We are pleased to announce that today our 1 ounce gold (1 BTC) Limited edition coin has gone into production.  You can read more information about the coin on our website - http://www.coinographic.com/1-btc-gold.

This is the official auction for Coin #1.

We are due to have the coins in stock early January.

This auction will run from now until 22:00 (forum time) on the 20th December.  Please be sure to read our Auction Procedure below before you place a bid.

To place a bid please use the following format;

I Bid 5 BTC

The above would mean you have bid 5 Bitcoins on the coin (Limited Edition #1) of our solid gold bitcoin - http://www.coinographic.com/1-btc-gold

Auction Procedure

1) You are only permitted to bid once per post

2) The minimum bid is 5 BTC.

3) The Auction will close at the 22:00 (forum time) on the 20th December provided there are no new successful bids during the 5 minutes immediately preceding 22:00 on the 20th December.

4) Any successful bids within 5 minutes of the auction close time (21:55 – 22:00) will extend the auction by a further 5 minutes; the auction will continue to extend in 5 minute increments until there are no more bids within the 5 minute refresh period.

For example;

A bid placed  at 21:58 will extend the auction for the coin until 22:03.  If a further bid is placed before 22:03 it will extend by a further 5 minutes.  This will continue until there are no more bids within the 5 minute refresh period.  At that point the auction will end and the winner will be allocated.

5) If you are the Winning Bidder of this auction, you will be obliged to complete the transaction and purchase that item within 72 hours of the auction close.

Processing and Technical Errors

In the event of errors in processing and/or site downtime or any other errors or delays caused to the site and/ or Service as a result of unforeseen technological difficulties associated with servers, data hosting or any other reason, we hereby reserve the right to:

a)   decide (prior to or after the original time set for conclusion of the online auction) to extend an online auction for a period of time (determined at our discretion); and/or,
b)   void that entire online auction transaction and open the auction again at the original start prices

Thank you

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

The best coin design yet but I am tapped out at least until after the holidays.  Really really beautiful coin.  I love the design and wish I had perhaps saved some coins for this one.  If its done in silver, I may consider it as that would be cheaper.

I don't have a spare 5 BTC at the moment, but I'm hoping that maybe by the time this auction is ending I may have some money to put a bid in.

The amount of detail in the design of these coins is just amazing. Wish I had the spare BTC to bid on this.

Dear coinographic, give me my money back.  NOW

Hey. If you have a problem, deal with them directly. Public shaming isn't cool, they've tried to rebuild their rep after their incident.

What incident?

To all Coinographic clients and customers:

We're sorry to say that at Coinographic we have been having a bit of a technological nightmare for the last couple of weeks. Our CEO has been having some family problems and personal health issues, keeping him out of the office for a long while.

Once returning, he's been further hit with bad luck as his computer went through a major fault and unfortunately not everything had been backed up.  We have been contacting various experts who are now trying to fix the issues, but because we need to wait for specialist parts, the fix won't be accomplished before Monday or possibly Tuesday of next week.

Our CEO would like to apologise for any inconvenience this has caused:

"I appreciate that many of you will be asking how this could have happened.  I can only say that the pressure of work, coupled with my ill health at such a crucial time, have led to the error of my not ensuring that everything was backed up in the event of a technological failure.  I've certainly learnt my lesson.  All the information that I need to fund coins or process orders is locked inside the damaged PC.  I can recover it, but have no option but to wait for the experts to fix the problem."

"I can't apologise enough to everyone.  As soon as I can get back online my small staff team and I will be working flat out to resolve all outstanding issues.  Clearly this is something that should not have happened and I will be taking steps to ensure that it won't happen again.  I appreciate how frustrated and upset you may be, but please bear with me while I get everything up and running again and all outstanding funding and orders processed."

Thank you.

If you have proof of your claim perhaps you may want to open a scammer accusation thread and present your facts, assuming you aren't getting any responses from them.

Well I haven't quite given up hope that he is going to respond and make this right.  So, I would hope it doesn't resort to this.  But I am really upset, because I was promised the refund by the close of business Dec 4th and now it is almost Dec 6th.  This is not cool.

Do you accept escrow for the auction?

Curious how escrow would work if the coin is special ordered for gold and it will take at least sometime in Jan before its ready.  Will they order the coin without receiving funds to pay for the special order?  Coinographic wont see their money for at least a month, using escrow.

