The long time king of the Cryptocurrency seems to be struggling now to keep up with the pressure of some of other cryptocurrencies.

Ethereum seems to be the most challenging opponent for Bitcoin right now and Bitcoin seems to fall apart against it. In a few past days its been clear that with the up of Ethereum, Bitcoin falls and that clearly indicates that finance is being transferred from Bitcoin to Ethereum.

Earlier that was not the case, earlier whenever Bitcoin goes up, it used to pull all the cryptos with it but now things are changing, Ethereum clearly is now out of the league of Bitcoin and is in its own now and is pulling the finance from BTC.

For me. This is the ideal time to invest in Ethereum.

I would recommend that you invest more amount  of resources in Ethereum rather than the bitcoin network some may say this is due to the fact that Ethereum has less fluctuations in its price value comparative to bitcoin but this is more reliable on the fact that Ethereum is a more stable although less valued currency than its alternative so safe investment.

The ethereum is popular and has such a large capitalization, only thanks to the large number of ICOs. Sooner or later, ICO will go to the past and then the ethereum will become less in demand and will fall dramatically in price. For this I believe that he is not a competitor to bitcoin.

 As for me, investing in bitcoin is a more stable option.
 At the moment, the price for the ethereum has dropped $ 700, while the bitcoin stably holds $ 9500.
Everyone predicts a great future for the etherium ... but I personally fear to invest in such an unstable currency.

The most popular coin is Bitcoin, because the first Bitcoin of digital currency and bitcoin is always consistent in the market. while Etherum can not be equated with Bitcoin because of Etherum can not compete with Bitcoin.

I would choose both. So if you want to invest, invest on both of them. You can do it 50:50 or whatever percentage you want. Both of these coins will continue to appreciate and continue to gain more value.

we have a lot of topics laying around about the same subject but in my opinion i don't think we should compare ethereum with bitcoin because every coin is unique on it's own way bitcoin was the first crypto to exist was invented by satoshi and his buddies and ethereum was invented not as a payment currency but for a whole other thing and it has pos system  will be deployed soon which i don't like but what can you do and most icos rely on it for their campaign.  every coin has its own speculation i dont think we should compare them both

Ethereum is much popular due to ICO's which the coin is ethereum based but why we should compare this two currency if this two is profitable maybe bitcoin is dow for now but it will back. Ethereum is stronly wide to grow more

For me Ethereum is better specially if you are joined in a bounty campaign because Ethereum are most commonly used in the ICO for exchange ICO's token. But if you are go for the trading and mining, better use bitcoin because of its high and increasing value. My opinion only.

I fully agree, we should not impose rivalries between Bitcoin and Ethereum but yes we must somehow unite the concepts and spread to a great growth of the market. Another factor that we should take into consideration when investing and which to choose is the time, Ethereum tends to grow over the next few months and years, and Bitcoin just follows its path to success, i recommend following 50% each for a virtually guaranteed return. Remembering that is just my opinion.

How can you compare bitcoin and Ethereum. These are tokens of different weight categories. I bet that Ethereum will not be more expensive than bitcoin even at the best of times.

The technology is entirely different. But after all, both of them are altcoins and are used for digital transactions. And don't be sure that Ethereum will never be more expensive than Bitcoin. It has the capability to overtake BTC.

I agree with you (mostly) since Ethereum seems to be growing up with strong and steady steps. Now, as "being out of the league of Bitcoin", I can't see the way you are. First of all because of BTC is still the number one despite other -and better alts-. It is still the biggest one and the one around conversations are having a place.
I don't see Ethereum (at least not in a short time) bitting BTC in any way, just because, for most of the society Crypto equals Bitcoin and the other alts seems to somehow invisible for now.
So, that's precisely why investing on Ethereum, to me, is the wisest step: for now, is still under the BTC's shadow but soon enough people will realize how big it is and it will have a really big pump.

It is always a good idea to invest in ethereum, but right now it is not really challenging bitcoin, maybe you think that is what is happening but I just see the price of bitcoin being manipulated by whales nothing more if ethereum wants to beat bitcoin and get its spot at the top of the market cap then it needs to do a lot better than just existing.

I think both coins is good to invest with. But bitcoin has the upper hand advantage against ethereum. First of all bitcoin is the face of cryptocurrency market. Everytime there is new investor it has a high chance that they will prefer bitcoin over ethereum. On the other hand, while bitcoin becomes very unstable, ethereum starts to grow more. Eth is growing faster, thats why you can consider Ethereum as a coin that can challenge bitcoin.

If i had to chose i would invest something like 60% into BTC because it's like the most known crypto, but it still can fall down while ETH is gaining more good reputation and who knows, maybe it get close to BTC state.

as far as I can judge from today's state of affairs, it is essential for me to be a coin for preserving my means, and bitcoin gives a great opportunity for earning.

