Someone asked the question “If the Fibre network doesn’t support Tor, people will be connecting to other nodes via the normal Internet. So whats the point” . That is a great question and really hit home for us. So we assigned Bobby6Killers to work on this full time. He really showed us how talented he is!! Please find the solution below.
 

Introducing FibreDark
FibreDark is our solution that gives our users the choice of being able to hide their identity while connected to the Fibre network. The wallet will automatically use Tor , which will make your IP address and location hidden on the Fibre Network. The FibreDark wallet has hard coded .onion addresses that point to new FibreDark nodes, which have been brought online to support the FibreDark network. Our hybrid network will be able to support a mixed mode environment of both Tor enabled wallets and standard connected wallets on the Fibre network. This will give our users greater flexibility as they will have a choice in connecting via Tor or not.  The accompanying diagram explains how this is achieved.

After stage 5 on our roadmap FibreDark will be fully anonymous with Tor and transaction mixing.

FibreNotify

We are releasing another feature today called FibreNotify. Think of FibreNotify as the Fibre networks announcement service. With FibreNotify we will be able to send messages to every wallet on the network. Messages will contain Update information, Announcements and any news worthy of being blasted to the whole network. There is no need to update as FibreNotify is included in v1.2 and above. This will give us the edge of the competition as we will have a way to directly communicate with out user base. I’m not aware of any coin with a similar feature. We will be sending our our first FibreNotify message on Tuesday the 13th of September.

For those that are not aware, Fibre will be the first digital currency to have an Advisory Board formed from it’s community that actually have the power to make a difference. The FibreBoard will be made up of 17 community members that have more than 15,000 Fibre. Myself, Bobby6Killers and Krushang are auto entry, so 20 members in total. The FibreBoard will collectively make decisions on the future of Fibre and which features should be implemented. All major decisions affecting Fibre will be voted on by the board. The board members will be selected based on various metrics with commitment thus far being the major one.


FibreOS

As a professional Dev team we always have a plan B, Should tails not be fit for purpose. Plan B was to build our own Custom Ubuntu Distro. There are some fundamental flaws in using Tails as the base OS.

FibreOS will now utilize a custom, optimized and hardened Ubuntu distro, based on the latest 14.04LTS. We have been working on this alternate solution alongside the original solution. This will put Fibre in a better position as the best in the business use custom Ubuntu distributions.

We are still aiming to start public beta testing this weekend. This has been with the private beta testers for 24 hours and they have raised several bugs. Once we have these bugs fixed we ill begin the public testing. FibreOS has to be bug free at launch, as some will be using FibreOS as their primary wallet.

FibreOS is a secure and anonymous operating system powered by Ubuntu 14.04LTS. Anyone with a PC or laptop will be able to use FibreOS. Because the OS and Wallet data files are stored on a USB, You effectively have true cold storage, your coins will follow you wherever you go. All traffic is routed via TOR giving the user increased anonymity. When you unplug your USB stick no trace is left on the host PC.

BlockCypher Crowd Funding

As some of you may be aware, the final stage on our roadmap is to implement Block Cypher. Block Cypher will take the Fibre Block Chain and move it a secure, scalable and resiliant infrastructure in the cloud. This will allow us to develop some very innovation applications. Multi Sig, Multi Wallets, Lite wallets, Web based wallets, Mobile Wallets, Facebook Wallets are all made possible with BlockCypher.
