Those chinese bricks make A LOT of heat, well never actually seen the bfl ones but I'm going to guess they are only 60% efficient.
Damn that pretty bad. A good 80Plus Gold PSU should serve me well then and save a few $ in electricity costs. I'm wondering, do you guys recommend a PSU with a single 12V rail for powering fpga boards or it doesn't matter. I saw a good deal on a Antec HCP-750 modular 80 Plus Gold PSU but it has 4 12V rails, which IMHO should still be ok as I can put each group of fpgas on a separate rail, but I just wanted to get the opinion of you folks first.

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Well, most will give you this info in the manual. Hmm, let's see if I can find a reasonably priced 80plug gold PSU with single 12v rail...

So they will reduce price by $10 if you don't include power supply?
I wonder what they will reduce if you don't need USB cables...
I might get the power bricks anyways - might help for resale (if that day comes).

Yeah I was expecting $20 off each. I wouldn't have done it if I knew before hand it was only $10. I would rather have had the backup power supplies.

Hey Cablez, I'm definitely interested in these, have you supplies arrived yet? I'm thinking about getting 3 or 4, would you have enough to make that many?

Hi xDGDZEx, Yes my supplies have arrived and I am already burning through them with orders. I can handle larger quantities so no problems. Just shoot me a PM and we can discuss what will work best for your setup. Regards, Cablez

Just wanted to post and mention that my order of cables arrived. I ordered a set with various gauges/plugs/lengths for an FPGA cluster and I am very pleased. They are all very well made and working perfectly. Based on this order I'd recommend this service to anyone interested. Thanks again.

Also -
PSA for anyone using power cables with 6-pin PCI-e adapter plugs on one end:
Do NOT inadvertently plug your adapter cable into an 8-pin EPS12V line on your PSU. The keying on the molex plug is compatible so it will fit, but the polarity is REVERSED and you will potentially destroy your hardware.
I learned this the hard way.

Thanks very much allinvain. I do what I can. I am really interested in seeing how my work looks in everyones' setups. It really is just a shameless plug for some FPGA pr0n but hey that's the kind of guy I am. So definitely put up some pics of your now clean FPGA rigs and make me drool.
