Update

Halcyon Beta Website
http://halcyon.pw/

Not completely done functionally but is done visually. Store HAL functionality being worked on.

Updated Halcyon Press Release

Download:
http://halcyon.pw/HalPressRelease-September21st2014.pdf

Very deep in work lately! Some of the goals I set in roadmap were a little too hard to meet but I have edited it and shouldn't need to deviate from schedule again. It's mostly myself working on all this with a few others contracted temporarily or donating time, so thanks for your patience.

Updated Roadmap:
www.halcyon.pw/roadmap

HAL is being added to Mintpal V2, possibly today if there are no delays.

http://blog.moolah.io/2014/09/17/mintpal-plans-for-v2-migration/

As promised the Peersend GUI functionality is completed, with a release today or tomorrow after I finish all testing. I only added a button to the Coin Control features as I've seen as a standard. I still intend to add status notification messages and graphical representations of the PeerSend network in the future.

The system for PeerSend additional rewards for masternode owners is underway. I am considering increasing the POS staking even more for users running masternodes, possibly to 15% from the default of 9% POS interest.

A Halcyon Promotional Video has been created by a community member:

http://youtu.be/Uua0O8i8hfw

Halcyon website is nearly completed. I intend to launch tomorrow and add the store features soon after.

New article on CryptoArticles, I will also be sending the new press release out.

http://www.cryptoarticles.com/crypto-news/halcyon-peersend-gui-completed-masternode-payouts-in-beta-new-roadmap-later-today

Halcyon Coin is a decentralized digital currency, launching August 16th 2014 with a Proof of Work (PoW) period lasting approximately 9 days.  Halcyon was developed so the PoW period would run simulataneously with the Proof of Stake phase (PoS), which eventually took over the blockchain as a means to confirm transactions.  Halcyon was launched with no Premine or IPO.  Stake holders are rewarded for holding their coins, at a rate of 9% annually.  This rate also compounds on itself, and the staker is rewarded transaction fees as an extra incentive.  Halcyon users with wallet balances greater than 2000 coins will soon be able to participate as masternodes, which will provide another source of residual income.  There were a total of 1.62 million coins produced by the end of the PoW phase.  The x15 algorithm was chosen so as to give individuals the best chance to acquire coins, with the least amount of multipool and asic interference.

Halcyon is a world pioneer in true anonymous peer-to-peer digital currency.  With the announcement of PeerSend on September 9th, users are now able to send coins to anyone they please, with no central service doing the mixing.  This technology was developed and tested well before launch, so the community would not have to wait months on a promise.  Dan Metcalf of XDCoin has reviewed the code for Halcyon, to make sure there was no malicious areas that could be exploited further on, something that has been prominent lately in the industry.  Dan has also reviewed the PeerSend code.

While all of this work was happening in the background, prominent exchanges listed Halcyon and it was an instant hit. Core functionality was being produced and released almost daily, following the release of the development roadmap.  So far the track record for meeting deadlines has been positive.

Please note this thread is moderated, only 3 posts to date have been removed.  Criticism is fine, but outright spam and abuse is not.

PeerSend is the decentralized peer-to-peer anonymous send technology for Halcyon.  Provided below are links to the Whitepaper and Infographic:

Infographic:

Whitepaper:
http://halcyon.pw/Halcyon-PeersendAnonymousTransactionWhitePaper.pdf

Sending Anonymous Transactions

To send a Halcyon PeerSend Anonymous Transaction:

Download the anonymous wallet:

https://mega.co.nz/#!d0NVSTxI!vnGgNsVsz1ntka_XzlUHmuVX2-9WRwVdeEZIhyHO3tM

The first Peersend anon master nodes have been added to the standard wallet DNS node lookup, but until these are fully propagated around the world you should add these to your halcyon.conf:

addnode=104.131.57.47
addnode=162.243.134.246
addnode=162.243.36.48

Open and wait for your wallet to sync.
Click Help, then Debug Window, now Console.
To send via Peersend the syntax is as follows:

peersend destAddress 100

Where destaddress is the wallet you wish to make anon transaction to and 100 is the number of coins you wish to send.

If you wish to become a peer node, add the following variables to your halcyon.conf:

peernode-peermaster=1
staking=0

The current requirement is 2000 HAL to function as a node. The code to pay rewards to nodes is still in final testing stages and will be updated soon.

If you would like to arrange an interview with Hal9000, please PM on bitcointalk or send an e-mail to halcyonpress@gmail.com

Personal Message from Halcyon Developer Hal9000:

It was months ago when I decided to begin this journey, I was really nervous about the competitive nature of cryptocurrencies and the sheer amount of work needed to stand out in a sea of never ending projects.  I was hesitant at first, thinking friends and family would see this as a distraction from my goals in life, but it wasn't until my girlfriend said she would support me and wanted me to do the things that would make me happy.  It's funny how you make life decisions mostly based on how you think others will judge you, and at the end of the day, all you ever do is what you hope will reflect positively.  I love working on Halcyon, this is the first thing I check in the morning morning, and end most nights trying to get out an update.  My girlfriend edits my posts because English is not my first language, and because we are working on this together, it brings us closer.  It's something we can talk about, and brainstorm together.  I feel like I am finally living for myself, while contributing to this currency phenomenon that we all believe so strongly in.  I thank you all for joining me on this, I had no idea it would be this successful.  I really do believe I can make a business out of this, you may have caught by now that there are serious long term incentives in Halcyon.  The PoS system, masternodes, nootropics store, and so forth are ways that I can sustain myself while thinking up new ways to promote this project.  I appreciate all of the support, you are my target audience, every update I release is aimed at the community.  I have no boss, only a community and a self imposed development deadline, and you all do a fine job keeping me focused.  I have always been a bit of a dreamer, and cryptocurrency is now my outlet, so I hope you are all ready to see how far I can take this.

Thank you all
-Hal9000

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Why are you blaming IPOminer for this.

LOL  first of all, IPOminer does not mine x15.

Secondly, you would see the coin listed on the IPOminer page, which it isnt.

How do you launch without pools for us to mine in? This makes a launch much more fair, wouldn't you say?

 6ghs already?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=186785
Here is the link to my trust settings here on forum. This trust system is very unfair. I make good on every deal Ive ever made. I had many, many deals as you can see and I never scammed anyone. All it takes is a random account to give you negative trust and youre screwed. Tomatocage has never even talked to me ever but when the random acct hit me with negative trust, Tomatocage came right behind him and marked neg trust again so obviously he was the one who did it. You can look at Tomatocage trust and see how many of his compeditors at the currency exchange thread he labeled scammers. I never scammed anyone. My trust was green over 20 before this. I hope it never happens to you because the mods cant help you.

Anything new/different/innovative here?

Yes I plan to add features and talked to some merchants about reselling product for them for HAL, depending on community response. The network is stable now and diff is leveled. We waited the 5 minutes promised in the ANN, we will build block explorer asap and/or buy explorer, and are sharing info. Still many many more large blocks and they being solved at fair rate closing in to 1 per minute target. I hope for 1 and a half to 2 weeks of mining.

There is SysCoin tomorrow which looks very good! I don't have the big money of his team. I can say --- Halcyon is my baby project and if it is good, I work hard to make it better! and have friends to help build us.

It was my wrong understanding that the pools would quickly come and advertise, but I see that it is forbidden now. Now Im contacting pools on IRC and asking them to join. Blocks are still fair and many coins are left, is only block 164 of 2000 of the very largest blocks in rewards as I type.
