For the power supply to your solar PC may I suggest this Solar Generator by GoalZero? It is WAAAAAAY simpler than hooking up all the other sh*t and it can be used with Goal Zero panels that have DC input, or with a  DC to MC4 converter for all other brands of panel.... plus if you watch the reviews you will see the software/charge controller in each is amazing.

It compares a 1.5million user BTC network and 1.5 million SLR network for energy, transaction cost and carbon load using electricity as a proxy.  If coal is used 1MWh is roughly equivelant to 1 tonne of carbon.

Sorry I was out and offline for a while.

Yes, I totally agree to simplify the design of the offline stand alone system node.
The ReneSola 250W modules are so heavy and huge! They are 1.64mx 0.99m and have these heavy aluminium frames. Not portable unless you have a small wagon or pickup truck.

The key ingredient is the charge controller for the associated batteries and the kWh Modbus TCPIP meter. I searched the market for a good 6 months. I only came up with the ACU unit. These are still quite pricey themselves at about 400 dollars/unit for just the kWh meter. Very high quality though.

I actually own a goal zero panel and an LED light for camping. These are very reliable and have never let me down so far when charging phones and cameras in the wilderness.

Now if you can please give me suggestions on the best way to connect these goal zero products to a system that incorpotes modbus TCPIP then we can make forward progress on making solarcoin nodes portable....

I love the starting points but here are a few things I would change...

1. the TCP/IP example is WAAAAY too complicated.. you should stick with using money or some fiat as an example to keep on track

2. get a more 'bubbly' and loud voice.. the voice being used is quite and doesn't sound formal or like a "movie voice"

3. get rid of the soft rock track.. this video kinda looks like it was made by a 50 year old man in his garage with windows media player (but I get that we are all poor here and no one has money to produce HAHA)

I actually think the TCP/IP example is pretty good.
Maybe we could all contribute so that the video is remade with a more professional voice.
I don't mind donating if the cause is for Solarcoin.

Maybe we can get someone who has experience creating videos for this little clip.  
But I like the idea, and we really do need to spread the word

Either way this video needs to be a bit shorter, simpler, & more flashy with updated graphics.. I would love to donate too with BTC, LTC, SLR as I know more funding always brings in more developers and active participants who can produce content to drive this ecosystem forward.

We should also be taking steps to distribute some of this coin to the public & those who don't yet know about this so the rub is more fairly distributed to encourage a network effect before claimants enter the space. Some say initial investor interest & speculation are often the fastest way to drive up price and bring others into any coin space, and having more holders would certainly increase the odds of that happening for SLR.


.... like public sign ups/giveaways where you can come download a wallet, and someone with a Whale-size amount of SLR can stake you while you chat with others about Solar related topics, & crypto too  



We could do this in schools, government buildings, solar related trade shows/expos, crypto events, religious buildings, ect.. you get the idea.

yes if you know how to tweak code a bit, but it is hard and not really ready for easy setup unless you just want a challenge.

Probably better to buy a cheap powerbook with a 40gb SSD and run this with Windows 10 or any other OS you can load up... but if you already have the Pi and such it is worth a try for sure

Definitely. I think the hardest part is to convince new people that don't know much about cryptocurrency.
It's really important the coins start spreading out a little more.
I have been actively telling my friends about Solarcoin and have given away a few 1000...
Speculators are definitely a great way to attract new users!
Since I live in an apartment I don't have any solar panels.. So i guess Im a speculator then 

I would not mind contributing my stake and give away my earned coins. This would be a lot easier to accomplish if Solarcoin had some kind of setup like NXT has called : ''balance leasing'' 
It enables you to ''give''your staking power to another wallet address. Basically enabling you to ''lease out ''your staking power to other users or another personal wallet. At the same time it increases security because you don't have to leave your main wallet connected to the interent to stake

How is SLR's difficulty adjusted with POST?

Is it the more coins are staking the more difficult it gets? How is the difficulty calculated otherwise?
I assume it's like that because of bitcoin where the more the difficulty rises the harder it becomes to mine bitcoins...

The white paper explains it: http://www.vericoin.info/downloads/VeriCoinPoSTWhitePaper10May2015.pdf  My crude understanding is that basically diff targets a 1 minute block based on historical submitters capacity to discover the block. however consensus on who's solution is "true" is determined by stake weight, so applying more power to be earlier in solution space or distributing computer power to have the most "solutions" submitted doesn't have a direct impact on the reward space outcome.
