John Henry Clippinger = Developer? Huh
He made a contract for 'Green Coin' in Korea.
'Mutual Benefits of Solar Smart City & Green Coin

interesting http://www.upworthy.com/the-cool-reason-why-these-green-coins-are-becoming-a-currency-in-amsterdam

GreenCoin herein is like the idea linked above, but with the obviousness of being instantly global (and digital).

http://blog.naver.com/ansandreamtv/221041024584
The concept is similar.
In Korea, he is known as the developer of the coin he painted.

Massive interest on the main exchange! up to 10 sat!!!!

interest or just pump by community ?

just to make things clear as I've received many DMs asking I've zero involvement with greencoin and hold zero coins. All I did was throw in my two cents as I do with many other coins and that was it no follow ups after that. cheers!

this isn't true. We followed up diligently. I offered to pay for your services and you related you only wanted greencoins which I cannot provide directly for. I was interested in the services, however, and taking the coin to the next level technically (like Verge, as you mentioned).

I want other community members to know this because maybe they would like to assist in some way.

did we follow up? seriously can you post where we got into some sort of deal? And did I ask you for greencoins for what reason?
When I said no follow ups I meant helping out any way because that's what many have asked me. All I was saying I've nothing to do with this greencoin someone asked me if I was the one doing the buying/selling fake volume at Coinexchange.io so as it got to that point I wanted to clarify that I'm not the one who's doing the fake trades that keep going back to the same wallets. Also I would advise not to use Yobit they are known scammers. cheers!

Below is the exact PM conversation we had regarding this: (your messages are in italics, mine are in plain text)

hi Chris, I've helped dogedcoindev turning DogecoinDark into Verge. At the time there was some 50 BTC sell wall at 1 satoshis. I didn't do any development but I helped with with all the ideas and even got verge introduced in China. If you check the original Chinese verge thread it was posted by me, names like Blackhole and everything I made up  XVG as symbol etc, what I liked in Dogecoindark at the time was the idea it was really an awesome idea but it was destined to fail for many reasons so we worked on everything and he's an awesome dev which helped a lot. I can try to find get some people on board on this but eventually all costs involved would had to come from you. believe this coin has potential you already have people using your project and there are hundreds of shit coins in the multi million mark while greencoin is just floating

I own zero Greencoins just downloaded the mac wallet so I'm totally clean on it I really want to help you for this project I see big potential I would even agree to be credit or blamed as official consultant in your team . l  Last year I had to sell most of my BTC so I can't even now buy Greencoin but if you agree to have sent to me 100 million coins I was thinking 200 million but not sure you're willing lol. I will stick with you to this project for the long run. I can also bring Zedux and Bitleap onboard if we move forward together you can check their history with dogedcoindark ie. Verge. basically we three came up with everything you see in Verge today and dev did the development and the site. I can offer you my brain and many contacts in China and elsewhere for building the brand translation and what greencoin needs to become a player in cryptos.

Let me know what you think.

I love these ideas, I'm on board. Let me run a couple of thoughts by you:

1) I run GreenCoin above-board: the GreenCoin Foundation is actually a not-for-profit registered in the State of Delaware. I'm wondering if it's ok if I know who you are, and/or if others knew who you were or if anonymity is important to you? It's ok to have anonymous devs but it would be helpful to be transparent across the board, at the very least internally. Also, are you located in the US, Europe?

2) I have had some professional legal advice and they tell me the importance of not paying for services in GreenCoin or selling any, so while I am working on this project formally at the Foundation there's really nothing in it for me but the environmental imperative and long term growth. I think this is important to relate so people know I'm a 7-10 year guy (and we are in year 3 already!). However, for paying vendors, we have a Foundation bank account and coinbase so paying invoices for work USD/bitcoin is fine of course (and you are welcome to go buy GRE in the exchanges of course). I would disclose in the forum about any progress on a roadmap we are making though.

3) It looks like you are looking for 100-200M GRE, which @ 1 sat currently is ~1-2 BTC or $3-6k in value. This is a totally reasonable ask for being the lead development PM. If we moved forward and you herded some devs you've used in the past, would you know their costs? I am looking to see what a total budget looks like.

4) This email exchange comes at a good time. An early adopter and possible payment accepting vendor has inquired about getting greencoin added to his wordpress site for payment. This is a big deal because he wants to help out at the Foundation level if this integration step gets done, he says he can donate to the non-profit.