I agree.  With the problems earlier, it would be wise to protect yourself if they allow it.

Well IMHO they should voluntarily suspend their auctions/sales until they resolve whatever these issues are.  They have openly told everyone that customer data & funds are trapped on a computer that they cannot access and they are waiting for parts.

CEO has family problems?  Ummm...not to be a bad guy but what does that have to do with running a business?
They are selling thousands of dollars worth of product and lose everyone's data on the CEO's desktop...yikes.

If I were to bid on this coin I would require escrow.

They are selling thousands of dollars worth of product and lose everyone's data on the CEO's desktop...yikes.

ig

Here is a quote from their website on Nov 28th:
"We're relieved to announce that we have resolved previous issues (please read here) and our CEO's computer is now back up-and-running; starting today, we will be resuming business as usual."

That scares me if this is really business as usual.  To keep a customer hanging like this and just go awol is not professional.

It simply doesn't have any relation had they been proactive. Before I started selling coins I made sure everything required to operate a physical crypto coin business was fully tested, operational, and well backed up in case of any hardware failures.

Horrible circumstances can exist but it is how you are able to recover from them that matters.

As said above those order delays due to no backup or contingencies in place are likely not directly related to family or personal problems at all as these are things that should have been considered before any business launch of sales occurred.

There are many inherent risks that exist when dealing with physical crypto coins when you rely upon another party to generate, assemble, and ship all components to you.  I try my best to make every customer aware of these risks the best I can and in my terms and conditions on my website.

Bottom line: if you do not trust the coin maker do not buy. The same goes for people considering purchasing my coins as well.

Well he is holding my money hostage and refuses to answer my PMs.  This is bullshit.  He is fucking me over.

Your refund will be processed today.  Did you really think it was necessary to post messages like this on our auction thread after being 1 day later then quoted? We are a little behind, almost caught up on everything now

Been asking for a refund since Nov 21 and he keeps stalling.  I'm tired of it.

It wasn't until December 1st that we agreed to refund you on one of your pre-order, we didn't even get your payment address until we came into the office on the 2nd December (as you sent it at 10 pm in the evening of the 1st).  Its true we did advise we would process this on the 4th but like i said we are still a couple of days behind, we will be caught up by the end of the day

If you have proof of your claim perhaps you may want to open a scammer accusation thread and present your facts, assuming you aren't getting any responses from them.

Smoothie having something to say about our business again?? Surprise, surprise!

Without fail you are always there to jump in and try and stir any problems you can for us...  People are not stupid and your motives are clear!

We are not going anywhere and i'm afraid you will have to put up with our competition for a long time to come.  Why don't you concentrate on your own business and stay out of ours?

Do you accept escrow for the auction?

We would happily let the funding amount be held by escrow until shipping.  It would not be possible for the rest as the gold coins are made to order and the manufacture will need to be paid in advance

If I were to bid on this coin I would require escrow.

but you never will bid...

1. I only posted in your thread given there was a user who obviously had some concerns about their order/funds and I merely gave them unbiased advice on what to do if their claim was true.

2. Yes I would never bid on your coins. You do remember the last time I did and the outcome? Of course you do not want to open up that can of worms do you?

3. My take on your backup solutions for your business and your excuse is purely my own professional opinion being posted on a public forum. If you can't handle it perhaps you may want to communicate on a private forum or better yet have an actual backup solution in place from the get go.

4. I'm not out to get anyone. If anything if you did your research you would find that my reputation on this forum has been to call out all shady/untrue actions on this forum from businesses from all sorts. That includes MTGOX, BFL, PirateAt40, HashFast, Cryptovest/Coinhoarder, AMT, ...just to name a few.

5. One of my comments above was attempting to educate people on how private keys should be made and kept/stored/verified. Perhaps you could learn a thing or two from me or other coin manufacturers instead of getting offended.

Just to keep everyone up to date on the situation.  I still have not received my refund.  Requested on 11/21, and was told on 12/1 that I would receive it on the 4th.  Well that came and went then I was told at 1am forum time on the 7th that I would get my money the next day.  It is currently the 9th.  This is sad.

Not lying in anyway.  The production consists of making molds, producing prototypes, boxes, booklets, holograms.  Production of all these things and more is in progress.  Once everything is produced and approved the manufacture will make to order the gold coins using the molds that we have developed.

