In December, just what year I will not say because I'm not sure that it will be in the near future. What is needed bitkoin again to become so valuable, most likely to develop and improve all its shortcomings, only then it will be possible and remember the former glory. I think it could happen, if bitcoin breaking $ 20,000 again, because now the bitcoin price is slowly rising and this will continue to happen until the end of December 2018.

At the end of 2018, the BTC will try again to cross $20000, because the history of BTC will break the previous high point after each slump, which should be traceable.

I hope it will happen again even my prediction will not that high in this year, but I have big faith about it. In my opinion bitcoin only can reach $ 17k in this years ( technical method ), if got higher I'll buy new laptop, fix my car and married. Now I'm full crypto trader and now still wait to get profit. Very unlikely, i think bitcoin would be back at almost $15,000 by december no more than that, idk i just feel like it. But BTC and ETH are constantly decreasing and we're still on the second quarter of the year so who knows? Maybe it'll exceed the $20,000 USD mark by December.

I am a one hundred percent sure that bitcoin will reach again to $20,000 soon or even it will be more grows above $20,000 because of the rapid demand and rapid increase of people who wants to use and access bitcoin as their main assets for a long term of holding.

This will happen again. I am certain only up to this. But I do not know when specifically Bitcoin will once again reach $20,000. If I am to estimate it, this will happen from June to August. If that will not happen then Bitcoin will not only reach $20,000 within 2018 but will go beyond $30,000 with very strong pumps in the last 4 to 5 months of the year. Bitcoin comes stronger if it grows very slow or even dumping for quite a long time beforehand.

Unfortunately a lots of people does not trust in bitcoin now. But I believe that it start rise in summer and in half year it will hit $20000.

It will be difficult for us to see those levels again in 2018. At worst, we might see btc at $15k USD ATH before the end of the year. The market is filled with so many cryptocurrencies that I can't see btc moving up as fast as it used to before.

I'll take a guess that it will reach $20,000 again by the early weeks of 3rd or 4th quarter. If basically this won't come, I'll put my hope to the rest of the next years. I am optimistic with the market but putting too much expectation can also frustrate you so it's better not to assume that much.

I think that if other cryptocurrencies are dangerous to bitcoin status, then this kind of thing will happen, because bitcoin will not allow any cryptocurrency to surpass it, it will always be the king of the industry.

It may be an unpopular view but I do not think that Bitcoin will reach $20,000 again this year, it is struggling too much right now to even break above $9,300 for more than a day or so. I think it will be mid 2019 before we see the 20,000 level approached once again.

I think December again :). It's just prediction and if you want to ensure that BTC will rise back to 20k$ or not, you need to wait. For now, the whole market is rising back slowly after a big dump and I think it'll take months for BTC to rise back to 20k$. But at first Bitcoin need to break the barrier 10k$ first.

I have never seen a volatile market like the one we are experiencing in cryptos before,  its over 4 months since bitcoin hits its all time high of $20k. First quarter is gone and the whales keep manipulating the market. I hope its crosses $20k before end of the year but am not sure if it will.

That's pretty dramatic. If Bitcoin can increase like 2000% last year, then it will certainly not have any problems setting a new all time high this year. All we need is a spark that will cause the hype train to start rolling again, and it can happen at any time. If we look back at previous major increases, they all happened when we didn't expect them to happen, and that's a very powerful manipulation strategy to allow FOMO to kick in as effectively as possible. For that reason I strongly believe that quite some of the bull runs we have experienced in the last years are somewhat planned by large players pooling their efforts together -- they initiate the fire, and the rest of the market adds fuel to it to keep it going.

I agree 20k usd on december is just a product of speculations however what is happening now is a correction since there are lot of dumps that happened on the 1st quarter of 2018 , today lot of FUD is happening so I am not very sure attaining 20k usd anytime now so I guess we need to wait a little more ?

You can this because of what bitcoin showed early for this year. I have the big hope that it will surpass the last year's growth although past happenings from year 2013-2014 can also happen again.
$15,000 wouldn't not be so bad if the price fluctuates to this at the end of the year. I'm really hurt at all as I kept on holding for the past years but breaking $20,000 is something great again and bitcoin will prove that it's not a bubble just like what others are thinking.

If I'm being perfectly honest I really believe that is not going to happen until the next year, I know that for some that is too long and they think we're going to see the price of bitcoin growing a lot faster than that but I have my doubts because unless we see a great development in the technology of bitcoin or we see more good news from countries adopting cryptocurrencies I cannot see the price reaching that level that soon.