5) The original devs (on the PoS fork) are Ahmed (IRC ahmed_ or ahmed__) and BTCforum: "presstab"... just wondering if you know them(?). Ahmed was the dev on the original fork (preserving the transactions from GreV1 in the first blocks of V2) and presstab fixed a staking bug (on fork wallet updates). They would probably be helpful in any transition/addition to a dev team. They are in the greencoin slack channel too -- if you send me an email I will invite you.

thanks for the reply. You're enthusiasm is uplifting!

Well first of all I just want to make clear I'm not asking money from the Foundation for anything, what I'm offering is my guidance, experience, knowledge, consulting, contacts and help and what more   I'm a big student of cryptocurrencies for almost 7 years know. From Jed from the Stellar Foundation to Hal Finney from the cypherpunks I've talked to them and exchanged knowledge and much more although I never met them in person or was directly linked to them.

Second the 100-200 million coins I asked to you personally as I assume you are also one of the bagholders and this isn't a big deal for you this would be sent to me just for the hours people I would had to "trouble" and my commitment to this project. I just wouldn't like to see this coin someday worth thousands of satoshis and after all that I would just received a big thank although the words would be welcomed watching other profiting from it and I coming out empty handed wouldn't be a nice feeling don't take me wrong.   and nothing guarantees after all the work you put into it that the coin will hit an home run as I mentioned before so it's still a gamble but I guess worth a try.

Third I've someone in mind for this project but if we can't get him there are others we can look to but it would be ideal to get on board btw he's very opened and I guess you would have even this home phone number he's  American. I travel the whole world for work and right now I'm in China. Other things we could discuss once we started working together and by work I mean focusing on achieving the same goal.

Fourth What I offer to you is 100 million greencoins now and 100 million coins once the dev accepts and starts working on the project. If it works out as we expect it would be very difficult for you to send me 100 million greencoins if the price was just 100 satoshis so do this way we neglect temptation and if things don't work out anyway my coins wouldn't be worth much and it's a risk worth taking.

Fifth The first thing I would do once we agree is to contact the dev and convince him to get onboard. This can take time or not I will be very transparent with you on the progress. I would also ask you to keep a "virtual" NDA of what is being done as speculation at this moment would be the last thing we would want too many coins already in the hands of a few.

My five points don't exactly match the five you posted   but I think you can get the idea. Once you agree I can send you the address for the deposit of the first 100 million coins.

Thanks for the opportunity.

I appreciate your interest and enthusiasm. Per my last message I can't deal in coins (greencoins) themselves, that's just a requirement. It would be fine to pay out in a usual and customary fashion from the foundation for work performed and you can buy coins on your own.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work I'm not trying to make money out of this I'm looking for a project worth helping to make it successful and be part of. I had some other invitations but I thought it was nice trying to help Greencoin. I've been in this far too long to know what works and what doesn't and for the entire thing to work and things I still had in mind the roadmap we had to go as I shared in the other posts. Also what I suggested was with you personally not coins from the Foundation anyway if you can't deal as I suggest and your own coins we get into a dead end but that's ok.

All it shows it had no follow up even though you offered me money and I simply refused any. I also said I wouldn't say exactly what was needed I just sent ideas all those are just 'ideas'. Anyway if this is how you show your appreciation towards those who were friendly towards this thread I can't imagine how you react to those who would come and point out the hundreds of flows in this coin but wht the one or two bagholders holding half the coins you pretty much got everything under control Cheesy

I dunno man, perhaps something I'm not understanding but it sure seems like you are mad things couldn't go the way you wanted them to.  All I hear is Chris being super nice, professional and stating the facts.  I don't see how you can make comments like "if this is how you show your appreciation", insinuating that he wronged you or insulted you in some way.  I don't get that.

Project has had problems sure, but damn man this is one cool ass dude on a mission that isn't tied to this typical greed and money hungry scam infested crypto world.  If you'd open your eyes you would at least see that and show the man SOME respect for sticking around this project as long as he has.

Heck he essentially offered you the coins you wanted, just couldn't do it in the currency you were asking for moral reasons or whatever it is.  What's the difference in that I don't get either, he VERY nicely put across that you could easily purchase your own Green if you wanted.

I suppose I'm not seeing the full picture here, but your post seemed way off to me.

