This is kind of the argument for ICO in some form - without payment/compensation, what's the incentive for a dev with options elsewhere (paying job) and responsibilities (family, kid?) to work on a coin as anything other than a hobby during some occasional free time. Coin development and marketing and community management appear to be full-time job these days. If they dont pay, why play?

That's a small-minded, short-sighted, hourly-wage-drone way of looking at it.

Aside from that, diverting a few minutes from "every second being spent to deliver a flawless product" to post a status update, however minor, has a big return in terms of preserving value.

And aside from *that*... looks like when a dev bails on a coin with Proof of Developer, Chris/Cryptoasian has not yet developed a process for using that proof to hold the dev to account.

I do not think it's right silence developer. But this does not mean that we should attack people who clearly stated their position. Please be patient. Because of impatience you are losses. Maybe CryptoAsian but not Coinsource. Do you believe people who are paid to make reviews ?

I think we need "proof of development", more than proof of Dev.

Developers should be tested 1/ on their crypto knowledge 2/ on their coding knowledge.

And when they announce some features we may ask for a "proof of existence", something that shows a real development is happening on this subject

When you see ShadeCoin & Axron, the developers go out of the project just before big release ^^

Ahead of reviewing the details and though I respect what CryptoAsian is doing and trying to do (think the criticism of him is somewhat unfair - I think his POD has lowered scam risk at least somewhat), love the concept - I salute you for assembling something like this. This ecosystem is in real need of a clean up.

yeah, you're right. The POD thing may have lowered the scam risk by 50%. Today 1 coin launching out of 2 is a scam. I would say that before POD, 2 coins launching out of 3 where scams.

To change this so less than 5% of coins launched today are scams, the reviewing should be changed drastically (as i said before, proof of development + proof of existence)

Until a coin is proven "Not Scam", it should be always warned as a %Scam. Something like 10% danger of Scam, 90% danger of Scam, ...  under 5% it could be labelized as "Safe"
