Thanks for the report, I've added the tweet in the initial post. I hope all the customers will be able to request their money.
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

It hasn't happened yet. The right time for bter to scam on us, after having paid out their USD and CNY denominated liabilities to escape legal prosecution in China.

Remember, they didn't start nxt withdrawals as promised.

Well, I read somewhere that someone had CNY, but they were not withdrawing to international accounts. So maybe, you might find some information on that in the Chinese subforum.
I am sure, there would be a thread specially about it there as well.

Give them another "couple" of days, maybe they will reopen the next/altcoin withdrawal, but your "thought" it is valid and maybe you are right.

I guess if there were a "hole" someone got through for the btc then they might be waiting as soon as other wallets opened...

That's a big maybe. I think it's something other than that. Time will tell

So, after this mess, where would you be moving your altcoins ?   (redsn0w, how about a poll ?  Grin)

Cryptsy, Btc38, poloniex, bittrex are biggest alt coins exchanges. If bter will close i guess btc38 will accept most chinese users from bter and volume on cny/alts pairs.

There are also bunch of little exchanges which surrived more than year with not null volume: kraken, allcoin, c-cex, bleutrade, allcrypt, comkort, swisscex and so on. A lot of place to trade alts...

Coins-e lists datacoin. I don't know of any other exchanges besides them and Bter that list it.

It is highly improbable. They know their client balances, right? Thus they could easily set withdrawal limits on per client basis.

The poll is a bit premature. We should at first get "our altcoins".
