i have to run wallet for how much hours to get airdrop.

We have slow started the Air Drop to every 30 minutes -- a block of 100,000 coins will move from one seed node to another and there is a mandatory 1% TXFEE which means a chance to win 1,000 2GIVE every half hour.

Be sure to set the wallet to "setgenerate true" to enable the mining

Just because you're mining doesn't mean your miner found a block.

Obviously others have:

https://www.blockexperts.com/2give

In a two hour window there would have been a minimum of four chances to win the reward.  When there are more transactions on the chain there will be more chances to earn the 1% minimum TXFEE that is wired into every coin SEND TX.

2GIVE is unlike other chains in that it was designed from the ground up to focus on VALUE -- the mining code in the wallet does not endlessly try to find a block if there is nothing to work on -- only when there is TX in the memorypool does it wake up and try to mine a block when SETGENERATE TRUE.

The chain rejects empty blocks -- so there is no incentive for a large mining pool to try and mine 2GIVE -- except when it perceives that the block reward would be worth having.

Please read the white paper at http://bit.ly/2GiveCoin

LOL - yah I saw that!  Not sure who that is -- likely one of the fans on Facebook page since we announced the RC1 there first.

Ultimately what I want to do is move the dialogue off of bitcointalk to our own hosted "simple machines" site -- that is plumbed into an LDAP system for single sign-on (SSO) so people can take credit for their "stake"

This will be an important next step on the roadmap to enabling "stakeholder voting" with a "Get Verified" option that will use the digital signature features of the wallet to prove your ownership of a Give* address.  Once verified your status and rank in the community will be based on STAKE as well as things like how much you have given to the network in terms of TXFEE's and of course Hall of Fame status for generosity to recognized charities.

It's one of the ways we can cut down on the "haters" who come in here and trash talk the coin -- I don't mind if you're a stakeholder and have a vested interest in the ecosphere going forward.  As long as people can be "tough on the ideas and soft on people" -- all dialogue is welcome!

2016.04.28

We have begun the "airdrop" with a current 100K block move among the SNF GiveCoin* wallets which results in a minimum 1,000 2GIVE block reward by way of the 1% mandatory minimum TXFEE.

Every wallet is eligible to compete via "setgenerate true" in the Help / Advanced Options / Console or from the command line.

We are currently pushing transactions every 30 minutes to help seed the future Proof of Stake eligibility in the network which will make the chain self-sufficient after the first 30 days.

We plan to increase velocity to a 20 minute cadence once we see additional stable connections on the seed nodes.

ADDITIONALLY:  Once Bittrex gets its 2GIVE wallet plumbed into their system we will begin RANDOMLY moving 1M coin blocks to them which will create 10,000 coin rewards.  We'll announce that window when we get the Give* address from them.

NOTE:  The current Strength in Numbers Foundation (SNF) nodes are NOT competing -- furthermore the GiveCoin* wallets have their staking disabled at the moment which means the POS activity will be largely on you the stakeholders.   If after 30 days there are not sufficient stakeholders running live wallets staking, SNF reserves the right to enable staking in its genesis GiveCoin* wallets in the interest of chain stability as well as producing additional coins for distribution.

 The last few years of testing, seeing all the possibilities of this new improved coding era brings much hope in the future & development of our next generations. Not really sure how to explain it (my words mean nothing to most, as I do not have a perfect life & have followed to many paths among my walks in life), having tried so many times & each mind interprets my explanation of this universal code different. So I know just say it's everything (or can be everything if coded right), operating systems & applications are making the world a better place (even for the ones who deny change & constantly slowing our light years, of what could be).

P.S. Great work on the GUI coding of the 2Give wallet (app), really like all the improvements & custom Give2osX addy (random generator seems to read my mind with many of these tests).

I share the same enthusiasm and excitement -- most days I joke when people ask me how I am doing I reply:

"Cautiously Optimistic"

Open Source ==> Freedom

I believe that very deeply.

The fact of the matter is, "If I have seen further it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants"

2GIVE would not have been possible without all the hard work and many missteps of many others before me.

My hope is that this "experiment" (and yes, I believe all crypto, even Bitcoin is an experiment) -- will yield some useful results -- I have crafted the chain and the wallet to behave in ways that I believe are more VALUE driven -- and better for the overall planet with the way mining operates.  I'm hoping that people will hold more of their coins in their own wallets versus risking their loss at an exchange.

From here the big plans will be focused on finishing the first release of the "Gift*" functionality that will allow anyone to create paperwallets within the application for the express purpose of "social tipping" in the real world -- when coupled with a mobile wallet (IOS to be based on BreadWallet) -- we will raise awareness for 2GIVE and crypto in general.  When and IF we work out a deal with a BTM network like CoinOutlet.io -- we will have an place to show people how crypto could work in a social tipping manner.   (By social tipping I'm talking about leaving paper wallets for service industry personnel like bartenders and wait staff who tend to be good amplifiers for new ideas)

Once that's done we'll work in building out the Donate system to pull a digitally signed feed of approved charities and pro-social causes from the Do a Bit of Good website.

All the while building out the community infrastructure to support a "stakeholder" based voting model -- more to come here.

As for your Give* address I can see in the block explorer that you are now official a "stakeholder" in 2GIVE!

addnode=204.246.68.172

I'm trying to send my coins to bittrex.com. I also get 0 connections with this addnode. I'm using a really old version on windows called givecoin-qt.exe

should be up

tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:31415           0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      2296/givecoind

(FWIW the original Givecoin devs had it listening on port 31415 -- aka "pi" Tongue )

you could try and exclusive

connect=204.246.68.172

How to switch that setting in the windows client?

that command would go into a givecoin.conf file in your AppDir/givecoin folder

There is a way to do it from the command line -- you could try stopping it and starting it from a cmd shell with

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Strength In Numbers Foundation, a non-profit digital trust is pleased to announce the following news regarding its flagship crypto currency 2GIVE, the Bitcoin of charitable giving:

Bittrex.com has confirmed their 2GIVE wallet is online and we have their deposit Give* address in hand! Here is the schedule for the next 10 days:

Sunday May 1st - Sunday May 8th

~ 250M 2GIVE will begin flowing to Bittrex in 1M coin blocks randomly throughout the week creating an 10K block reward available to POW miners

Sunday May 8th:

Deposits of GIVE v1 accepted through midnite

Monday May 9th:

Bittrex will swap GIVE for 2GIVE

Tuesday May 10th:

Exchange opens for 2GIVE including deposits and withdrawals.

We have confirmed that Bittrex will NOT be staking coins -- in general storing your coins at an exchange is not a smart move anyway -- but here your ability to earn Proof of Stake (POS) interest rewards is all on you! Based on holding coins in your wallet for a minimum of 30 days

More information can be found at https://2Give.Info

It connected to 1 client and downloaded some of the blockchain. It hasn't been moving now for a long time. Could you set up some more nodes or ask bittrex to kindly share their node?
