Something is odd about this developer, and the way he is constantly trying to get people to "mine" at his broken "pool", and the way he is not active in thread but just pops in every now and then. I would suggest that anyone that has visited his "pool", or definitely anyone that has installed the wallet on their computer to do a full malware scan. something is just not adding up.

I take back the bad stuff I said about you, and wanted to give you advice if you ever decide to release a new coin in the future.

I am a troll account. I was created to troll coins that I thought were detrimental to the community. I am an altcoin miner with a lot of fire-power(a whole fucking lot). I mine most coins at the release, and do very well compared to the btc I would make if I mined at a multi-pool.



The one most important thing to do as a developer is BE ACTIVE during your coins launch. We(the community) do not care if you have a family, or a job, or a sick turtle. We expect you to be active during the first 24-72 hours of launch, no matter what. If you are not active during this key time, your coin will fail. There is no getting around it, either hire somebody to launch your coin, tell your family you are unavailable for the next few days, or find someway to respond to the thread with your coin constantly.

Publishing is a very big to fail, no one is willing to mining this coin.

Leesminer:  I'm not 100% sure but I think you create a file called "Canadacoin.conf" with the following in it and put it in the same folder as your wallet.dat:


Change rpcuser and rpcpassword to something unique to your system.  Also, you can add "-gen=1" in the command to run the wallet.  That will get it generating coins.

We saw that ASIC's were on the way for Q3-Q4 this year, and that is why we made the coin POS only after 90 days.

Yes, there are some POW/POS coins with N-scrypt and more elaborate varieties, but we wanted to go with something that was proven for the POW stage.

Well, I stand corrected.When we started dev. there were none in operation. We looked at X11 later in the game...but there seemed to be some security issues being worked out and it was just too risky. In any case, after 90 days..no more mining period- just staking.

So now that we seem to have the coin up and running, I would suggest it would be a good time to start contacting exchanges like Bittrex and poloniex.  They are two exchanges that could add CDA but I know that selling them on another country coin may be difficult.  
Dev some ideas to get some buzz going

- contact some Crypto blogers (ge some articles out there on CDA)
- get as active as possible on twitter and social media
- get listed on Bittrex or Poloniex

Being a fellow Canadian, I was insulted by the first two attempts at a Canada like coin but I like this one and I would like to see it do well

It seems there is a problem with the OSX wallet, menu links are missing making it impossible to  get into the settings (can't turn on encryption!)

My windows wallet is staking beautiful!!!!!  Great job so far dev  like I told the thread at IPOminers this coin seems to be the only one in the last 10 days that launched smoothly, and now with the OSX wallet working correct, I find this coin right now to be a safe place to point my hash, I have made my point of view on this coin on many threads Good Job.  Again we should be focused now on getting this bad boy added to and exchange like Bittrex or Polinex.  do that and POW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  no pun intended

Can someone explain to me how staking works? My wallet is unlocked but I haven't seen any stake come through yet.

well you will need to have some CDA in your wallet first, after that you just leave the wallet open and in your case unlocked.  Usually it will take about 24 hours for the coins in your wallet to mature and start staking. but leave your wallet open with coins in it and eventually you will see the deposits due to "minting/staking"  hope that helps.

so far as you know I support this project, and working actively to bring more people to it.  So I wanted to mention some of the things and the main concern some people in the crypto community have been raising.  While in a few IRC chats the other night the main concern was the high pre-mine that you are holding.  Now we all know this crypto world comes with lots of risk, but with the high level of scams and air-drop claims with no real doable distro plan it makes people a bit scared to jump on another country/airdrop coin.  
Now you have me sold, so far you have turned out to be honest and I believe are working to do everything you claim.  Some people suggested a revamp of the OP page less lines with lines through them, as well as to start an open registration for Canadian citizens to start registering for an air-drop.  I would suggest a simple addtion to your site or a new page that would gather simple info that could be verified through public records like stats can.  

Anyway something simple that would be open for people to see the air-drop plan is possible and that work is being done to that end.  In short people are looking for more clarity that is public due to the faild past claims of high pre-mine airdrop coins.

CanadaCoin was set up to require a minimum 6 hour stake time...and the wallet doesn't need to be open the whole time, it will continue to generate coinage when offline also, so that when you open up the wallet after at least 6 hours (could be a little more depending on who else is queued up) you should generate your stake reward/interest. note the max. coin age is 30 days, so that if you leave the wallet offline for 45 days say, you will not receive 15 days of "interest"

For those that didn't notice, our current logo was modified only slightly from a gold canadian maple leaf coin and then colourized. We have not had a legal opinion on it, and personally I like the cheekiness of what we did, but we could run into issues when we try to trademark it at some point. Therefore, I've had a graphic artist provide another version, from scrtach of a logo, that would be free of any such issues and conflicts, and we need to decide whether this image would be suitable and whether to make the switch, especially before printed materials are done, or whether to face an opposition when we go to get the logo trademarked at CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office).

