps someone.

I mean clear the CMOS by moving the jumper to the clear position.... then back.  Should be referencedd in your mobo manual.

I have read through the entire thread confirming that this mod works with 6 R9 290s as well as in windows 10. I have a Crosshair V Formula-Z and 3 R9 295X2s on Windows 10 Pro. I know its basically 6 R9 290s. But just wanted to confirm if anyone is able to get 3 of these working.

So far...

1. Plugin one 295X2 closest to the CPU.
2. Disconnect Ethernet cable.
3. Install Windows 10 Pro.
4. Check Device Manager and see that Microsoft Display Driver is installed for both GPUs.
4. Shutdown.
5. Plugin two more 295X2s.
6. Boot.
7. Check Device Manager and see that Microsoft Display Driver is installed on one more GPU. But now two of the GPUs have a yellow triangle exclamation mark (error code 31). The other three are labeled "Video Controller" each with a yellow triangle exclamation mark (also error code 31).
8. Right-click on 6XGPU_mod and run as an administrator.
9. Select Force, Modify Registry, and Reboot, options. Then ran.
10. When finished Reboot.
11. Nothing has changed. See Step 7.
12. Manually update driver (latest Crimson) on the GPU without the exclamation mark. But it applied the driver to all three "Microsoft Display Drivers" replacing it with "Radeon R9 200 series" and are in good working order.
13. I proceed to manually update driver (latest Crimson) of one of the "Video Controller" with yellow triangle exclamation mark replacing it with "Radeon R9 200 series" and is in good working order.
14. I proceed to manually update driver (latest Crimson) of one of the remaining two "Video Controller" with yellow triangle exclamation marks. Computer reboots and I get BSoD: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (atikmpag.sys)

I have tried this twice already. 1st time I forgot to clear the CMOS before plugging in the remaining two 295X2s. 2nd time I cleared the CMOS before installing the remaining two 295X2s. Both ending with the same result, Step 14. I will be trying Crimson 15.12 next. (Did they rename Catalyst 15.12 to Crimson 15.12?)

I have also tried installing Windows 10 Pro with all 3 from the get go but it doesn't pass the loading initialization screen. Only until I unplug one of the 295X2s does it proceed past it.

I have also tested each individually to make sure they meet the reference model standard. All three do.

Crosshair V Formula-Z and 3 R9 295X2s

Should work -
http://hwbot.org/submission/2858178_8_pack_gpupi___1b_4x_radeon_r9_295x2_2sec_531ms
http://hwbot.org/submission/3050127_oldcomer_gpupi___32b_4_radeon_r9_290x_2min_22sec_104ms/

I would try Windows 10(cause it should work out of the box) + changing motherboard BIOS settings or other motherboard.

Wholly smokes... 4 295X2s? Wowzers! Looks awesome Smiley

Thank you for your assistance. I will try changing the BIOS settings you have suggested on my CVFZ with this version of Win 10 before trying on a regular Win 10.

This is what mine looks like. The case is Lian Li's DK-01 Desk/Computer: http://tinypic.com/r/2ztldzr/9
Don't mind the cable management, lol. I'm ordering custom cables from ensourced.net so it will look all neat and tidy.

There is 8 GPU limit for the AMD cards. I tried to run 5X 7990, it does not work. Only 4X7990 will work.

Win 10 works out of the box for 6x rx 470. So.. something else is the issue.

Also, I was not able not make the mod for 6x470 for Win7.

True. Driver is causing BSOD.
But you can stick some nVidia cards.

I tried changing those settings in the bios to no effect. Both in Win 10 and Pro. Still get the BSoD (atikmpag.sys)

Though I have to note that in Win 10 (not Pro) it was able to update the driver for the 5th gpu without touching the bios. It went to BSoD (atikmpag.sys) when trying to install the 6th. Where as in Pro I didn't even get past the 5th before reaching BSoD (atikmpag.sys). So I guess that's progress. When should I use 6xGPU_mod, after installing Win 10 with one gpu plugged in and not updated the driver?

