long time ago, some people had the courage to sail to the edge of the world and risk to fall off, only to discover it is round

Some of us has that courage and inspiration now. We pay a lot of time and attention to make DarkNote the best cryptocurrency ever.

exactly. it was meant as a compliment to you. you are doing a great job!

for anyone it may concern: if you are cpu mining with an amd fx8350 and use the standard cooling unit,
it makes a big difference in cpu temperature if you replace the standard cooling unit with i.e. the  Scythe Tatsumi 1000B cooling unit (approx €23,-)
I did so today. Before when running 5 cores the cpu temp went already up to 62 C,
but now with this new cooling unit running 8 cores the cpu temp does not even go above a cool 43 C.

another thing I noticed;

mining through the new Darknote wallet with the first listed pool gives approx 150 H/s with 8 cores,
while using minergate with 8 cores results in 260 H/s  ..?

DarkNote client pool miner was made from scratch by XDN devs, so hashrate can be lower than other miners hashrate, because it is still in beta. We made a great work to implement mining in client, we are working on MAC version with miner and as well as .deb.
In next revisions we will try to accelerate DarkNote client miner.
Thank you for your revision!
If you would be so kind, can you reproduce your story on http://darknotetalk.org.

Also note, that problem is not with miner, but with client miner stats. Please, follow pool statistic, to be more accurate.

XDN messages features:

- Anonymous - you can`t say who is sender or who is receiver, you even can`t say for sure is there any message in transaction.
- Encrypted with strongest cryptography - only receiver can decrypt his message with his private key. (later we will implement tracking key cryptography for services, like Twitter)
- Attached to transaction, but can be send without money.
- Stored in blockchain, so you can read your message any time. Messages stored in decentralized and encrypted database.
- Processed by decentralized p2p network.

In fact, DarkNote is the only anonymous encrypted untraceable messenger and cryptocurrency.

Also private private messaging will boost XDN economy. In near time we will enable pool mining via Client.

So user can open DarkNote client application, press start mining button, receive some XDN and send his encrypted message.

Also we are thinking about file transfers in torrent like network aside of XDN network. We study that case.

Stay tuned.

Wow.  I must agree my fellow Hero member:

This may be the most significant cryptocurrency news that has taken place recently.

Private messaging is the first practical application of Cryptonote beyond anon payments and speculation.

But it won't be the last...

DarkCloud, DarkPoker, and ?? in 10, 9, 8....

Very good progress.

Long term thought... is there anyway to optimize/lessen the blockchain file size requirements? It seems a bit bloated in the CN family. Might be something to further set DN ahead of the others too.

Is there a way to "convert" old-style wallet (used with simplewallet.exe) into one which can be used via GUI wallet?
I tried to restore keys, but after pointing wallet.keys file, it always says that password is wrong

Are you using the latest https://github.com/ucknote/ducknote repository?

If so, please make sure you are launching:

1. New DarkNoted daemon - ./darknoted
2. Launching new Simplewallet - ./simplewallet

We watch blockchain size, and we recently moved blockchain our of RAM like no other Bytecoin fork.
If we will face the problem of big blockchain size, we will solve it.
And if you will examine cryptonote cryptocurrencies specs and stats, you will find that DarkNote specs are brilliant in terms of block target time intervals and default transaction capability.

You can`t import simplewallet files to new GUI now, but we will solve that problem in near DarkNote client release.
