what was the highest volume ever?

Depends on the timeframe.  Either way bitcoincharts.com can tell you.

holy shit. 350,000 when bitcoin was about $4

today only 50,000

that was well over $1,000,000 late 2011

today is 50,000 * 14.30 = $715,000 thats a nice chunk of change as well

when did LocalBitcoins.com start?

If my memory is worth anything (unlikely) they started 6-8 months ago.

seems your memory is still functional!

There have been many different implementations of this, starting in 2011
but this one appears to have majority of the market share and has been up for ~8months

another way to look at the current price is that there has been literally only one month in Bitcoin's 4 yr history where the price has been higher.

no ponzi here.