Chris, I'd be happy to donate some from moms and myself again:-)

I don't have a clue how much value this service provides or what would be a decent donation for them though.

Can you make a suggestion on what you think would be a good amount to say our thanks to these chaps?

Feel free to pm if you prefer.

Simple explanation: Yobit has not updated the wallet for months so GRE can't be taken on or off.  The price on Coinmarketcap is based in part on this price.

Complex explanation: This appears to be part of Yobit's business model from what I have seen.  Many coins are in the same boat - last I checked.  Purchasing coins there often results in people dumping them at a low rate after they find out that they can't move them off the exchange.  (I've personally done this but have long ago stopped trading on this exchange) Pumping a coin is really easy if you know there is a limited amount of them on the exchange and no new coins are coming in.  If you are one of the few with GRE on Yobit it might be fairly lucrative if you play your cards right.  The ethics of this is highly questionable imho, lol. Thanks Lightsplasher for your answer.

My greencoin are actually on coinexchange and not on yobit because I can't open a wallet on Yobit. If I sell on coinexchange I would lost because the sell price is too low. So I keep them on coinexchange and I hope they will update on yobit or for for dreaming a bit on bittrex ( or poliniex) Smiley

By the way if you have any advice to sell them at the right price i would appreciate thks

Yep, Yobit sucks!  I've asked them many times to update their greencoin wallet and get their node running again.  I don't think it's ever going to happen....they ignore updates to their clients --> Avoid Yobit if at all possible.  ESPECIALLY STAY AWAY FROM THEIR DICE---> Dicey at best!

@Chris.

I mostly agree with your statements about the coin update.

My node is pretty much up & running 24/7.

Furthermore I strongly disapprove of PoW. This fights against the entire idea of being green.

Are you using the bootstrap file? Can you provide the output from your wallets console when you run getpeerinfo?

Thanks!

Coin tech thread:
- We need a functioning seed node up and running 24/7. Maybe we could put a bootstrap file at this address as well?

Solved with a SINGLE dedicated node. Use/provide the IP of the block explorer.

Coinexchange.io has indicated our debug log is ~1 TB and they and they need a fix from us. This is probably an easy, procedural fix.

Direct CoinExchange.io to the "ShrinkDebugFile" option in their .conf file. Setting that variable to 1 will limit the size of their debug log to 200kb (if it's found to be greater than 1 MB). See the code below which is found in the src/util.cpp
https://github.com/greencoin-dev/GreenCoinV2/blob/master/src/util.cpp
Code:
void ShrinkDebugFile()
{
    // Scroll debug.log if it's getting too big
    boost::filesystem::path pathLog = GetDataDir() / "debug.log";
    FILE* file = fopen(pathLog.string().c_str(), "r");
    if (file && boost::filesystem::file_size(pathLog) > 10 * 1000000)
    {
        // Restart the file with some of the end
        char pch[200000];
        fseek(file, -sizeof(pch), SEEK_END);
        int nBytes = fread(pch, 1, sizeof(pch), file);
        fclose(file);

        file = fopen(pathLog.string().c_str(), "w");
        if (file)
        {
            fwrite(pch, 1, nBytes, file);
            fclose(file);
        }
    }
}

The sync stalls out as it pushes through blocks where we had micro-forking issues (blocks 95,000 - 225,000). I'm not sure what the fix is but we need to try something here.

Fixing the nodes should fix the Syncing issues - I confirmed today that a faulty IP was causing the wallet to seize on a single IP address. See PR 4 on the Github.
https://github.com/greencoin-dev/GreenCoinV2/pull/4/files

The third IP in the list (104.237.2.189) was causing the wallet to hang.

Below shows the debug file as it loops on that single IP (caused by a refused connection).
Code:
connect() to 104.237.2.189:11517 failed after select(): Connection refused
keypool added key 102, size=101
keypool reserve 2
keypool return 2

Panda - I think the node is greencoin.crypto-expert.com:

https://github.com/greencoin-dev/GreenCoinV2/blob/master/src/chainparams.cpp

Which ahmed may still be able to get up and running. I'm trying to ping him. We can also see if he can pull your request or add you as admin(?)

Confirmed that the current wallet skips that address when checking seeds - and you can't ping it so if it is available it is on a different coin/host/port.

I'll look to be added as a collaborator. If someone could provide some additional problems we can look at those.
