I have my coins in paper wallets. Will I have to send them over to bittrex by a certain date? What happens to the other people who aren't paying attention, do they get their coins voided?
There should be a built in way for me to convert my coins in the actual wallet. Well they should convert automatically but you want to do force everyone to have a vanity address which prevents an auto coin swap. Yes you'll have to get them moved to a Bittrex account -- we have tentatively agreed to do the swap on May 4th. As for the others? Considering that we have been socializing out a swap now for well over six months and the fact that Bittrex ended trading on Dec 30th -- we have to assume that anyone not paying attention has already assigned a value of ZERO to their coins and have written them off. For what it's worth, we have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in place that precludes Strength in Numbers from "trading" in 2GIVE (at the advice of our attorney's) -- so post swap on Bittrex the only way anyone is going to trade V1 is by convincing some other exchange to do it for them -- since we will EOL all support and interest in the chain. One of the side benefits we believe of 2GIVE is that we will ask any exchange to disable "staking" which should encourage stakeholders to keep fewer coins outside of their wallets to help limit the damage from theft. To offset this we are planning on adding "Exchange" support inside the wallet that would leverage API keys to facilitate easier conversion within the system. There is a LOT more that is planned and unlike most of the other "brand coins" -- we have the backing and talent to make it happen. I hope you'll join us as a stakeholder in 2GIVE NOW to answer your new question -- 2GIVE is based on PPCOIN which is a different blockchain than BLACKCOIN which is what the original Givecoin was forked from -- combined with the fact that the X11 and Kimoto Gravity Well implementation essentially not only added NO VALUE or security -- it actually BROKE the chain at times causing it to seize up for days. We spent nearly 6 months trying to bolt POS onto it with little to show for it. What we are doing is no different than a "stock swap" -- trust me you don't want to keep using the shitty wallet and we see no reason to carry forward all that dead weight. -dvd

How can I move my coins to bittrex?
Well..that's a good question -- since I'm not entirely sure how you produced a paper wallet with V1 -- however if it were me, I would fire up V1 wallet, let it sync and then go to the console or command line and import the private key of the paper wallet and -rescan to find your coins. THEN I'd open an account at Bittrex and move my coins there -- afterwhich you can safely delete the V1 wallet. -dvd

I will do it the same way as you explained. This looks good. Thanks for all the hard work and getting this great idea for a coin back on track Do you have a link to the source code for V1 for me to install on ubuntu?

We also use Ubuntu and could make a tar.gz of the last viable source tree for you! -dvd

I have 0 connections. Do you have any addnodes?
It's times like this I wish BITTREX supported the cryptocoins that they list. I would love them to share their addnode. I would love it even more if they let me sweep my paper wallets/.dat file private keys into my BITTREX account.

I hope you're talking about V1 -- since V2 has seed nodes...

We are preparing to start the "AIRDROP" !!
We will be moving blocks of 100K coins around among the seed nodes shortly in preparation for the BIG SENDS to Bittrex.
Working through the final numbers now, but the plan is to put 1000 coin rewards (1% mandatory TXFEE) onto the chain for everyone to compete for by mining at a 15-30 minute interval (TBD) for the next 30 days so that when Proof of Stake eligibility kicks in, the chain will become self-sustaining with POS blocks popping at a reliable cadence.
The Bittrex "lottery"* will involve moving around 250 1M coinblocks to the exchange in preparation for the swap from V1 to V2 -- offering everyone the chance to compete for 100K coin rewards!!
* Using "lottery" tongue in cheek here -- no purchase necessary, just download the wallet software and turn on "setgenerate true" in the Advanced Console or via commandline if you're running a daemon version wink emoticon

Now it is not so actual. The number of blocks greater than 500: 2GiveCoind getblockcount 511 POW mining is limited to 500 blocks: static const int CUTOFF_POW_BLOCK = 500
int64 GetProofOfWorkReward(int nHeight, int64 nFees, uint256 prevHash) { int64 nSubsidy = 0 * COIN; //dvd double coinDifficulty = (double)GetDifficulty();
//dvd int64 rewardCalc = 1/(sqrt(coinDifficulty + 500)); // unused //dvd double buttCalc = 1/(sqrt(coinDifficulty + 500)); // unused
if (nHeight <= CUTOFF_POW_BLOCK) { nSubsidy = 1000000 * COIN; } else if (nHeight > CUTOFF_POW_BLOCK) { nSubsidy = 0; }
return nSubsidy + nFees; }

This is a new concept having POW+POS -- a lot of thought and research went into it's design -- I hope you will consider joining our stakeholder rewards economy! Also the new block explorer is online https://www.blockexperts.com/2give(You can see the POW support) -dvd

I'm all set for the “AIRDROP” with the wallet loaded and reporting “out of sync” at the 511 block height and have set “setgenerate true”. Also, I built the wallet from the git source code but needed to remove the line BOOST_LIB_SUFFIX=-mt from the .pro file to get it to build under Ubuntu 14.04. Is this the correct thing to do? (A search showed this answer to my build error: The -mt suffix had been removed. The installed Boost libraries are multi-threading safe.)

Yeah sorry, the "out of sync" has been fixed in the Release Candidate Two (RC2) that I'm hoping to push yet tonight. The boost stuff varies a little on each environment, depending on how it's installed (as packages or built up from source) -- there is a sufficient amount of error detection in the system that if there is an issue it will throw an exception -- you can also scan your debug.log file to see if there is anything unusual there. Thank you for joining us! Really appreciate the feedback and support... -dvd

The Air Drop has begun in earnest!
Every 30 minutes a 100K block is being pushed out to a node that will eventually send the 250M coins to Bittrex for the swap.
This means every 30 minutes you have a chance to win 1,000 2GIVE coins by running your wallet as a miner*
* Help / Advanced Options / Console / "setgenerate true"
