I need to stop staking now to be able to start staking with the new wallet within 24 hours ?

If you have more than 1 coin due to stake, you have two options. Stop all staking until the wallet fix, or set your reserve balance for everything except less than 1 coin. Reserving a balance prevents those coins from staking. You will stake the partial coin you did not reserve.

The caveat is that you will have to keep changing your reserve balance over and over many many times to get all your coins to stake, and keep in mind that your balance goes up as your coins stake.

Locking your wallet, or reserving all your coins does not effect your coin age. So once you start staking again after the fix, you will be able stake right away if they have matured (~24 hours)

Well, that's interesting...

While I was in the process typing out a post to bitch about not staking for shit and 50% "not accepted", it staked for the first time in the range of what it should be, instead of the .00001.

Amazingly coincidental timing!

once this issue is fixed, are we looking at a new wallet release? If this is the case I'm assuming the 24 hrs is reset once synced and unlocked? Can someone confirm this?

yes, there will be another wallet release. And by the end of this, if anyone wants to take me out back and shoot me, I'll understand.

if we do that who will mess things up and then fix them 2.5 seconds later? lol you're doing a great job man, keep it up. I'm just a little peeved that it hasn't all gone to plan since I bought a sizable amount and want to reap the benefits. In a case like this there is very little benefit to early investors.. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

Should be, cryptzo said it's only for chunks of coins more than 1 coin. so a full 1+ coins staking at once.

I had realized that I had left a wallet open and staking at work, so drove in to work just to see it was forked off on a different chain since it was an old wallet.

This coin is taking a lot of effort to keep on top of, but those that do, can maximize their potential and increase their own % share.

Also, as the first 24 hours is ending, we have a better idea of what the final coin count will be. Currently 2526, so maybe 2550 after 24 hours.

If the time line stays, and we still have 6 more days of 269%, that leaves a total possible # as 2550*3.69^6 =~ 6,500,000.

But there's also like 50 coins on bittex and still some in the mining pools, so that number may be less (or more if we're delayed with finding blocks and we end up getting more than 6 more days of 269% POS)

I mined for a couple of days and got small chinks of it too. I think the largest chinks was 1-2seed at the time in the end of that mining.. Can i coninue staking or keep the wallet locked ?

Look at your coin control to see the size and timestamp of each chunk of coins. If there is a chunk of 1 coinc or greater going to stake soon, then lock your wallet now.

Then you can decide to try and use the reserve amount method or just wait until the fix.

If you only have stacks of coins less than 1, you can continue to stake.

Ok. i see that i took out bigger chunks from the pool in the end due to the fee:s. I have several 1+ seed transactions that came in to my wallet. I will just keep the wallet locked then and wait for the fix.

All but one of my chunks are greater than 1 seed. If I only stake with the less than 1 amount by setting the reserve amount to the whole number, what does that do to my chunks if my fraction were to stake? I'm more curious than anything, and depending on when the wallet update comes out, this may be a moot point.

Yes, you DO have to keep on top of this one. Fortunately, nothing staked while I was sleeping Wink

I'm testing out the reserve method with just 0.01 coins. Doing that will then split up big chunks into lots of small ones, for better or worse.

Could then re-consolidate your coins again, but lose out on staking age that way.

It's definitely advantage to those with small #s of coins on this one, big wallets will likely stay locked, losing out some.

Well I figure I'll give it a try with less than one for now, but I'm kind of hoping the upgrade comes down before anything in my wallet stakes.

so did you end up locking your wallet? I think it's wise to state not too follow this thread to closely as well... I was watching all this unfold very closely and I ended up downloading the latest wallet last night on another computer and sending all my little chunks as one big transaction to my 2nd wallet (after recommendation from some users) and well now I'm being told that anything over 1 seed isn't staking... so now I'm again at a stand still waiting to find out what to do.. I could have just kept them all on my first wallet, in little chunks.. and not lost the pos for the first day.. what a world lol

Some good news for people with more than 1 coin due to stake. It is possible for you to continue to stake through this, but you'll have to do so carefully. Set ReserveBalance in your wallet to the whole number amount in your wallet. So if you have 10.24 seed, set reserve balance to 10 seed.

Just be sure to increase your reserve balance each time you stake more coins. You'll have approximately 2 hours after you stake to update the setting, since that's how long it takes to confirm the coins you staked before they get added to your balance.

You can find the Reserve Balance setting in the Settings > Options window, on the main tab. It's the second box down.

Help dev please! I had one chunk of 4.12 SEEDs received on block ~8800. Updated yesterday on satoshi 1.0.4. Today morning I had my 1st stake on block 10676 +0.05770758 SEEDs !? So there were 33 hours between receiving my coins and my 1st stake. Why the stake is so low? I expected more than 12 staked SEEDs, not 0.05 ?!
Now I have 2 chunks of ~2.1 SEED. What now? Should I use reserve balance or not? Should I redownload 1.0.2 version? I was expecting 269% stake as initiated in OP.

One more thing!
After stake, arrow on wallet (down-right) stayed green and still showing my weight vs network weight like it didn't stake before.
After closing and reopening wallet arrow stayed gray.
