I'm a fan of smart contracts but I see the problems SOIL has and beter wait for PoS version of Etherium.
The reward of 0.5 for each block is not profitable for miners also.

OK, to recap...  

RagingBull is proposing a coin swap for GAIA to an Ethereum-blockchain-based POW coin.

The new coin will have a block every 15 seconds at a rate of 0.25 coin per block.

The new coin will have a different name and BitcoinTalk thread.

The new coin's mining algorithm is DAGger. (Ethereum's wiki on mining with DAGger: https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/Mining)

Console, Windows and Mac wallets are on the roadmap for immediate release.

The swap will be a 1 to 1 exchange.

Personally, I am voting "Yes" (for the swap) as are two friends of mine (from irc channel #gaiacoin) who do not use BitcoinTalk (pcctw and webbyz.)

The conditions of the swap (all or nothing, etc) remain to be discussed and as our fearless leader, RagingBull, is out sick (more than chicken soup sick,) the details of the swap must wait for him.

GAIA Update regarding new Ethereum-based coin and planned partial swap:

The new Ethereum-based coin will be released this week to allow us time to iron out any initial issues
that might come up and give us time for mining pools setup, people downloading new wallets and
getting acquainted with using them etc...

- The new coin will have a total of 10 million coins on release.
- The new coin will be POW mined with the Dagger algo.
- Block time is 15 second at 0.25 coins per block.
- There will be a console wallet released along with windows/mac/linux wallets.
- The new coin will be announced on a new OP thread.
- The distribution of the 10 million coins will last for 3 weeks after the initial 1 week release.
- during the first week there will be no swap, until we are certain the new chain is running smoothly.
- for the swap purpose Gaia will be valued at 1000 SATS and the new coin will be valued at 5000 SATS
- during the second week Gaia holders will be allowed to swap up to 4 million new coins. 5:1 exchange ratio
- during the third week the coins will be offered for sale at 6000 SATS in BTC only.
- during the fourth week the new coin will be offered at 8000 SATS or exchanged for Gaia at 8:1 ratio
- At the end of the fourth week all remaining new coins will be burned. All Gaia swapped will be burned.
- Both Gaia and the new coin will share some developers, however, the new coin will be managed and promoted by Covertress.
- Gaia will remain on exchanges after the partial swap is completed, this is not intended to end the Gaia chain.
- What ever you choose to do whether swap all your Gaia, swap some, or swap none, it's completely your choice to do so,
  but once done this process can not be reversed. The exchange ratios in the 3 week distribution period are final.

* if for any unseen circumstances after the initial release we have some bug or problem that requires time to fix the distribution period
will be delayed, but once started it will follow the 3 week plan above.

thanks for reply and sorry if i talked to bad in the forum but i had sooo much bad experience with scam devs and i see now your not one of them.
i tried to install the wallet, but i have a new computer now and had many problems to synch my wallets.
i make you as the gaia dev an offer (can i really trust you?)

you get 400k gaiacoin from me (i hold like 2.2-2.4 millions) if you manage to recover my coins (i have like 5 wallet.dats dont know which is right or wrong) and then send it to an adress i give you.

the risk is im not 100 percent sure if i made a passwort and then did not safed the wallet.dat, so worst case would be my coins are lost.

please answer me, if not i have to ask someone other i think its a really fair offer and your the dev.

but please dont play games with me and that all my coins are away okay???

Like I said in the message I will help you recover your coins and do not expect anything in return.

This windows QT wallet will be easier for some to work with and does not use the web GUI :

whatever you do, do not hand your dat files to anyone, just use them in the qt one by one and send the coins to an exchange address.
keep a copy of all your dat files until you are 100% certain the coins are safe.
