Take a look at this discussion, what are your thoughts on this?

https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3621

Quote
I have 22TH of S7 mining power on Hashnest that this week looks like it has made $10.xx from Monday-Friday. I understand about the halving so let's not preach that here please.

My concern is that I have 2 S7 miners hosted at a data center that are making around $3 each after the halving. My question is how are my 2 S7 antminers being hosted at a data center making more in one day @ 6-7 TH than my 22TH miners at Hashnest in a week?

Quote
I'm using a place called ASICSpace to host my physical mining hardware. They are in Washington State USA. I have two S7 miners hosted with them making $3/day each which is around 6-7TH. Here at Hashnest I have 22TH of S7 mining power and it looks like my weekly take away this week will be around the $12 mark if I'm lucky which will average out to around $2/day. How the hell does that work? LOL

Here are my thoughts:

If the person you are quoting here do not understand the definition of luck, cannot calculate price of electricity, have no idea what is the meaning of maintenance fee - all his major achievement in this life will be $3 per day. Which is unbelievable $90 per month.

Do not be stupid as he

No need to be this rude, he was making a good point. And luck shouldn't factor in at all, as you claimed, provided he has all of his machines pointed at Antpool.

Hashnest is in China and the Data Center in the comparison in Washington, USA. Since the biggest part of the maintenance fee is electricity, it begs the question why the maintenance fee in China is higher than in Washington, when electricity prices in China are FAR cheaper. And what about other factors to consider when calculating a maintenance fee? Cost of labor? Cheaper in China. Real estate cost / rent for the space? Cheaper in China. Additional parts you may require, like cables, fans, everything to keep your operation going? Cheaper in China.

So why is the Hashnest maintenance fee higher than the fee of a USA data center? That's the question to consider. And I think the answer might be a built in profit margin in the Hashnest maintenance fee.

Yes I think this is a very good point. Hashnest is most likely setting maintenance costs artificially high. Energy/real estate is dirt cheap in China which is why most miners want to be there. Maybe if we all complain about the unrealistic maintenance costs they'll take some action

1) Rude. My apologies to you for that.
2) Luck. Nobody screamed and bitched when Ant has a 7 days in a row luck ~120%. Now we have for 3 month 98%. It means that this mining oligarch who is making whole solid $3 per day lost for 3 months (90 days) $5.4. It is whole $1.8 of pure loses per month.
3) Maintenance fee. Obviously inability to get a full profit from datacenter immediately puts the managers of this datacenter into the definition of idiots. Chinese here got the full advantage of being world's largest colo for ASICs
4) Profit model. Yes - maintenance fee is a part of profit for HashNest

Summary:

If you dont like Hash - buy miner and colo in WA.
If you are looking for company which will build their profit model around your satisfaction - you better try to find a qualified medical help to get rid of these illusions

That was all he was asking about. That was his suspicion and you basically confirmed it. He never asked about luck (as it doesn't factor in AT ALL in his example, you should re-read what he has posted) or any of your other useless contributions. So why are you still being this rude and calling him a delusional idiot when he brought up a point you ended up confirming? A very good point I might add. That example he pasted from the Bitmain forum was very valuable in that it showed how big the gap between a regular data center maintenance fee and that of Hashnest is. A small part of the maintenance fee being a built in profit margin would be fine but the huge gap from the example shows that this might be an issue. (And keep in mind that the US data center probably has a profit margin built into their own maintenance cost as well, yet this huge gap exists..)

I don't believe Hashnest will do anything about their maintenance fee, though, even if we all complained. As long as they're making money and their customers are making a little bit of money, nothing's gonna change. Even after they've become nonprofitable, I highly doubt they're going to adjust their maintenance rate as that would cut into their sales of S9 machines, which will come to Hashnest as soon as the S7s become obsolete.

All are very good points (original topic was modified by me - ps_jb, you can read OP above)

The concerns brought from HashN forum look important from the first look, however they are simple hand waving. Person with 22THs will never ever has an influence on big elephant in the room.
Even if 95% of all users will sell their shares at HN (which is probably 1% of total shares) - they will not change the their model. I did like Don Quixote book being teenager - but nowadays fighting windmills is kinda delusional (some even can call it idiotic).

Anyway - I agree with you that problem on gap exists. You agree with me that HN will do nothing with it. So peace and friendship. I BTW respect how calm and well behaved you are!

Domain name value is very low, only around 10$.
Why do they not extend 5 or 10 years?

Last year, their website has also been shut down because of expired domain names. Such odd poor that they do not renew the domain name for 5 years for important Huh

I just checked the Hashnest app in my phone and is working like it should although I don't see any orders to buy or sell my GHS for example. Since this thing also happened last year I think they should replace their webmaster with someone more experienced but this is nothing to worry as the website will up and running in no time. Its the only legit cloud mining website out there.

I have 2 step to go hashnest.com

Step 1: Go to

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc

Step 2:  open file :  hosts  (Run notepad as Administrator)

Add the last line:
52.196.86.240 hashnest.com
52.196.86.240 www.hashnest.com

Finish.

I think, the hashnest will die over 48 hours because domain expired. They can not renew domain now.  Smiley
