I understand there are people using miners as heaters. I wonder what are the electricity consumption rates compared to a real heater.

People use miners as heaters to reduce energy costs. I am afraid that the mining rigs will never be more cost-effective than conventional heating, but of course it depends on the method of heating and local prices.

If you can make some profit from the mining, or even very little profit. The miners will be more cost effective.

I think they are OK in the respectability department. However, none of the cloudmining products they offer at the moment has much of a chance to be profitable due to the bitcoin halving event that will happen around Julyish. I would wait until Bitmain offers a better product, backed by a more efficient ASIC farm.

Hashnest is one of the legit cloud mining provider. They ran over two (or maybe three) years.
Aside of other cloud mining provider, you won't get your ROI because of the market price and the payout.

I am assuming that you meant; are they as effective at heating for the same power draw.  They are almost exactly the same, no one should be running a space heater.

I understand Japanese families have some heating elements on the grounds of their homes. I wonder if it could be heated by the heat generated from miners. Haha.

Yes you can. Efficiency (electricity-to-heat) will be around 30%

and about the profitability, you get 100 days brekeven period if you buy an A7 so after 75 days you may incur in a little break.

It is not true

You will need ~6 month with the same difficulty and BTC price as it is right now

i think they cannot add other coins just so easy, because they have real farm of antminers and they can mine only bitcoins. to mine other coins, they will need other pools and miners

This is not going to be sustainable for long if BitCoin price wont rocket to the stars...

what hashnest is going to do about that?

What Hashnest is doing - and very effectively: making a super profit

Sometimes - when the interests of Hashnest coincide with ours, we also get some profit

Alts are crap and money vote against investing in it

Agree I believe in HashNest,I just wonder before investing if they are going to provide a better equipment bargain to deal with the bitcoin halving countdown, which will allow user to still profit by hashing.

I'm not the Hashnest, but I can answer you: no, they will not provide a better bargain neither on equipment nor on anything else

They will charge +150% to new equipment.

They will get a profit from a) mining with new equipment b) selling this new equipment to customers c) selling hash power to customers d) percentage from trading with hashpower

Your profit is out of Hashnest interest - it is only your business.

There shouldn't be, but the markets are not rational and people will overspend even though everything points to non profitability.

Who's hiding all of the 16nm ASICS? I can't seem to find any available for sell. Is Bitfury using them for their own farm and not sharing? Also, does Bitmain have one and isn't sharing with us? Or is the 16 NM just a myth? I think it sucks if these big ASIC manufacturers are just keeping the new technology to themselves and don't release to us little guys until the difficulty is risen sky high, and we have little or no chance to ROI. Where is the spirit of decentralization? Guess Satoshi didn't think corporations would be such hogs!
