Someones wire transfer must of gone through.  Some big buys happening.

There were two buying waves today? Whatever looks convincing. Volatility over the last days was/is completely insane.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Back to bitcoin...

About 4.000 is waiting for verification at Gox  Grin

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1a2dzz/just_submitted_mtgox_verification_position_3840/

Oh wow!   Average deposit is $500?   4000 x 500 = 2 million.   That takes us to $52.

More like $25000. They don't need verification for $500...

Dude, that is $100 million coming into the market Wink

oh wow, you are right, min is $1000? wow... $75 btc this week?

hi goat

LTC is to BTC as Silver is to Gold.

Repeating this doesn't make it any more true.

Watch.

McDonald's is good for your heart!  Burger King is the preferred meal for athletes!  Dairy Queen Blizzards is a low-calorie alternative to a banana.

repetition doesn't make it any more true, but according to a book I'm currently reading repetition is a reliable way to make people believe it.

Quote from: Thinking, Fast and Slow (Daniel Kahneman)
A reliable way to make people believe in falsehoods is frequent repetition, because familiarity is not easily distinguished from truth. Authoritarian institutions and marketers have always known this fact. But it was psychologists who discovered that you do not have to repeat the entire statement of a fact or idea to make it appear true. People who were repeatedly exposed to the phrase “the body temperature of a chicken” were more likely to accept as true the statement that “the body temperature of a chicken is 144°” (or any other arbitrary number). The familiarity of one phrase in the statement sufficed to make the whole statement feel familiar, and therefore true. If you cannot remember the source of a statement, and have no way to relate it to other things you know, you have no option but to go with the sense of cognitive ease.

so be careful what you write. And also: bitcoin is the best money!

wait, what the... what?!?

there are this many verification request pending? They are processing 280 of these in 4 hours? Are these new accounts?

EDIT: actually: do you need to verify your account to deposit >$1000 or only to withdraw >$1000?

Also from the book is something along these lines: You can't restrain yourself from reading words in a language you speak when you look at them. Smiley

I smell a correction coming right under $50 or if we go slightly over $50

I think that will depend on he time frame.  If we get there tonight, probably.  If we spend another day or two slogging it out on the $48 border, then probably not.

Reality is that whenever BTC is just lingering around a price for days/weeks, the next move has always been....... UP.

Also from the comments:
Quote from: ebsarex
It's been a week now, I'm #830 and started at 2340
So assuming that's true, Gox processed 1520 verifications this week, and they still had enough new submissions to go from 2340 in line to 4020.

That is 3190 new submissions this last week only.
