By May, we should have (a) added a few more TTs, and (b) be ready to add some blocks of equity DVCs. This project is in its infancy, and it's a fine thing to see how DVC have appreciated, and how they are sought after.

DataRetriever trade offer: 30.5kg UNO for AUD$85.00-- (This is cragv's Un-Ex 'merchant' account that will be used for all business transactions involving cryptocurrencies here on the Un-Ex. Future merchants (ie. businesses large and small) who wish to accept cryptos as payment will be able to make an account on the Un-Ex and then list a trade here. The aim is that they'll be able to quickly swap cryptos for fiat currency with the help of our Liquidity Engine. See the Trade Tracker for the first of such transactions. You'll see this new user is colored Red on the tracker. I'm maintaining a list of merchant accounts who join here in the forum so that when they list a trade on the tracker, they'll automatically be hi-lighted for speedy attention. This is where IMZ's $250 liquidity pledge is useful (see his daily posts, at the bottom). I'm offering to sell the 30.5kg UNO I've just received in exchange for AUD$85. Obviously, any transaction involving fiat currencies will be better facilitated by a Un-Ex TT member in the same country as the merchant. For this first test run, IMZ Mark will take my offer and hey, presto: I'll have fiat currency for the sale I've just made with cryptos!)

The Un-Ex vision gets one step closer to reality today: the liquidity engine is operational! The very first merchant transaction has today been successfully completed here on the Un-Ex! - It was Australian (our local chapter is growing - tell your friends and do the same);
- This merchant (my business, Data Retriever) was paid in crypto for a product/service;
- The newly-received crypto was then offered on the Un-Ex Trade Tracker for conversion to fiat (AUD);
- The trade was successfully completed within hours of posting.
- =Happy Merchant (I received my payment in fiat and my books are balanced)
- =Happy Trader (a TT obtained UNO at current prices without fees)!
Trusted Traders, consider pledging liquidity in your available fiat currency as your resources allow and watch the utility of this simple mechanism grow as more merchants (sellers of goods and services) can find an active, local and trusted exchange ready to help them accept cryptocoins without interruption to their operations. Today, we're on the Bitcointalk forum and using a shared online spreadsheet. Tomorrow, watch us grow!

Just a thought: at some point, this could move to an indepedent website, but decentralized, still. Every participant would have a couple of contact email addresses, or the coordination can even occur on the blockchain. When the evil jackboots machinate, attacking the website, there's very rapid, instant recovery!

Thanks B. There's only so much you can do with a spreadsheet and the whole forums+sheets is a bit of a clunky, stop-gap measure to help simplify the trading process (and is being refined as we go). Plans are being made to move to a more elegant solution.
Having a stand-alone website is an unavoidably centralized thing to run, but as you say, the decentralized nature of the Un-Ex is that it's not a website; rather, the Un-Ex is the community of Trusted Traders + Merchants that the website would serve. We just need a central place to conveniently buy and sell. With redundancies in place, the Un-Ex could continue to function without the website being available after a malicious attack: for example, we might have a Facebook community page that would be a point of contact in the event of a hacked or DDoS'd website. It would tell people what's going on and might direct them to a Google Sheets spreadsheet (or whatever secondary service) that would be already automatically up-to-date with the numbers on the website before it was taken offline, so that all current trades would be reflected there and things could continue while we got things sorted on the main site.
Many things to consider and while I've taken the initiative to make the spreadsheet, this is everyone's project. I'm doing things piecemeal as personal resources permit and absolutely welcome collaboration and combined skills to build this thing as we, ourselves discuss and define what we're doing. I am attracted by IMZ Mark's vision for the greater 'Crypto Mall' as it were and am working on laying building blocks as we slowly move towards it becoming a reality.

Thanks all, expect an update soon that better organises all the detail. We'll stick in a spreadsheet format for now while we expand and test 'features' of the Un-Ex, then once we have enough of a structure to work with, I'll start looking at database solutions and website integration. Talent is welcome and invited as I'm a hardware guy rather than a coder, but for now we're hashing things out so can go step by step.
More to follow soon!