Update 10/28/16: I have now been able to boot into windows 10 with all 3 gpus using crimson 15.12. But the 3rd 295 is not recognized. And after a few min of being connected to the internet I get BSoD, lol. Oddly enough if I disconnect from the internet its all good. I'll try and upload an image of what 6xGPU_mod wrote later today (I did not apply its settings yet cause I wanted your feedback of it).

Well.. normally AMD driver should not BSOD on Win10, it should just work..
On Win7 - the mod should be applied after all GPUs driver installation.

Try  16.7.2 I think thats the only one that might work. It won't work with RX470s.

They are RX 480 correct? Use this tool also to get the 6th to work.

8 x GPU under Windows is a lost cause.... but looking at your build, maybe relook at the PSU - suspect its cause of black screen....

I have a 7 x R7-370 built in June for ETH mining working like a charm.

Although the 370 is not really a fast card, its a very stable, super cool card and is not power hungry.

ATM, its mining ZEC at 58-60 H/s per card with Claymore v6 ZEC miner.

I spent so much time tweaking to get the 8th card to work but no good results.

I stopped experimenting after realising that those downtime should have been put to good use mining and getting profits. 7 cards not put in good mining use is really a waste...

Conclusion to share:

1. Beyond 7 GPU, only Linux can make this happen. Some dude in Ethereum forum has shared this in detailed.

2. Crazy multi GPU Linux rig, I think this dude went all the way to 18 (or more) x GPUs to mine ETH using a special USD$2000 PCI extension board usually meant for deep learning systems. Even Claymore had to release a special Linux version to support it for ETH mining.
See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1676763.msg16895926#msg16895926

3. For Windows 7,8.1,10 - max 7 cards with standard drivers is no issue esp with latest drivers. Older drivers, need the 6xGPU hack utility.

4. Windows Advanced Server with special drivers and Windows registry tweaking - 8 or more cards possible. Google "Deep Learning systems" that are Windows based.

I have 8x280x on same rig and everything is fine. I think the problem are new graphics cards (Rx series), with old card (HD 7950 or R9 280X) my rig start normal.  8x 280x works perfectly on same windows 10, and same 16.9.2 driver.

Am I wasting my time, trying to get mixed 2x 7970 1x 7990, 2x RX 480's on the same windows rig?    It seems the standard 15.12 wont recognize the 480's, and get BSOD's after 10 seconds when using 16.9.

EDIT

Seems to work just fine without the 7990 (4cards) but with the 7990 (6 cards) its very unstable. BSOD and blackscreens.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience as I was thinking about the same thing. It seems like 6 cards are best when running on windows and if we want to squeeze out every bit out of the cards for the time and energy they consume, then go for Linux system.

In my small farm, I use ASrock H81 (3,4,5,6,7 GPUs with risers) and Biostar Z170 (4xGPU no risers).

I am done doing rig with risers, so future rigs with 4xGPU formats only to simplify mining operations.

Mixing GPU types is always a nightmare mainly because of drivers, PCI-USB risers, PCI slot and power draw issues...

For AMD, newer cards like RX / Polaris based - better on separate rigs because of driver support and other peculiar RX add-ons.

Hello guys! I am trying to build a 7 gpu mining rig with the following components:

i3 Processor
8gb ram ddr3
MSI z97 gaming 5 Mobo
2x 1000 watts psu
and 7x 480 PowerColor 4g Gpu
USB 3.0 powered risers
on a Win 8.1 Pro operative system.

And I am experiencing issues to have all the cards recognized even after over 8 hours of trying different things like:

Clearing CMOS
Checking risers (they all are working)
Switching back and forward gpus within pcie ports for hours, which allowed me to recognize the 6th card like a regular H81 Pro BTC MOBO.
Everytime I plug a GPU to the PCIE7 slot the system won run. I am about to uninstall everything and start from the OS.

Do you guys have any idea what am I missing?

BTW: I am trying to emulate the process made by Cryptomined (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWVyutw3hZk). But he says something about the memory on the minute 11:55 that  I can not understand with my limited english.

I hope someone can help me! Have a good day miners!

Edit: I just managed to have all the gpu recognized but one of them is still showing error code 43, even after applying the 6gpu mod.

