All the latest information is being socialized on the Facebook page atm.

We are wrapping up our 5th alpha test, this one generates a primary Give* single address for the regular users wallet and not only generates to that address but also stakes and folds change back to it.

We have a few more changes to make to the core engine then we'll ask Bittrex to enable the exchange while we update the graphics in the consumer Qt wallet.

We have been contacted by a couple of other exchanges that have expressed interest in facilitating trade.

We consider this to be a secondary market -- the primary vehicle for GiveCoin is charitable giving -- we encourage non-profits and pro-social organizations to find underwriters or sponsor/donors and reward them with coins in exchange for their donations and support.

"The worth of the thing is the price it will bring"

I've long thought it was cheaper to just acquire it than mine for it, especially the broken X11 implementation that would lock up the chain for days when poolhoppers would switch and exploit.

See https://www.facebook.com/projectgivecoin/

For on-going updates and photo's of our progress!

Last night we started what we hope will be our final Alpha build...

The 5th test achieved it's intended goals of creating Give* primary accounts, as well as additional G* addresses on demand, the system sends change back to the primary as well as enforces a 1% minimum TXFEE that rewards the POW miners -- additional donations can of course be made via the SETTXFEE value, which will be used in the early days to invite additional stakeholders into the ecosphere.

We are now testing a 7-day holding period for POS.

One thing that we have observed is that the chain grows quickly as the POS reward blocks keep splitting transactions up which in theory could geometrically double every round.   The counter-acting force to this of course is sending coins in larger batches, which will be done through donation activities of course, but we have also tested sending coins back to ourselves which appears to work.

We need to do a study/simulation to determine if and when it would be appropriate to re-consolidate coins into larger single units.

"The block explorer hosting period will expire in 1 days. Please contact support to renew the hosting period." ??

Thanks for the update -- I'm surprised they didn't email me directly since I'm the one that paid for it Tongue

It's not super critical at this juncture because I can spin up an ABE toy on demand if we need one.

I'll contact them to let them know that version 2.0 is about to be released.

I've paid up the subscription for another year with the understanding that they will cease hosting Givecoin v1.0 and host 2GiveCoin after released.

Givecoin " If you look at the current block explorer for the Alpha 6 chain you can see what we're talking about. As unspent outputs get split in half, the number of POS tx doubles"

GIVECOIN
The wallet collapsing test is a success!
You can see that the balance in the wallet was 30035.81926500 and there is a test 10% collapse self-send in the second TX of -300.35819200
We will do some hard simulation to make sure that this does not cause any unintended consequences in case someone wants to liquidate their entire holdings.

GIVECOIN

Have combined the coin coalescing code with the return change code to form a single transaction in the send! This helps to provide a good feedback loop into the chain to deal with the splitting operation done by the Proof of Stake system by sending a percentage of coins back to itself as part of the change (remainder) from a normal send operation.
