⚡️Technology we use
 
Natural gas as a fuel for base load power generation is regarded as the cleanest of all carbon-based fuels. It is estimated that natural gas flaring associated with oil production expends far more natural gas than power generation.

The power generation technology proposed in this project is based on the use of aero- derivative gas turbines. Gigajoule Floating Solutions is an electricity generation company. It creates fully operational, gas-based power plants, floating on barges.

We have spent four years developing three project sites which are capable of immediate implementation, using the floating power plant technology on a bespoke basis. Each project is designed for a 528MW installation.The technology is best-of-breed utilizing the Siemens GT A65 (Rolls Royce Trent) 66MW gas turbine which is an aero-derivative engine with class-leading efficiency.

The turbine is coupled to a generator and modularized. Two modular power generation units are placed on a single barge. Four barges go into each project. The barges with all ancillary plant for the modular units, are built at a UK shipyard to the highest standards imposed by either of Lloyds, DNV or ABS.

The site works in-country, is undertaken by a large international corporate civil engineering contractor and includes the dry docks into which the barges will be placed, the gas connections to the feedstock supplier and the transmission line connection to the Federal evacuation yard.

⚡️IEO-why did we decide to hold IEO?

IEO (initial exchange offering) is a token – based fundraising method similar in principle to ICO (initial coin offering).

However, there are a number of key differences between the two methods, such as:

At IEO, digital exchange manages the entire process from a technical point of view. Digital tokens are created in the launch panel of the IEO exchange, and the purchase of tokens is carried out through the exchange platform.

In IEO, the Fund-raising event is managed by the exchange, and in ICO-by the project team. The traditional ICO model involved the project team issuing tokens from the ICO Launchpad, selling the tokens, and then transferring (or attempting to transfer) the tokens to a listing on a digital exchange so that they were suitable for exchange. The new IEO model means that tokens are issued from the exchange's Launchpad, the token sale is managed by the exchange, and once completed, the token is guaranteed to be listed.

The issue of the tojen GIGJ through IEO instead of ICO has several advantages for investors – guaranteed listing, exchange of expertise, security procedures KYC and AML,  systematic way of carrying out pre-sale of the tokens and easy way to buy tokens.

Prior to the GIGJ token sale, a private token pre-sale will be held within the IEO. The expected start date of IEO is scheduled for November 1, 2019. The total duration of Gigajoule IEO project will be 20 days. GIGJ tokens can be purchased for Bitcoin (BTC) or Ether (ETH).

WHAT IS GIGAJOULE?

Gigajoule is a project that applies state of the art technology in the form of floating power electricity plants. Gigajoule was born as an answer to the problem of electricity access, which affects millions of people worldwide, but its more acute in African countries. The current model of electrical generation in these countries makes use of a variety of power plants, many of which are economically and environmentally unsustainable however notwithstanding unsuitability, their aggregation is nowhere near able to meet the burgeoning demand for electricity. Gigajoule, is a fast track construction and deployment power generation system able to expand existing power generation capacities in developing and developed countries.

WHERE ARE THE FLOATING POWER PLANTS GOING TO BE ESTABLISHED?

The Gigajoule team has spent years making preparations of the implementation of the first three floating power plants in Nigeria. The selection of Nigeria as the first priority for the Gigajoule FPP solution was driven by an abundance of natural gas, an existing national transmission system and the support of the World Bank to underwrite the payment obligations of the Government to purchase the electricity produced under the Power Purchase Agreement. The first 3 projects will be executed in 3 different locations: Cross River State, Anambra State and Delta State. In each case, once we have satisfied all in-country permitting plus licensing requirements, the government issues the Power Purchase Agreement which will enjoy credit enhancement support. That is correct. Once the project starts declaring dividends, 15% of profits will go towards GIGJ token holders. ETH will be sent to a dividend smart contract that will in turn send a pro rata amount to each ETH wallet that is holding GIGJ. ⚡️What is an ieo? And why do we need it

An initial exchange offering (IEO) is a digital token based fundraising method, similar to an initial coin offering (ICO). The key difference between an IEO and an ICO, is that in an IEO a digital exchange manages the whole process from a technical point of view. What must be understood is that this is the bulk purchase price paid by the government under the power purchase agreement. We do not know to what extent they may subsidise or increase the price to their retail customers.
 
Nevertheless, the point is that this tariff has been developed by the buyer and guarantor as what they regard as acceptable so as to achieve three objectives:
 

• US$ 0.0065/kWh - Fixed operating costs which is extremely low.
• US$0.0535/kWh - Variable costs which include the cost of fuel supplied by the sovereign. The fuel cost alone is US$0.05/kWh and this cost is dictated by the client. It represents 53% of the total tariff. Fortunately for us as the producer this is a pass through cost. if the gas price increases then so does the tariff, equally if it decreases, then the tariff decreases as well.
• US$0.035/kWh Investment amortisation costs and profit. Again very low!

This tariff compares very favourably to most prices worldwide. Refer to any recent global comparative table of prices per kWh in US$ and it will be seen that this is less than half the price paid on average in mature economies like Europe. There can be no doubt that this price passed through to consumers in developing countries for base load power is extremely competitive.

Please check out our whitepaper on pages 70-77, you will see that full operation will commence from Jan 2023 and dividends will continue from then on. Unlike a lot of crypto projects this is a long term investment, a great option in any portfolio. It is worth noting that token holders will receive profits on the entire holding company's earnings and not just on the first project. All token holders will be eligible for a dividend payment at the instant we make that dividend. This will be a coordinated exercise where trading will be suspended on all exchanges for a limited time before, during and after the returns are paid.

⚡️Why is access to electricity so important and can it be replaced?

The use of diesel and petrol generators are commonplace in countries with limited access to electricity. This form of power generation is extremely expensive as fuel is purchased at retail prices and the price is constantly increasing. As a result, governments have had to subsidise the fuel price dramatically in order to “keep the lights on”.

Natural gas is the cleanest of the fossil fuels. SGT-A65 has a continuous service life of 50,000 hours (6 years), after which the turbine is removed and replaced in less than 72 hours under a long-term maintenance contract, which is included in the cost of the project. In this way, Siemens can guarantee that the generator sets are able to operate for 95% of the hours in 20 years (or 40 years in the case of a lease extension).

Siemens GT A65

We have spent four years developing three project sites which are capable of immediate
implementation, using the floating power plant technology on a bespoke basis.
Each project is designed for a 528MW installation. The technology is best-of-breed utilizing the Siemens GT A65, a 66MW gas turbine which is an aero-derivative engine commonly known as the Rolls Royce Trent with class-leading efficiency.

Over 30 years of research and development have gone into this package! As far as the reliability of the technology is concerned, the SGT-A65 has a continuous operating life of 50,000 hours (6 years) after which (in under 72 hours) the core of the turbine is removed and replaced. As a result of this reliability and the quick change-over time, Siemens, is able to provide a guarantee that the generating sets will be available to operate for the equivalent of 95% of all the hours in a twenty-year period. It can also be extended up to forty years.

Siemens is Corporate Operator, which in turn, also provides operational performance guarantees of fuel efficiency and the availability to generate power for 95% of the ‘24/365’ hours for at least 20 years.

Why Nigeria?

The choice of Nigeria as the first location for the installation of floating power plants was due to a number of reasons:

Why is natural gas better?

Combustion of natural gas in high-efficiency turbines with aviation fuel derivatives by Gigajoule technology is the cleanest way to burn all fossil fuels with the formation of small amounts of sulfur, mercury and particulate bits.