I think Ether is better than Bitcoin  it is the strongest coin now in market and all ico coming with ether platform so ether demand will increase day by day and it have good future. So I feel Ether will touch 2000$in next 6 months. Other side Bitcoin is just side ways at this time after making ATH of 21000$ level it fallen to 6500$ and now it is 9500$ level mean over 50% fall in Bitcoin.

I myself consider that both are good for both trading and investing option, but if you are to choose anyone from this then i will go with bitcoin as still it is the king of the cryptocurrency. But currently bitcoin is trading near the bottoming pattern and i think it will soon start to rise it again. Even Ethereum is good and major coin but i think this time bitcoin will outweigh Ethereum for sure and that too sooner.

Many time we have seen the same discussion thread has been created in the forum but still nothing cannot replace the bitcoin at all. There are many people turns to mining ethereum with the GPU they have.
Except this there is no more easy earning from ethreum at all. We all know ethereum is cheaper than bitcoin and its transaction fees also cheap than bitcoin too. Since we see the ethreum is around the 650 USD and something, we need buy as much we can to get the more profit.

But this doesn't mean that you should invest in ethereum, as it's a stable cryptocurrency so the price would not fall pretty rapidly so it also means that price also won't rise rapidly also which is in fact quiet opposite of bitcoin in which price rise very rapidly and due to this investors love investing in bitcoin as they are looking for quick money and bitcoin does provide them their motive. Ethereum may will pass bitcoin but we need a lot of time for this. This market is very new and has a lot of way. I think Bitcoin will keep as first coin in long period. But I believe Ethereum will pass bitcoin in a day because It has more technology.

I do not share your opinion. Bitcoin is the main philosophy of all the crypto currency. And it is not correct to try to compare bitcoin and ethereum. Each of them goes its own way.

Bitcoin is the highest point in all coins existing and I can say to this ethereum is the next to bitcoin. If you were planning to invest, why not both? Both are profitable in the long term goals.

BTC remain is number one on any Atlcoin, because ETherum will not exeed BTC, if investing ETH should be a reasonable amount, since bitcoin will crawl significantly.

Ideal of course this is a good time to buy an ether if only there are investors can raise the value, then you have a doubled advantage and the most important of these points is that the two crypto are racing to the gates of success.

I think both the currencies are at their all time lows so there is a great potential if you invest in any of them. But taking into consideration which of them is more solid I would still say that BTC has much stronger backing solely due to the fact that many more people own it than Ethereum. IMO, it is a good time to invest in both BTC and ETH. BTC price is currently low and it is a good entry point now. I will invest 70% in BTC and 30% in ETH.

No doubt bitcoin is struggling but who isn’t? We are passing through hard times but it doesn’t make bitcoin a shitcoin. We shouldn’t forget how dominant bitcoin can be once market turns back to normal. Ethereum is also very promising and i am expecting it to be 10k in a test or so but it can’t be as high as bitcoin.

You are right I think the price of ethereum can not reach bitcoin price. Ethereum will go up and it will happen in the middle of the year, that's my prediction. so we will wait until that moment comes.

Etehreum may not reach the price of the bitcoin, or it will take it a long time to do so, but it is not all about the price, bitcoin is all about just buying and holding we have never heard of any new investments or implmentations of bitcoin for a long time, however etehreum has been the star of the show in the cryptocurrency market for quite some time, since the ICOs which are etehreum based started gaining popularity and getting the attention of many investors the ethereum market cap has risen significantly, and with more ICOS crasing millions of dollars and more promising ones coming in the near future we may actaully see etehreum surpassing bitcoin in terms of investments.

Ethereumis popular of ico but BTC is popular of cryptocurrency. People using bitcoin everywhere but Ethereum does not use everywhere.

I'm not bias about the two currency but still bitcoin is still the most currency we could use in crypto space. But if you going to look at the roadmap of the two. The winning coin should be Ethereum it's a complete package that can create more token under smart contracts.

I prefer Ethereum than Bitcoin because it gives way more better network than Bitcoin. But if you are choosing a good coin for long term investments then both of them are good because the volume of those two are high and they are the 2 most popular coin out there.

For the past 4 or 5 months the rate of Ethereum / Bitcoin seems to have stayed pretty constant at around 12 - 13 ETH to 1 Bitcoin. Ethereum has more uses right now and hundreds of coins are launching using the Ethereum network and ERC-20 protocol. I still don;t see the balance of power shifting anytime soon though.

It is no doubt that ethereum caught the attention of many investors.  It is faster than bitcoin in terms of transction and with much lower transaction fee.  Even ether can stand on its own right now without being affected by bitcoin price, how bitcoin establishes its name and how it survive throughout years is still irreplaceable.   Ethereum is also good but it will takes a long period of time before it might reach the bitcoin spot in the crypto currency world.