That is what I am learning. My 79xx tahiti based cards all are happy as clams on 15.12, but unstable on the 16.x series drivers, though I have yet to try them all.  I have the asrock btc pro, so I have 6 slots and was hoping to mix cards, but alas, seems it wont be so

Yeah I've setup a similar one with 4 additional slots , but the problem is how to run all the cards on win 8.1

hmmm.... RX480s or 470s x 7 on Win8.1.... sorry dude havent tried that because when RX480s first came out it only supported W10 and W7..... I think W8.1 support only came later and with Wattman etc. seems only W10 can do the job.

Anyways, for what its worth my 7 x R370 on Win 8.1 below no issues with the PCI multiplexor, last PCI slot with 2 x GPU with this special riser. The only thing unique I guess is the Crimson version 16.11.2. I remembered upgrading this rig from 15.12; also I think I had to do the 6XGPU hack too to get rid of the Error 43 thinghy.

I believe there is no issues in supporting 7 GPUs on W10 - should work.

Have you tried safe mode DDU and install latest Crimson?

Hello,

I have the following setup running:

6x XFX RX 480
Asrock Pro BTC
Windows 8.1

The problem is, the driver 15.12 is not working for RX 480 anymore, therefore I have to use the newest driver, which at the moment is Crimson 16.11.5.
Five GPUs are working fine, but I can't get the sixth GPU recognized from the system.

I also tried 6xGPU Mod with 16.11.5, but it's not working. It's not an issue related to a clean uninstall, because I've successfully used DDU with a safe restart.

I also tried the drivers 14.4 and 16.1.1, but they are also not able to be installed on the RX 480.
The problem always is, that only the two options "HDMI Audio Driver" and "AMD Install Manager" can be selected, but after clicking the Install button, the installation is finished within a few seconds and ONLY those two items have been installed but no display drivers.

Do you know any fix for getting the sixth GPU to work with the 16.11.5 driver version?

Thanks very much in advance.

Kind regards,

Windows Server 2016

Thanks for the hint. Do I have to take anything special into account?
Or is it just installing Windows Server 2016 GUI-Version, installing the newest AMD driver for the RX 480, running the 6xGPU Mod and then it should work?

Did you already test Windows Server 2016? Because I tried WinSrv2012R2 but I wasn't able to install any of the AMD drivers. It always failed due to the message "Application install: install package failure". I installed all the c++ redistributables, but couldn't get it working, therefore I switched to Win8.1.

Thanks

For me it works  with Crimson 16.10.2 + 6gpu_mod ( win7 and win 8.1 )

Thanks for the input.
Just did a safe reboot DDU, then installed Crimson 16.10.2 and executed 6gpu_mod (including Force, Modify Registry and Restart).

The result unfortunately is the same:

Any help would be appreciated.
Otherwise I have to also try Winsrv2016.

Thanks

Yes I really tested it -

I've also tested 2012 and 2008 and 2003. Mining(OpenCL) works fine.
But I've never installed drivers via AMD installation manager/Catalyst. I always install drivers manually.
Hm. Tho I do remember that to get Catalyst working you need to do something in the registry.. enable hardware acceleration for the GPUs.

No.. nothing special ; ) Or you can try Win10. Basically the same, except all the crap is turned off in the Server.

executed 6gpu_mod (including Force, Modify Registry and Restart).

Run As admin? Were the registry mods applied?
You can backup registry in the mod and send me those files, I can check.

I would be interested on how you guys install new driver or initial setup with more than 3 cards.
I tried the method 1 card install and then install next one after each other..

But i often came across the point of loop flickering, BSOD, or random..how to say looks like MEM freeze artifacted picture.
It also takes a long time ..very long e.g with 4 cards until the setup is done and inbetween the system often freeze mouse and keyboard not working and then it suddenly after 10min works a few seconds and freezes again.

It took me always more than 2h to get 6 cards to work after countless bsods, crashes, freezes on Windows 10..So I'm curious how you guys do it and what problems you experienced.

I'd say you have some hardware issue.

AMD driver install can take a lot of time(max I've seen ~1h) because it keeps re-installing driver for all GPUs on each GPU setup, hence 6 ! installs on 6xGPU rig.
However, I've never seen lockups on driver setup. On properly working PC I mean.