You may want to try closing down and restarting. Your wallet does not need to be online to earn coinage...it will continue to accumlate offline also, just not beyond 30 days. My windows wallet is staking just fine, and I have not heard any other complaints.

been away from the board for a bit, but seems like Canada coin continues to implement a good plan, and things are shaping up nicely, really happy that I am part of this coin.  I emailed and PM'ed Bitterex again, really shocked when I see Doje coin get added and not a much better coin like CDA.

Glop, when I try accessing that link I get an "untrusted site" warning that says this:

You might want to look at fixing that as it could scare off potential miners.

    I am sure Miners are good enough in computer science to understand the meaning of that message. ;D

    I can also remove the certificate but MPOS is known to have a flaw in term of security with http protocol. (All pass in clear on the network, easy to catch login, password, pin and hack wallets )

On MPOS Pool this notice is an automated notice. The meaning of this is that the crons have been shutdown temporary so the automated processes are not launched. That's why - in my opinion - your payment have not been sent. I am sure that this canadacoin pool is investigating and is going to make it right.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CANADACOIN POOL USERS:

We've come across a problem with manual withdrawals.  If your account balance is too high, the system will not process your manual payout and you won't get your coins.  This appears to be a problem with the coin daemon not the pool software.

I'm looking into the problem but, meanwhile, please set an automatic payout threshold for your account so that your balance does not get too high.  I have configured the system to give you a warning when your balance reaches 10,000 CDA but I recommend a figure lower than this to ensure your payouts go out correctly.

If anyone has a problem with payouts, whether it's automatic or manual, please let me know ASAP so that I can look into it and get you your coins.

Hey PonyBoy, please PM me with your user id and email and I'll have a look and see.  Sorry for the problems.  I can confirm that blocks are found and coins are being accounted for each user.  Glop is correct in stating that this is an automated message that gets generated when the crons stop and has been resolved.  We also updated our default 120 confirmations to 50 as stated in the OP for maturity.

PonyBoy, please see the above post rgarding the issue.  Appears to be something with the coin daemon and processing large transactions.  I have sent you you 33k+ coins that you had tried to perform a manual payout of.  PM sent with transation details.  It's in chunks of 5k.

One thing, though...  I sent an extra 0.002 btc (0.003 btc total) to support the project but the site only recognized receiving the 0.001 btc donation.  I have sent an e-mail to their support to make sure the extra 0.002 btc gets to the Project, but ppl should NOT send more than 0.001 btc for their vote unless they want to run into the same problem.

     I have also an issue with transaction as my transaction fail when I try to send coin.

     It seems to me having to many transactions into my wallet.

     What I do not understand is why POS split transaction by 2 even if it is small transaction. At the beginning I had only one transaction and now with POS I have 4300 different transaction from as low as 1CDA....

Glop:  I'm assuming you're talking about sending coins from your wallet?  Are you getting any error messages?

I, too, have wondered why PoS payouts to my wallet come in pairs but, as far as I can tell, the calcualtion seems to be about right so I'm not terribly worried about it.

   The problem for me is when you own more than 1M coin ..... POS is going to split into potentially 1M transaction into your wallet !! weird isn't it ?

Enabled Coin Control

In the wallet client, go to settings and then select options. Click on the tab that says Display. Check the box that says Display coin control features (experts only!). Press OK.
Select Wallet and Blocks

I select the wallet in the multi-wallet window, this particular wallet is called wallet-mine.

After selecting the wallet I will hit the send coins button.

There will be a box titled Coin Control Features inside of this box I will hit the inputs button. A new window will appear called Coin Control. In this window you have the option to use the tree mode or the list mode, I prefer list mode, but decide yourself which you like the best.

You will see the total amount of coins held in the wallet with the amount of blocks held in the wallet in parenthesis. If you are using tree mode, hit the arrow to expand the view and display your wallet's blocks, if you are using list mode the blocks are already displayed. Select the block with the smallest amount of confirmations. For my transaction I select the 100 [CDA] block with the smallest amount of confirmations, but you are also able to select more than one block if you transaction requires more than one block. Press OK.

You will now be taken back to the Send Coins screen and the details to include in your transaction are prepared for you.
Send the Blocks

This is the important part of the tutorial. I want my 0.0001 transaction fee to be taken out of the block I am sending so that my other two 100 [CDA] blocks do not change their coin age. If the transaction fee is taken out of the wrong block then it will leave me with only one block of 100 [CDA] that has aged five days, and my other 100 [CDA] block will turn into a 99.999 block of [CDA] that will have 0 days of aging.

Look at the information in the Coin Control box. It will tell the amount of blocks you are sending (mine is 1), the amount of [CDA] being removed from your wallet (mine is 100 [CDA]), the transaction fee (0.0001), and the amount that will be received by the other party after the fee is taken into account (mine is 99.999).