Bitcoin and Ethereum is stronger coins from now, this two coins give more profit for investors. But bitcoin is the first and Ethereum the second.
Ethereum now very popular, and have some group control this two coins. I invest this two coins togethers, because I know this two coins give more profit to me in the future.

Ethereum is where it is because of the numerous ICOs depending on its technology. if the ICOs can find another alternative then chances are that the value of ETH will drop, i don't believe BTC is struggling because of the pressure from alts either, all cryptos are facing a hard time in the market.

IMO bitcoin still the best coin to invest, but for now i like to collect ethereum to hold for long period of time hoping it would be like bitcoin value rally. Since i feel late in investing in bitcoin that is why i choose to invest more in other coin which is ethereum but i have multiple coin to hold eyeing for better profit in the future.

I don’t think that ethereum has less fluctuations than bitcoin. As far as I have observed, bitcoin and ethereum both rise and fall almost with similar nearby percentage. I would agree on investing in ethereum more, as technology of ethereum is quite better than bitcoin and also the team working behind ethereum is not anonymous and is hard working. I don’t think that launching of ICO’s will stop until quite long. People will launch projects, ICO’s and Dapps, but all of it will be regulated in near future and it will be made compulsory for the devs to register the project or ICO under the government before launching it. This one of the best alternatives when you want to invest in good coins. Ethereum has held a platform that widely used and it will last for a long time. People are beginning to learn crypto and they are interested more in alt coins. That is the main benefit for ethereum as a erc20 platform.

I also my some ethereums already because I can see good potential in them. But I don't think ethereum is already at the same level with bitcoin when it comes to price reaction. Ethereum has always wanted to replace bitcoin, after all there is only one coin above it and and that is bitcoin so the only benchmark it had the only competitor it had for a very long time was bitcoin, however recently there have been many other smart contract platforms that entered the market and are trying to take its place but none of those coins is even close to replace ethereum.

BTC is way popular still than ETH. The community outside this forum are only aware of BTC which is why most of the investors are going for BTC and its low supply not to mention the lost BTCs. Actually not. Ethereum falls down faster then bitcoin. There is room to correct twice from current levels.

I see no considerable advantages of  Ethereum opposite Bitcoin in transaction speed and comission. It is a little chipper and faster  but you would not use both of them to buy pizza. As a way of long term investment Bitcoin is mach prefereble. As a transaction currency better to use monero or bitcoin cash.

I think that this is not the right question. I think that now it is very strange to ask about such things, because it is very difficult for us today to draw any conclusions, because personally I got used to these two projects. Everything is in our hands and our capabilities.

All cryptos are currently struggling not just Bitcoin. BTC is still the best crypto there is with the highest market cap and value. Ethereum has a promising project and if ICOs keep using its technology, its value will raise higher , but i dont see it ever surpassing BTC any time soon.

I thought that Ethereum will stay being valued at .01 BTC and yet it fell down again.
We are going to see more of this as more altcoin are being created.
Ethereum being used more but the problem is the bought ethereum doesn't stay long. ICO projects needs the funds for their service and upgrades so withdrawal is necessary.

It's odd Ethereum has wanted to replace bitcoin from the beginning and now there many coins trying to replace it and while I have my doubts the day Ethereum is going to be replaced it is ever going to come the chances are greater for that to happen than Ethereum replacing bitcoin, these next years are going to be very fun since we will see if Ethereum can still retain its place as the second coin in the market.

I agree with the author of the topic in the first message. ETH is a really strong opponent for bitcoin, and there's an explanation for that. Bitcoin-no matter how it sounds the most useless coin, but because it first appeared on the market, it has such a value. What we don't say about ETH. That's what is on my mind too. It will not literally mutate but it will be sort of upgraded into a better version of bitcoin. But if people are good with the current bitcoin then there's no need for it to upgrade since Lightning Network shall be implemented very soon, otherwise people have to choose between bitcoin and a better coin where they are comfortable with.

OP is wildly making random correlations and causation... which turn out to not be true at all. The entire market in general falls. It's like if you buy stocks only in the energy sector or tech sector, the market in general of a particular category tends to move the same. You'll have bigger winners and losers in those sectors, but the sector tends to move as one.

Ethereum have lost the momentum it once had in terms of price competition wity bitcoin. Had ethereum maintain it's momentum, we could argue about ethereum becoming the next bitcoin. But as it is right, market has more confidence in bitcoin than ethereum!

Ethereum is far behind than bitcoin. Ethereum price is just few hundred dollars while bitcoin is near $7000. I don’t think that Ethereum will ever reach to this price, and if reaches to bitcoin’s currency price bitcoin will be more than $20000 or $30000. For me the first choice is always bitcoin and ethereum is after that. A bit smart decision can make me rich in the future.

I rely a lot and have more Ethereum for now. a lot of progress that possessed the Ethereum produces many more advantages which makes me more confident with the Ethereum has and continues to support and count on it.
