The hack is a very serious setback, but a rollback is certain death for OPAL. The hacker wants money, not 51% to kill OPAL
You can still get money by killing Opal as you dump (or double-spend attack) at the same time. Your logic is flawed. Also please stop referencing 51%, that is for Proof-of-work attacks, not Proof-of-stake, which needs much less. Reading your past posts, you sound like you either are the hacker, or know the hacker based on how hard you're fighting for him to keep his coins. Just my own personal opinion.

But im with him. I personally think, no rollback will be best for Opal. Just take a look at: http://www.coindesk.com/bter-nxt-bitcoin-exchange-hack/

I'm fully aware of NXT, and it's network and support is far from dead. They paid a hacker ransom.
Since you're in favor of the hacker keeping the OPAL, I assume you want us to pay him a ransom too like NXT/bter did to get them back?

I just want to say I think that a rollback in this early stage of this coin, will kill it. I prefer having the hacker dump a slice of coins now and then, and keep Opal alive.

From reading your past posts you sound about 5'11" 180 pounds, brown hair, slightly balding, married with two kids, but secretly yearning to be free and 'experiment' ... then again that's just my own opinion, and maybe it's ridiculous to make assumptions

Yes, I'm sure we can expect that the hacker will be ethical in his dumping them, since he was so ethical in stealing them too. I'll let the devs figure it out. I've said my bit, and don't want to hog this thread. This is my last word until the roll back happens.

The hacker is an opportunist out for personal gain, so a slow steady sell off maximises his gain Also, here is the thread from when NXT faced the same situation. Very good reading all 90 pages .. look at all those possible hackers arguing in favour of NO rollback lol Are they all hackers too? https://nxtforum.org/news-and-announcements/forgers-have-been-faced-with-a-choice/

You think the hacker will dump 6/7 BTC of Opal on Bittrex as soon as the markets go up? Immediatly selling to every last buyer? No. This will cause the price to drop drastically, the last thing the hacker wants. You'd have to be really dump to steal that amount of coins, and try to sell it at once. this hacker isnt stupid.

I think toldy was one of the poor unfortunates who downloaded the dodgy OPAL and got hacked, that's why he's arguing for rollback so adamantly. Indeed I am the hacker, toldy has blown my cover wide open, the evidence against me is very compelling, I'm arguing strongly to keep the essential aspect of crypto currencies intact - the blockchain, so yes, I must be the guilty hacker. If toldy promises to be fair I nominate him to be the 'negotiator' in what follows. My demands "I want Vitalek Buterin to admit that etherium is a scam or I will destroy OPAL. you have 24 hours to comply" I only communicate with toldy from here on!! You have 24 hours

Even though I didn't loose any Opal (which im surprised at considering I got fooled too). $1000 of another coin was stolen from me last night. I know how it feels to loose and I hope that the rollback happens.

It's terrible people lost coins but the blockchain should be sacred, you can't compensate for human error every time, so the only consistent stance is to let things stay as they are. Not good if you lost coins but such is life.

I think no matter what decision comes from here, we can and must only support. Opal coin is nothing without his followers and supporters. We are facing a decision with 2 ends in here and for sure Opal team cant please everyone. Some will be happy, some will be upset with the decision they make. Only thing that has to be done now is to support who brought us here so this coins continues to evolve like it was doing so.
As an investor, I trust Opal team to do whats best for the coins and, therefor, whats best for me.
I ask you all to do the same as me. We trusted them so far, lets keep on trusting them so we can solve this and get stronger than ever.

The users didn't break the law by clicking the link, the person who violated their personal property did. It's no different then someone breaking into your house because you left a window unlatched. The hacker made a malicious effort to deceive users and seize that opportunity to steal their possessions.
I was affected by this and I've been using computers and been on the internet for 15 years and I have never had anything like this happen to me. This was not accidental or going to some random site. In about 5 minutes I realized something was odd and attempted to correct it, suddenly my computer was forced into an immediate restart.
You say, "How do you propose to defend users from their own stupidity next time?", I say, "How do we make it so attack like this are not profitable and more trouble then its worth?" Heinous actions like this hurts all of crypto. User protection is top priority.
I Vote rollback.
voted rollback as well, for the same reasons as stated in the post above.

Maybe everyone has already done this but we should all check balances of coins held in wallets on same machine as Opal. I lost 4000 Block yesterday. Can't be quick enough to catch these scum.

To those who were robbed, was your wallets encrypted? Was only opal the target, or you lost other wallets too? To the dev team, is it possible to integrate updates inwallet? So wallet notify you about update, and either does it automatic or show the corect download link. Not sure a rollback will do any good atm...