Also, imo W10/2016 is very HDD IO demanding. So slower than 7/2k8.

And BSODs... well.. what do they say exactly?

AMD driver cased the bsod as well on intall or deinstall.
Hardware is new and stock settings and run 1 week stable on Prime95 and other tools.

It just happens when I install AMD drivers and no the card not even modified even at stock the install often hungs or freeze.
I also noticed sometimes when i add the 6th card or 5th..after bsod while install it works after reboot.

sofar I tested also 6-7 nvidia gpus and no issues..install takes long too but it always finish and works.
HDD ..no seriously I use a SSD one of the fastest available there shouldn't be a bottleneck.

Well... AMD driver.. sux ; ) That's for sure.
But, maybe there is also other stuff in play.
I've no experience at all with multi nVidia GPUs.. except with a lot of AMD + some nVidia.

Some stuff that can interfere(what I've seen) - not enough RAM, dual/single/whatever RAM issues(some motherboards don't work with a lot of GPUs and 4x2GB), PCIe bandwidth and revision(should be the lowest possible, x1@1.1), integrated GPU(disabled), incorrectly "hacked" Win(only KMS should be used). Especially Intel(z77) motherboards are completely fucked up when it concerns PCIe lanes distribution.
Weird things - GA-990fxa rev.1 boots headless only with "Full Screen Logo Show" enabled Oo, some GPUs just don't work with risers at all.

So..... well.... >Smiley

And deffo you are not using "one of the fastest available there" SSDs ; ) If by "there" you mean "in the world".

This SSD still rocks - and still compete with newer SSD for SATA..I am not talking about NVMe.
Well the RAM and Lane config is the same as for the NV..I just switched the gpus..on a fresh install of windows.

And it doesn't matter on which PCIe port i attach the 3++ card it happens equal which card, which port I take when installing the AMD crapson bleepshit drivers.
I wasted already so many hours 12h in total to get it working.. but i tend to throw it out of the window and let a car smash it.

Hello,
I'm trying to run 7xXFX RX 480 GTR Black (8GB) on MSI Z97 Gaming 5.

Every time I connect 7th GPU my rig won't even start, it just shows this right after power on:
https://postimg.org/image/45s15sapz/
(80x25 text mode with totally corrupted characters, blinking)

I've tried to:
- use various risers (ribbon powered, ribbon non-powered, two types of USB including version 005S)
- play around with BIOS seetings (GEN1-GEN3)
- add extra PSU (1200W+750W, both 80PLUS Gold)
- turn off all unnecessary devices in BIOS (LAN Adapter, Audio, legacy IO)

None of this helps when all 7 PCI slots are in use. Regardless of what I do, end result is always the same.
With 6 GPUs system starts OK.

Any ideas?

Cool ; )

What's 80x25? Seems like it's not present in the manual.
Ok, that's text mode res ; ) So what does POST indicator say?
@70~77,D2 Late South Bridge Initialization
92~96,B5,D4 PCI bus Initialization@

Display should be attached to GPU in PCI_E2.
CPU PCI-E Lane Configuration -> dunno, but lowest possible, Gen1
PEGX - Gen X-> Gen1
PCI Latency Timer -> play with it
Initiate Graphic Adapter -> PEG
IGD Multi-Monitor -> Disabled
Integrated Graphics Share Memory -> dunno.. 32M
Integrated GPU should be disabled anyway, tho I can't see BIOS option to do it.
Intel(R) Rapid Start Technology -> Disabled
Internal GOP Configuration -> What's that?
Full Screen Logo Display -> Enabled
Boot Mode Select -> try both

Also try shorting PCI-e presence on all risers.
And maybe different BIOS versions.
RAM - try more/less/different.

I am so grateful for this hint. Thanks!!
Disabling on-board graphic adapter did the trick.

