Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I recently joined SolarCoin using the SMA / Sunnyportal connection.
Had some problems first and got a 'validation error'. This was resolved by generating a new wallet address.

Anyway, it now says 'SolarCoinPending'. What's the average time for approval?

It can vary.  We the community cant tell you exactly, in the old scheme it was paid every six months, but the Foundation are trying to do it more regularly.  Not much activity on Bitcointalk nowdays, you are more likely to get help on the general contacts https://solarcoin.org/contact/

Over 2,000 net-new claims paid in May, looks like there was a backlog, but still that's great growth.  Source: https://solarcoin.enapter.com/transactions?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=aagrt

Global node distribution is also becoming very healthy with hundreds of peers all over the globe, impossible to get a true representation but there are nodes as far afield as New Zealand, South Africa, Chile and Canada, with major concentrations in Australia, Germany and USA.

Things are looking bright, to the Sun!

Glad to hear it, dont forget you can stake your $SLR for an additional 2% income, and you will be supporting the SolarCoin blockchain by doing so.

I'm staking already Cool
Just wanted to buy some more SLR for staking, but it seems hard to get.
I trade some SLR on Livecoin.net, but their SLR wallet is offline so I can't transfer Sad
Any other exchanges with a working wallet?

539 new claimants in July.
417 new claimants in August.

Project continuing to grow.
Hopefully the migration to Ethereum will happen in the near future.
From my understanding, they are still considering a coin burn of 90% of the offline coins.

I tried to register my Solar Edge solar system 2 years ago and I tried it again today... It's near impossible to understand / deliver what they ask to register so I gave up.

Only for SMA owners, there's a "one click register" so why don't call it "SMA Solar Coin"?

This is scaring away new users and it will never be a success as long as this isn't fixed.

It's too much effort for $0,06 worth of coins a year...

Check the slack

Not to bash Solarcoin... It's more a common problem for crypto projects...

If you create something like SolarCoin, why not make it easy for people to join?

I signed up, tried to get my solar setup registered, didn't understand what they need so I contacted support. But support doesn't respond.

So people leave... why bother for $0,07 a year...

Why do I have to find out about a Slack group on a random crypto forum? Why no better support on the website?

Crypto will never get any traction and adoption if we keep screwing up like this...

Thanks for your response anyway Wink

dead project for SURE. If you are smart you won't contribute any more time or money to this project unless you want to waste it. This coin is failed and BTC has already created a market for energy arbitrage.

Don't listen to those still trying to shill SLR because they want to dump bags on you. SLR is no longer needed, and cannot scale. BUY BTC INSTEAD Wink

There are currently around 13,000 solar power producers actively getting ongoing SolarCoin grants. Combine that with the people who are still a part of the SLR community, but haven't invested in solar power yet. The community is likely around 15,000 strong = NOT dead project.

The leaders are still active in the slack. Discussions are still underway regarding where SLR will head in the future. Still an option to migrate to Ethereum. Still an option to do 90% coin burn. And solar energy is still the promising energy of the future.

I realized the simple truth:

1. Bitcoin already solved this issue
2. This coin isn’t decentralized (see references to “the foundation”)
3. No major exchanges list this coin (and no one trades it)
4. No real development or community involvement (list all the “claimants” you want no one is using this coin in any meaningful way)

SLR has been on a slow death spiral since the last bull market. RIP all the funds people are dumb enough to keep putting into this market.

Don’t worry I won’t be coming back to this trash project. Just trying to help others avoid making my mistake Smiley
