if chief developer Jean-Luc Picard didn't released the b version (for hardfork), he would have taken the decision by himself. his role was to release this version for letting the community to decide.

It didn't mean that he was for the hardfork solution.

Yes, but it had been made known that bter contacted the nxt development team after the theft with a proposal of the block chain rollback, and many members initially were supportive of this idea.

It didn't mean that he was for the hardfork solution.

How do you know? It was his offer after all.

Now I hope a lot of person have "learned the lesson" : don't keep your money on an exchange (make it at your own risk). However news about the withdrawal? Has someone of you tried again?

Agreed, I'm just trying to find some clues as to why... Here is what I found from the past that could throw some light on the present (why nxtcoins are going first). A threat to the hacker, sounds serious:

Quote
Let me present myself. I am a professional investor. I own several million NXT, one of them being on this account. I also own thousands of bitcoins, plus large sums in dollars, stocks, and physical gold. I am announcing here that if for some reason you guys (BTER, the small fish trying to buy the NXT from you, and yourself) screw the deal, then I will have to step up personnally. This can hurt NXT a lot, a make me lose over $1M of NXT investments, but I can assure you that if this happens, I will personnally make sure you end up in jail. And will spend whatever money you end up costing me to track you down for this specific purpose. So, to all: Stop panicking. Let's do thing clear and cut. Do your part of the deal, negociate with BTER. End of story. Thanks for reading. And think.

So we have an investor who is threatening the robber. Don't know how real his threats are, but if they are, it could be that he made bter a proposal now that they wouldn't dare to turn down. Another message by another happy nxt holder:

Quote
Your plan is not to hold NXT or BTER to Ransom. Your total plan is to force the rollback as you do not lose as you got BTC now. And you know by doing the Rollback NXT will drop so to you it makes no difference. Your not just a simple hacker are you? You target NXT only when you could get any of the other coins at the same time in bter there is most probably more BTC than NXT? I think this is nie master plan to take NXT out of the picture for good in big swoop. I would like the Hacker and BTER to add me on Skype: Something really does not match up in all this. But i see a very easy solution to screw the hacker into the ground and making him 46 million NXT useless. I have suggestion for BTER if they so wish to hear it on solving this matter SKYPE le-grande1

We don't know what's happening behind the curtains right now at bter with absolute confidence, but the choice of nxt seems deliberate.

IMHO, they simply choose to prior withdrawals of  US$, CNY and NXT because they were the most important in volume. I think other alts should follow.

They have 4.5 billion doges in their cold wallet, which makes around 2,700 bitcoins. Their nxt cold wallet holds about 35 million coins, which makes around 1,574 bitcoins. So your assumption is pretty much wrong.

There is this message on each page's coin at Bter :

"Notice: We are bringing BTER up. Get latest updates at https://twitter.com/btercom ."

Does everybody must withdraw their coins or can leave them at Bter as it looks like it's going to be on as it was before.

Previously they made it known that they were going to shut down the exchange completely. But now I have a feeling that they are actually going to continue operations. Personally, I will withdraw my coins as soon as an opportunity arises (then will wait and see). In respect to trading, bter was one of the best exchanges out there.

If they open for business again they will probably have to cancel the buy side of the order books for all the alts. The buys must have been backed by people's bitcoins before the hack and can't be backed by bitcoins now unless bter managed to get funding from somewhere.

A lot of person will do the same, because they have "lost" their credibility and consequently the different clients have lost confidence. Well done, I fortunately don't have anything on bter.

I'm absolutely sure that they will cancel all orders once the exchange starts executing trades, but not for the lack of bitcoins. The significant share of bitcoins you are talking about should be in the hot wallets.

There are some coins that are on no other exchanges besides bter. People who want to trade those coins have no other choice than to use bter. They are not particularly popular coins but the revenue from those alone would give bter a reason to carry on trading.
