Sounds a bit odd - do you have some nodes in your magi.conf?

You can download the latest chain snapshot (4th Jan) here
https://m-core.org/bin/block-chain/

The following file has a sample magi.conf inside
https://m-core.org/bin/m-wallet-1.4.5.3/m-wallet-1.4.5.3-win.zip

Good to hear you have your wallet synced - the more nodes we have on the network the stronger it is =D

Total noob here, so sorry if this is a stupid question right out of the gate.

Trying to set up my wallet, but Avast flags m-wallet.exe as a virus.

Is this just my antivirus being hyperactive, or is it a real virus?

Downloaded in file m-wallet-1.4.5.3-win.zip from website http://www.m-core.org/.

Thanks

So long as you download from m-core.org all is fine - the virus warning is because Magi Wallet uses IRC as a communication protocol and so do a lot of viruses

How many coins is the optimum for proof of stake?
And how to set up this on a linux computer?
All I have ever set up for magi wallets is just a gui wallet which doesn't take much setup...

Hello guys, how long does it take for deposited coins to the wallet to start staking? I have deposited 16 hours ago and my wallet is unlocked and synced.

It says 'not staking".

I think at least 50 coins is good amount to start with, any less and you may not have enough weight
http://telegra.ph/MAGI-PROOF-OF-STAKE-MINTING-MANUAL-01-09

I didn't try a linux setup before, so can't help too much there, below you can find the tar.gz file - check inside, maybe there are some instructions

This guide worked. Thank you sir. Glad to be a part of the community! Cheesy  Can someone explain more about the thresholds set on the conf file. Thanks. Cheesy

Can I please also have a slack invite at kvizoulas@gmail.com Cheesy
They are used to chunk blocks together which increases the likelihood of a block being picked for staking

Did anybody invite you to the slack yet? I don't go on there very often

Thank you very much.

More noob questions, specifically with regards to Raspbian.

I'm mining successfully, but need to know how to do the following things with SSH;

-How to I gracefully exit an SSH session without shutting down any processes?

-When starting a new SSH session, how do I get to the miner process to see what's happening (i.e. the boos and yays)?

-How do I set up the miner to restart automatically when my Raspberry Pi restarts?

Thanks so much.

Start any miner in screen, and just let screen terminal run (CTRL + a + d to detach)...
and screen -r to reattach, works fine