So now I have another issue. Both 6th and 7th GPU report Error Code 43 in Windows 8 PRO. Previously it was 6th GPU but I hoped that rootcausing 7th GPU start-up failure would help both for issues. Anyway what I already did after launching all 7 GPUs:
1 ) Remove all drivers in safe mode using DDU
2 ) Observe that actually some standard VGA Adapters report issues in Device Manager (code 10, 38, 38, 38 respectively):
https://s27.postimg.org/tx7itnez7/20161211_165713.jpg
3 ) Install 16.11.5 drivers
4 ) Observe that  GPUs on PCI 7, 8 and 6 show Error Code 43
5 ) Run 6xGPU MOD in admin mode
6 ) 1 GPU fixed, GPUs on PCI 7 and 8 show Error Code 43. Physically these are PCI slots: PCI_E1 and PCI_E6.
7 ) Try to revert to original BIOS (using micro-switch on the GPU) - doesn't help
8 ) Re-run 6xGPU MOD - doesn't help
9 ) Reduced RAM from 8GB to 4GB - doesn't change anything (2 GPUs with code 43 remain, so presumably if RAM was the issue more GPUs would cease to work)
10 ) Make sure that by swapping risers, cables, riser cards, GPUs - the issue doesn't change, these are always the same PCI slots that are affected.
11 ) Additionaly I noticed that graphic driver crashes randomly when there is at least one GPU with Error 43 (sometimes even in idle or right after start up).

I will keep on investigating and reading two threads you linked. But it seems in my case issue is related to some basics in Windows since even witout AMD driver there are Standard VGA adapter issues.

I would really love if someone could help me with another issue you might encounter in the future.

For some reason, after a couple of hours mining perfectly, one gpu drops its mem clock from whatever stock setting it is to 300, which causes that gpu to mine a 1/5 % of the speed, usually around 47 sols/s (amd 470 4 gb modded). so I am constantly having to reinstall drivers, patch, etc, to get it work normally again, since simple restarts do not solve the problem.

I am using 6x 470 4gb cards, z97 gaming 5 mobo, 8gb ram, windows 8.1

While I'm still working on my issue, maybe this could help:
- Does this always happen to the same GPU? If so, swap it with another one and see if the issue follows the GPU or the PCI/riser. If the issue follows the GPU try flashing it with the BIOS copied from a GPU that doesn't fail (backup first).
- Maybe this is miner's feature to slow the card down if it get's overheated - what's the temp it achieves prior to the failure? And the time you spend to reinstall drivers allows the GPU to cool down?

Hi! thanks for the quick response.

Nope, I realized it is always the 2nd GPU showed on Afterburner, I swapped every GPU between every PCIE slot, I also tested every card on the 16x port to see if every one of them could send the signal to the screen with no problems.

The low mining speed can also be seen on the ethereum miner.

Every GPU are working between 65 and 71 şC.

I have taken between a day to 20 minutes, from the crash to the reinstall, I dont think this is a temp issue as the speed wont go back up even if I let it rest for a day.

BTW, I just updated MOBOs bios but I am still having the same issue, and I still cant even get the NiceHashs benchmark done. Might it be MOBOS fault?

I would really love if someone could help me with another issue you might encounter in the future.

Raise vcore.

Hi!, I just tried rising vcore by 6% and power limit by 10% and it might just have lasted a bit longer, but in the end, it ended up crashing again.

Raise vcore until it stops crashing. Or decrease core clock.

Also, any interferance with the GPU except the miner can cause GPU to go idle/low power state.
F.e. - Screen saver/GPU-Z/MSI Afterburner/any soft which uses GPU.
Some software on launch/some rendering/profile apply/etc makes GPU to enter 3D mode, after it is finished GPU goes idle/low state.

Or it simply hangs in OpenCL due to unstable clocks and then resets itself.
Visually it can be seen on display as very quick flicker.

I just installed windows 10 to see if that could solve the problem. Same Bios settings (8x 4x 4x, gen 2 PCIE ports, inboard audio disabled), amd drivers ver 16.9, afterburner, CDM ver 7.4, aand thats it.

Afterburner mods: +6% vcore, +10% power limit.

Results: 1 gpu mining at 4mh/s, 5 gpus mining at 25 mh/s. And a new problem: I dont see any speed improvement by modifying the clocks, its like afterburner didnt work. I havent overlocked my gpus since the release of ZCash but I remember getting speeds of up to 29 mh/s per gpu with my other rigs.

