Has anyone replaced the insanely loud fans on these units? Im looking for a solution cause the old lady is not going to put up with it all winter.

You could try this.

Is there any type of Rasp Pi image available with a nice web interface for these? Or just use wheezy and cgminer?

CrazyGuy was talking about making a Minera image for the RPi but I do not know where he is on it.

Here's my minera fork:
https://github.com/crazybitcoinguy/minera

I made minimal modifications to incorporate the ASICMiner and Rockminer cgminer fork, along with build functions for both versions. ckolivas merged in ASICMiner's changes to the main branch a few weeks ago, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to use the standard minera image instead. It's worth a shot if you are looking for something easy. Otherwise, follow the manual installation instructions in the readme.

Please note that I've yet to receive any usb-uart adapters, so this is untested with Prismas and Tubes. I have run successfully with 10+ New RBoxes on an RPi.

Also, the manual installation method should probably work on other debian based platforms, so feel free to try installing on your cubies and beagle bones. Just make sure you run build_miner.sh after installation on those devices.

Anyone using the USB adapters? cgminer can not find the miner...so I hot plug and nothing but errors

I have verified with Grapeape I have the dip switches and cables correct. I compiled cgminer-4.7.1 using --enable-blockerupter

I am using latest wheezy on a rasp pi and just tried it using a powered hub with same result.

We have 6 Prismas in our facility all running using the USB adapters, no problems.

5 are plugged into a powered hub then into a laptop.

1 is plugged directly into an RPi.

This part may or may not be an actual thing:
For me, when I plugged them in via USB, it seemed the board that I was plugging the controller cable into required all the pins to be down.  After that it didn't matter the config of the other pins, as long as they were all unique configs.  Otherwise it would spit out TONS of errors.

I am using the stock fan, but I've seen a few others using Silverstone Fans and fan controllers. I've had other people tell me to use other types of fans (I have not tried sliverstone) but the question would be what is the average temp of the room? Is the room your miner is in 85F? Are there other miners in the room? I'd recommend trying that fan with a controller if your room is not hot, I have tried many other fans like Corsair etc. and they were not strong enough since I have other miners in the same room.  Contact Michcolo, they are very good. Then give your wife the monthly bill Smiley It also might help to explain that you are making BTC with the miner, and that noise/heat is money Smiley

Has anyone replaced the insanely loud fans on these units? Im looking for a solution cause the old lady is not going to put up with it all winter.

Check out the dip switch diagram in the second post of my group buy thread. The least significant bit is opposite of the tube, so that can lead to some confusion. Also, don't set switch #5 or your boards won't be recognized. I think Sidehack said he couldn't get one running with the main cgminer branch, so make sure you try with ASICMINER'S fork as well.

I am now trying your build of Minera and using that diagram as "Miner 1" board 1 all switches off etc..

Edit: It sees the miner, but is not hashing...

Could you point these to Bitcoin Core for a try a solo mining / playings the odds?  Or does is the hashrate too high for Core to handle without a proxy?

Well I use Minera on several of my Scrypt ASICs so I know for sure my settings are correct. I am assuming this USB adapter is bad. SEGMINING told me his setup via PM and I have followed it exactly with no luck. I looked over every blade and they look just fine physically. I am really not sure what else to try at this point...I need either a known good USB adapter or a BE Controller to see what is up.

After writing this out, I have a question... are you executing cgminer as root/sudo?  You have to in linux or you can't access the USB devices.

Anyway, here is exactly how we configured a single Prisma that was originally giving us sync errors, etc.

All that we did to build cgminer - Note we run 4.7.0
Code:
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer.git

cd cgminer

./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-blockerupter
sudo make

Running cgminer settings inside of our startup script, cgminer.sh
Also, its not installed in a path-searchable location right now.
Code:
#!/bin/bash

URL=<pool url>
USER=<pool user>
PASS=<pool pass>

cd /path/to/cgminer
screen -dmS cgminer \
./cgminer \
--failover-only \
-o $URL -u $USER -p $PASS

To execute cgminer.sh
Code:
$ sudo /path/to/cgminer.sh

The hardware configuration is described in my beautiful GNU Paint image here

Hope this helps.

Wiped Pi and followed your setup...same errors. This makes 2 times in a row I have been burned buying AM gear. First I bought a tube with a completely dead BE Controller and now this.