Due to the value of the gold and the cost of each coin to manufacture we are not going to hold these in stock, unlike our silver coins

I read it as he's only accepting escrow for the 1btc funding amount. The rest has to be paid to him so he can use it to order the coin. Clarify if im mistaken please, as i might be interested in bidding.

I bought a few coins from this seller in the past (before the computer issues) and everything went smoothly.  I know people are suspicious, but I don't think he's out to scam anyone.  I would bid on the coin in this auction, but I'm a little low on funds at the moment.

Just so everyone knows i have recieved my 2 LA and 2 Chickun coins already, all won on an auction on LTC Talk. They are very nice coins. Coinographic is legit, i have bought 12 coins from him, things are always behind schedule by a few weeks but he always delivers. These coins are of a very high quality.

Coinographic,

I received a PM with a BTC address to send payment to, but normally when I win your auctions you send me a link to a special check-out page on your website.  I would like you to confirm that you do want me to send the BTC to the address in your PM, and please re-post the BTC address in your reply so if need be, the membership here can verify when I send the money to you.

The reason for my concern is that I've already received a few fake invoices from members pretending to be you wanting me to send them 6 BTC.

A few days back on this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654857

Coinographic states this:

As of today we will closed for the Christmas break.  Any funding requests or emails to us will be dealt with on our return to the office on the 28th December.

We wish you all a merry Christmas!

Thank you

And as I already stated, I've received multiple fake "invoices" from people pretending to be Coinographic giving me a BTC address to send money to.  Thus, until Coinographic replies on this thread and gives me instructions on how to proceed, I'm not sending the 6 BTC.  If it takes until the 28th of December, I'm fine with that.  I believe my caution in this regard is well warranted.

No, because I trust coinographic.  I've purchased 11 coins from them throughout the last year, and have received each one, and they have all been funded promptly.  I admit though that hearing about their cash flow problems does scare me, because I did pay them 6 BTC for this coin, which is a lot of BTC to float.

I asked Coinographic earlier if they're still producing the silver 2B "B" and 1B "Ant" coins.  I have both on pre-order.  I haven't received a response.

We have yet to see any of the bitcoin denominations being made yet, other than a prototype of the gold 5B coin, a while ago.

It would be nice to get a response from the OP and see some pictures or confirmation of these coins in production to put people's mind's at ease.

I was about to do a pre-order for the Silver bitcoin last week until I read that Coinographic was having Cash Flow problems and several members here have not receive their coins as promised.  That got me scared.  I am gonna sit and wait out to see if Coinographic honor their shipment to others members first. We are pleased to announce that today our 1 ounce gold (1 BTC) Limited edition coin has gone into production.  You can read more information about the coin on our website - http://www.coinographic.com/1-btc-gold.

This is the official auction for Coin #1.

Coin #2 - #500 are available to pre-order from our website - http://www.coinographic.com/1-btc-gold.

We are due to have the coins in stock early January

Based on the OP, the coin has already gone into production, and they are/were due to have the coins in stock early January.  It's now mid/late January.  Coinographic hasn't responded to this thread since Dec 26th.  I won the coin, and fully paid BTC upfront, and have asked for an update, but to no avail.  Coinographic, please update me on the status of the coin, your reputation and your business are on the line.

Coinographic: You should hire/find someone to keep you're website up to date. You're losing (or at least missing out on) many customers right now. Also I have sent a couple of emails, with no response. I was actually pannicking a little bit, because there's alot of btc on the line for me. Than I actually found out on these forums that there was a sickness in play, so I understand a delay, but you could at least have updated the site for it.

Please get back to me asap, really awaiting the coins.

I fully agree with this. Lack of communication is the worst thing a business can do, especially when it involves handling other people's private keys.

I think at some point you guys may need to face the situation that something else is going on here.  There was an issue that raised some eyebrows and now you have a vendor who is unresponsive and has not logged on to the forum in 7 days.

I only have a signature because I'm allowed.

The lack of communication is not a good sign.

10-11 days since OP logged in or communicated here.

Website still says "This is a pre-order item. Shipping is expected December 2014."

Seems like either they stopped updating their site or something else happened. It would make sense that in December 2014 they would know they wouldn't have the coins at a certain point and would update that.

This is why I never preorder anything nor sell anything that is preorder (not in my possession).

To place a bid please use the following format;

For example;

Yes that can be if you are the owner of the thread. All that is needed is for the OP to move the thread to another board, edit then move it back.