Instal win 10, my 7xRX 480 works fine.
This helped!
Fresh Windows 10 installation and all 7 GPUs able to run even without 6xGPU MOD! I can't believe how much time I lost trying to get 5+ GPUs to run on Windows 7...

Thank you batko and lbr for help!

Now I "just" need to resolve stability issue of 6th and 7th GPU, which crash always after 5-6 minutes of mining.

Hi, well, this did the trick:

I would really love if someone could help me with an annoying issue.

I really dont know if it is the miner causing it, windows, or maybe the GPU...

Do you have a screen plugged in (or dummy plug)? If it's the 'out card' it could be a restful state issue that your power management is forcing the card into.

HI! yes, i keep a screen plugged in all the time. I always use the same port to connect the pc to the scree, i think its the first 16x port, I think it is also the only one that allows me to enter the BIOS settings.

Double check, I had the same 300MHz problem when I first set up my rigs, it turns out I had to have a monitor plugged in to the primary slot - for me that was the 2nd PCI e slot from the top (not the first 1x slot).

I didnt remember I had to connect the screen to a different gpu during the installation. Everything seems to be working Almost fine.
My current configuration is:
Core volt +6
Power limit +10
Core clock 1300
Memory clock 1950

Windows 10 Professional

Hashing speed for CDM ver 7.4 are between 27.7 and 28.0
Temps go from 68 to 73.

For some reason it is mining a bit slower than the rest of my rigs, may be because of the Windows version.
I will let know if it remains stable.

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

Did you try modifying the bios? set PCIE ports to gen 2, choose the 8x 4x 4x option, deactivate integrated audio port, update bios, and connect the screen to the first 16x port.

Now I "just" need to resolve stability issue of 6th and 7th GPU, which crash always after 5-6 minutes of mining.
try change extender. USe USB extender or?

While I'm fine-tuning my miner a couple of conclusions so far:

Hardware:
MSI Gaming 5 Z97
7x XFX Radeon 480 GTR Black
7x USB Risers (blue) v.005S, Windows 10
PSU: FSP Aurum Pro 1200W 80Plus GOLD
8GB DDR3 1600 low voltage
CPU Intel G3220T @2.60GHz, no mods

Conclusions:
  • PEG Gen setting in BIOS - doesn't seem to impact stability, affects power drain slightly (average from 10 measurements taken each 10 sec after achieving a stable temp):
    - Auto/Auto/Auto - 928W
    - Gen2/Gen2/Gen2 - 927W
    - Gen1/Gen1/Gen1 - 919W - stayed with this one
  • PCI Latency - seems to impact stability
    - Latency 128:  time to failure: 5min42s(BSoD), 21min31s(BSoD), 1min26s(GPU0 fail), 12min03s(BSoD)
    - Latency 32: 2 hours and keeps on running stable - stayed with this one
  • Windows 7 - don't use it for 5+ GPUs, use Windows 10:)
  • Other settings: onboard LAN adapter, audio and video disabled, PCIe set to 8x/4x/4x of course

Voltages and frequencies are of course main factors of performance/stability and now I'm playing around with best performance vs. power drain
At the moment I'm mining Zcash using Claymore's miner v. 9.1, -cvddc 975 -cclock 1225, intensity 8 and seems stable, Average total 1523H/s, power drain (from the wall) 903W, which gives 1.69H/s/W. Fans running quite at ~30%, GPU temps ~70C, ambient temp 24C, PSU fan also quiet. GPU's BIOS is slightly modded (mem timings to improve ETH mining, quiet fans and lowered voltages at top states)

Hi lbr!
My hardware:
6x RX470 8G
Gigabyte z170 gaming k3
8G RAM
G4400 CPU

AMD drivers 16.11.5

In windows 7 x64 two GPUs have code 43 error. After i use your program and patch registry only 5 GPUs work fine and one - code 43 error. In Windows 10 work all 6 GPUs, but win10 unstabe, and telemetry, and updates...
Can you wrote new program, which can run all 6 GPUs on Win7? I'll donate you, if you can.

You can not do it with RX cards at this point. Update to Windows 10.