I agree with your view as their are lot of shortterm traders who are buying in low and selling in low profit, even if they get 2k to 3k usd difference they are ready to sell it. Although, there is a possibility of $20k acting as a resistance, and the fact that after breaking the $12k support, there could be a huge chance of coming back to test it as a support.

But you are giving an affirmative statement like you know it is going to happen exactly like that and forgetting that a lot of things can actually change before or after then. Always remember that in a market, anything is possible, so predicting the future should be totally out of it.

It is doubtful indeed because we don't know what will gonna happen this year. A lot of changes may course through this coming months maybe it will reach to $20k or not. So we are not sure this could happen as the value is unpredictable.

I like the question here and think it's on a lot of people's minds, but I've been wrong so many times in the past that I've learned not to take my predictions about bitcoin seriously--at ALL.  When we were stuck below $500 back in 2015, if you'd told me it was going to hit $20K I would have laughed and said that would only be possible if the USD crashed and the economy was in dire straits.  And yet it did hit that milestone and the economy was booming at the time bitcoin did it. 

When is bitcoin going to hit that mark again?  I'd say it's not going to be this year, but I don't say that with any conviction.  At present the market seems to be a bit depressed, and I'm wondering what's on traders' minds.  There hasn't been any good news that people could make decisions based on, so I don't know what's going to kickstart the market--if anything.  I do hope we start some upward momentum soon, as it's been a kind of boring market as of late.  We'll see.

December 2017 - Price was $20k, after one years $20k. Same Price after one years? Maybe not. Bitcoin do not count its old history. It has own rising way. People involving day by day rapidly, its demand going increase. Bitcoin price will upto $25-$30k in the month of December, 2018.

Knowing when that is going to happen is not easy, after all how many people predicted that bitcoin will reach a price very close to 20000 by December of 2017? Not many I guess, and I suppose that the same is going to happen the next time bitcoin reaches that price but if I were to give a year I think we're going to reach that price at the end of 2019, with a big difference, that the price will go up a lot more and then when we see a correction 20000 is going to become the base price of bitcoin.

I don't expect that after these corrections happening right now could help bitcoin's price pump very promising compared with what we experienced last year of December 2017. This year it was a worst price movement, because people still failed to see a good price after all. The price always dump after all sort of some price spikes, and nobody cares to hold their coins but rather dump it immediately.

Dropping to $5k does not mean we can get to see a rapid growth in value for bitcoin and it is not like it is going to either. The thing is that nothing is predictable and we can only look out for patterns, blend with the trend and see how we can make the best use of that trend in making our decision. There are more chances for bitcoin reaching minimum $20000 this year again. The value is going to grow again by end of June. Hope last year's trend continues here after the first 5 months slow and stable progress. The upcoming world cup season should uplift the price by end of this July. If then the value would touch $25K by end of September 2018. Hope to see this hike again and wish more investors pitch in again wish more hope to have a huge hike in December 2018.

The current trend looks bit slow but I think the price will start rising from now and there will be a big peak price coming in next month. But BTC will live in that old state, as it was 5 years ago. As for ICO - most of them (99%) are totally worthless. So no, they aren't helping to adopt BTC.

Don't expect too much in Bitcoin or you will end up crazy while overthinking either about of the price or your investment. Crypto currency market is too unpredictable even if you have a complete list of the chart from the last year events. All we can do is to speculate which is the nearest possible data that could help to predict to our investments in the future.

I have been thinking that this particular price correction is going to be less than a year; however, the longer that we are in the correction, the more I accept the possibility that the correction is going to be longer than what was expected.

I recall towards the end of the 2014/2016 correction there were a lot of posters disclosing how they were going to cash out everything or near everything when BTC prices returned to $1k.  I kept suggesting that cashing out that close to the previous ATH of $1,163 would be premature and likely regretful since BTC prices would likely shoot significantly above the previous ATH, once reaching that level (which happened). 

So, I agree that the same thing is likely to be true here.  We do not know how long it is going to take to reach previous ATH of $20k, but once prices start to get close to that amount, it would likely to be imprudent to cash out significant amounts of BTC in that price range... sure you can cash out some, just to take profits, but be careful about cashing out too much and not to be significantly prepared for the seemingly likely possibility of a significant amount of additional UP.

It is too early to say is it going to break $20000, it is possible but I would like to see slow growth, not fast as it happened last year, I don't think I need to explain why, we all know what happened after bitcoin reached $20K.