Copy the After Fee amount and paste it into the Amount field at the bottom of the client.

Double check the Change = 0.00

Put the receiving wallet address in the Pay To field, not into the custom change address field.

Press Send

My block has now been sent to my friend's address, who will see 99.9999 [CDA] deposited into their wallet. The 0.0001 transaction fee was taken out of the 100 [CDA] block and my other blocks do not have their aging process disturbed.

Splitting the stake reward block into two transactions is common for POS coins.

You need to be using coin control feature to clean up your wallet. You'll find it under Options/Display.

I don't think so. I have sent far larger amounts from the wallet without any problems. I think Glops' issue was the result of many small transaction blocks mined on his wallet. He was trying to send a larger amount than he has in any one block so he needs to select from the smaller blocks in coin control to make up the 50k that he is trying to send. Glop can you confirm that you are able to send the 50K using the coin control feature?

Dev is still looking into that issue with large amount not drawing automatically from mining pools. Hasn't come up with the reason why this would be the case...still thinks it is MPOS issue at this point.

The issue was effectively number of transaction to important, but not from mining. I sent directly in my wallet 1 unique transaction of approximately 80000 coin, but after a while staking processes has changed my unique transaction in 4300 transaction.

Effectively, the staking process take transaction, then calculates the interests, then delete the old transaction and then split the new calculated amount in two, then create two new transaction with that amount and so on....... The result is: if you do not touch your wallet and turn the staking on, you will have in your wallet thousand of transaction and you will not bee able to do any important transfer without transaction concatenation.

I just think that will be an issue for lot of people (  with no TI knowledge )

I don't think our stake reward allocation method is any different from other POS coins, but yes, i agree that the average person will have some challenges and a learning curve in using the advanced coin control. Perhaps there is a way to add a feature to automatically consolidate coins into one address.  If you know of any other coin that deals with this in a more user friendly way, please do let us know.

I have all Bitcoin wallet dependencies met and libboost-all v1.54. Seems to want 1.53 though.

im having issues with the windows wallet. downloaded it today.  it will sync a few blocks and hang up and then i have to restart the wallet to make it start syncing again.   it this rate i may be able to sync it in 12 or 14 hours with hundreds of restarts

hey chris, can you check again. your airdrop was sent on Jan 2 along with everyone else's. I can look up the transaction details if you like, but I keep the computer with airdrop wallet offline and powered down for added security.

I haven't seen a large deposit, but I've been having major problems with my wallet staying in sync.  New blocks are coming in faster than my wallet can process them so I'm always behind.  Right now, I'm at block 492539 with 44542 blocks behind.

So, don't worry about the airdrop right now.  Maybe it's just not been processed in my wallet yet?

I'll be leaving the Official Pool up and running for awhile after we go to pure PoS so that folks can withdraw their coins to a wallet or exchange.  If you have a very large balance on the Pool, please withdraw your coins in small batches (5,000 CDA or less per withdrawal) as there have been problems with large withdrawals.  And, of course, if you do have problems with a withdrawal let me know at pool_op[at]canadacoin.org and I'll help you out.

Finally, plenty of advance notice will be given when we do finally shutdown the Pool, but it's a good idea to withdraw your coins soon after we go to pure PoS.

Probably more relevant when POW mining transactions were still incoming to wallet, but generally speaking, I think still a good practice, is too always first sync wallet before staking. I had to learn this lesson when some of my POW coins got "stuck" in the blockchain and didn't show up in my wallet. Had to download blockchain from scratch to "loosen up" those coins. Thanks Chris for your help  to get it sorted out : )

Money was spent on facebook ads, press releases were made for the Airdrop and there has been active push on our facebook and twitter pages, as well as some SEO work done for organic search results.

We have an Ambassador Rewards (aka Affiliate reward program) to help users spread the word. Users get 147 coins for each referral that also signs up.

We need to find an innovative way to disperse hundreds of millions of coins to Canadians for free.  Open to your feedback, and involvement if you want to help push things along.

You should have first a good market exchange like cryptsy or mintpal..... canadacoin is not active enough on market (not visible as well)
    The wallet is really too slow (time) to initiate.

    The POS is really a problem, because you cannot let you wallet open. If you let open your wallet the POS system generates thousand of transaction into your wallet and the effect is to block your CPU to the ceiling  (actually I fight with 22000 transaction into my wallet because I have left my wallet open 24/7 to help...).  The result is: I have 130000 coin in 22000 dust coins. To consolidate I have to send to myself not more than 1000 coin at a time because if I try more the transaction fail for unexpected size.

    It needs also more communication with the bitcoin community.

Well, we are certainly not the only POS coin out there, so I'm guessing that we are facing the same issues as others with regard to the proliferation of "dust coin". Is anyone aware of how other POS coins are dealing with this?
