I do like the new tech and keep improving fundamental technology, however, all coins have the same destination, to be accepted by people and used by people. Getting a coin into everyone's daily life is really what people should think about, and DOGE really did a good job on that, I don't think we can simply ignore what DOGE has done, and even simply the other clone coins. This could be very much a needed process towards the future. Just simply think about linux distro, how many are there, ridiculous? People won't blame this much. What is important are people keep improving (aka cloning, sound ridiculous).

I know you've rejected this before but this could be solved by you being the official sponsor of one of the existing (non-1gh) pools. You would not need to do anything but accept a percentage of pool revenue to go towards development/marketing.
I never rejected such an idea, I just said I'm not willing to run an official pool, I'd rather leave it to the professionals. But if a pool is willing to just give us a percentage of their revenue of course we would accept it and give them "official sponsorship" in return.

On an unrelated note, I just fixed a bug with the block explorer causing recently confirmed transactions to be briefly hidden on the address details page. For anyone running MiniExplorer just update the /inc/pages/address.inc.php file with the new one on github.

Speaking of tech, are mini-blockchains compatible with CoinShuffle?  In my limited understand of the two, they seem like an ideal match.
Yes I believe the CoinShuffle protocol (with some slight changes) would be compatible with the mini-blockchain scheme. The only issue I see with CoinShuffle is that it requires the generation of fresh output addresses, which will bloat the account tree. CoinShuffle kind of just spits out your mixed coins into a fresh address, and if I'm not mistaken the level of anonymity achieved really depends on how many people participate in the mixing process. I don't think it's a perfect match for the mini-blockchain scheme but it may prove to be the best possible solution because I'm not sure something better exists.

That's great news!   Cool

I have been rolling my eyes at the clamor for XCN jumping on the anon bandwagon because of how many killer applications its safe zero conf spends+multisig+transparency already enable (decentralized poker/prediction markets/Starbucks) but CoinShuffle may change my mind.

Since mixing anon improves with more participants, I'm curious how much account tree bloat we are talking about if all tx are shuffled by default...

...And is there a way to charge for the value-added anon service to avoid tragedy-of-the-commons overuse?

Are there any estimates on how many transactions per second XCN could handle, if I understood correctly, Bitcoin can handle maximum of 7 tx/sec?

7 tx/sec is limited by the block size of BTC.

Cryptonite has a dynamic maximum block size, meaning the block capacity will increase as the transaction rate increases.

Wallet out of sync. What is the problem ?
Try running -resync and adding the nodes listed below. Also try doing what CasualSam mentioned: sync using cryptonited and then once fully synced switch to cryptonite-qt. It'll probably sync more smoothly and faster that way.

Looks like the Beyond Bitcoin interview will be happening. I also plan to create a "virtual booth" in an upcoming virtual cryptocurrency conference. Hopefully these two events should do quite a bit to help boost the awareness of Cryptonite. This is really the type of exposure we need, not paid advertisements which everyone ignores.

@psychofractor: try the same thing I told hamer-xx to do.

Any interest in giving a talk on MBC and XCN at a conference?

You just need a catchy title like 'Rounding the Triangle: Mini Blockchains, Account Trees, and the Holy Grail of Safe Zero Confirmation Tx.'   Cool

You literally need to draw people a (Powerpoint) picture of potential killer applications for the technology to get the ball rolling.

In the meantime, a faucet might help increase awareness.  I'd be happy to donate to one.

I was offered a spot to speak at the upcoming virtual conference, but there's nothing I can say which isn't already explained in the wiki and the video I uploaded earlier. I'd rather have a real time conversation about the mini-blockchain scheme, which is what I plan to do on Beyond Bitcoin. I will create a virtual booth but I doubt I will speak, I'd rather do the speaking on Beyond Bitcoin.

bitfreak, but they are right about marketing. Not a lot people are aware of cryptonite right now, and the name of this coin makes people confused too.

Quoted for emphasis!

X2 Quoted for emphasis on the NAME

BUT imho the ticker should also be changed.

I mean - i hold XCN and i myself can't remember the ticker, and get confused with so many other coins that start with the letter X.
The top 100 cryptos now have 9! coins starting with X. that's more than x2 twice the rate of random distribution.
very confusing...

XMR - monero
XRP  - ripple
XCP - counterparty
XPM - primecoin
XDN - darknote
XST - stealthcoin
XCR - crypti
XDP - dogeparty
XCH - clearinghouse

That's because starting a currency code with an X is the ISO standard for a currency which is global/nationless.

Thanks, bitfreak, it is up and runnning. I went through x number of strange error messages, locked database files and crashes. Finally I found that the wallet was corrupted, probably because of alle the crashes, but I managed to salvage it.

With respect to marketing there is only one brief point that has to be made clear.

Step 1) Make sure the audience understands the siignificance of a small blockchain and point out that only xcn has it.

Step 2) If necessary repeat step 1 but talk louder and wave your arms around.

Anything more than that or less than that is probably a mistake.

The small blockchain is a neat feature, but XCN's real killer innovation is enabling safe zero-confirmation transactions.