I think the month of the bitcoin if reach 20,000 dollars again is the august. But we need to increase the price of the bitcoin first before they reach that because right now we experienced more dumping price in the last coming few years.

After 2-3 years so it could be on the December of 2021. Everything is on a bad shape and there is no new money coming in. The newcomers that have invested last December only see bitcoin like this "Buy bitcoin so others can cash out". Everyone have opinion about when bull run will come, most of the people would like that bull run to start as soon as possible. But don`t be confused with your own wishes and reality, market dropped a lot, bitcoin dropped less than some other altcoins, in numbers from $ 750 billion dollars to $ 239 billion dollars, that is a current market worth. Many people talk about trillion dollars market, I believe that mark will be broken one day, and in next bull run we will see that, we can discuss when will it happen, I think in next few years, this is a period of gathering power for that run, nothing happen fast, so relax and try to accumulate more coins now.

If what you say is true, gabmen, that some people fucked up because they bought too much bitcoin during the price rise to $20k, and so now their BTC holdings may likely be in the red.. and perhaps considerably in the red, then perhaps those same people overinvested (and retrospectively we realize that their overinvestment came at the wrong time). 

Accordingly, it seems to me that the fundamentals of bitcoin have not gotten worse in the last year, even though the price has come down, and actually, with the passage of time, there seems to be considerable evidence that the BTC fundamentals are stronger than they were a year ago, with the ongoing development of lightning network and various other ongoing improvements (and also any lack of material problems).  Even though I tend to agree with your assertion that it is not necessarily prudent to come at bitcoin with large sums of money (possibly rising to the level of careless, like you suggest), yet on the other hand, people have made a lot of money by placing value into bitcoin on price dips rather than during times of price rise, and our ongoing stagnation in the $5700 to $8500 territory might demonstrate that this is a decent time to invest large sums, for those folks who use a large sum approach to investing.

Last year bull run from $2500 to $20,000 is caused by new investors who switched from wall street to Cryptos and other new individual investors who are curious who investing in Cryptos will work. Nope, there is one thing which is maintaining the situations as it as which is our bad habit to sell for small profit in this low market. Here the price increase a little there we sell for what, just for small profit which is irrelevant if you have high profit getting opportunity then it is useless to sell in low market which does not let the price maintain its increase tend. So we have to take care of everything and treat it as a long term investment.

That is not really a "continues to fall" situation.

Otherwise I agree with you that it is difficult to predict when UP will resume, especially referring to $20k... best case scenario would probably take a couple of months - if there were really decent news... but there is likely to be resistance at several points on the way up.. at least minimally in the $10k arena and likely in the $16k arena, too.

You caught me, micpeep, and it seems that I had not finished my whole thought, which would be that "best case scenario" would be to surpass $20k in a couple of months, and more average scenario would be to surpass $20k in 8-24 months, and a more bearish scenario would require 36 months to 5 years to reach ATH again.

Of course the worser case scenarios would be that BTC is never going to reach $20k ATH again, and that would be a pretty high extreme that does not have decently probable scenarios - even though various never to ATH again scenarios are spouted out by FUD spreaders, no coiners, unknowledgeable about BTC folks and BTC naysayers.

Just to let you know (just in case you don't realize it), we are currently in a BTC price correction or alternatively a "consolidation," which is not the same as "bear market."  

In other words, your assertion of "bear market" remains premature.  

I am not saying that "bear market" might not happen down the road, but we are not quite there yet, even though some folks like to prematurely and presumptively describe where we are at, currently, based on future assumptions of downward BTC price movement (or a very long period of sideways), neither of which has happened yet.

Well, I remember last year where people are so hopeful to see bitcoin touch $10k inspite of the huge bans but what happened is it doubled the expected the price in December. I am expecting the same outcome this year where people are optimistic with the $50k all time high and the bitcoin will surpass that again.

The right question is NOT about whether $20k is possible, but instead regarding how likely it is.  When you say that you think that it is not possible, you seem to be overstating the issue, and more accurately you should be saying that you believe that $20k is "not likely."  Of course it is possible, just a matter of how likely 1%?  5%?  20%?  Many would conclude that it is less than 50%, including me.  Perhaps if I am being optimistic, I would place getting BTC to $20k by the end of this year in about the 33.3% arena, but I recognize that might be a bit much, but it is far from 0%, which would be a "not possible" assessment.
