Fuck, the case screws won't come off... anyone else run into this?

yep had to drill mine out

I literally had to RIP the fucking case off.... was not cool, but I was able to push from below once it was open and now I rebent the case and rescrewed in (some) of the screws...
tek eet ezay tek eet ezay.....no need for ripping nor drilling. Patience and breathe. Remove all screws that cooperate. Then gently pry with blade screw driver, butter knife or similar tool under cover near unfriendly screw with slight pressure while turning screw out, and proceed to next one. Most if not all uncooperative screws should come out this way.   Grin

105  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 17, 2014, 02:58:25 AM
UPS just delivered three S2 units instead of the expected two, my mind was working overtime thinking that I had lucked out but noticed the address on the third unit was not me :-( just caught the guy as he was leaving, returned the third unit. Would have been nice.

i think bitmain owes you a shirt and the unlucky now lucky again miner who must live in your neck of the woods owes you AT LEAST a beer/coffee
106  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 17, 2014, 12:49:42 AM
So i've had my three batch 1 S2's running for over a week now, and have some observations:

Stable.
when they run, they run.  have not had the need to babysit them.

corrupt SD cards.
twice now, i've gotten corruption on the SD card on one machine or another.  If there's a power cut, i cross my fingers and hope for the best.  chances are, at least one machine will need it's SD card removed and re-imaged.  Big thanks to the guy who posted a link in this thread to a copy of his SD card.  Although Bitmaintech has now posted updates to the firmware, they are in the format needed to update via the web gui - not directly image the SD card.

this problem is particularly concerning as there is no "shutdown" option in the GUI or button on the case.  just the power switch.  So each time you shut it off, you have a 50/50 change of buggering the software.... yikes.

can't power on.
This problem is unrelated to the software issue described above.  for some reason, there's some kind built-in protection in the power supply that prevents it from being turned off and on again quickly.  i guess this is a good thing, except it give the impression that the thing is dead until you leave it be for at least 15 minutes between powering off and on again.   Have not found any work-around.  Now that i've learned this, i know to expect it, but to the uninitiated it is a temporarily heartbreaker.

I will have to look for this when I start testing the 1 bad PSU that came with my S2
107  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 17, 2014, 12:44:18 AM
OC'd @ 200 - ASIC Freq

OC'd @ 225 ASIC Freq

Replaced PSU w/ EVGA 1300.

Hardware errors are much higher! But it is doing short of 2000 WU more per minute @ 225.

more importantly, what's it hashing at the Pool??
108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 16, 2014, 07:22:49 PM
edgar, i think these chips can handle 80C (but don't  take my word for it Tongue), like a GPU and other ASICs, although that is now on the warm side....so i think you're ok for now.

I am using a 1200W Raidmax open case for now, and actually the fully enclosed unit is running the coolest....I imagine better airflow, not sure of the draw at the wall, I'll check that later and it is 6 PCIe connections.

I will test the stock PSU one more time, but I am sure its a bad one since the other 2 w/ stock PSUs are running fine showing 980GH/s each at the pool.
109  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 16, 2014, 06:04:12 PM
Awesome attitude shit-cunt!

Is that how your parents taught you to talk to people?

Either answer the question posed or keep your shit to yourself, its rare that anyone wishes to be abused by anonfags over some weak BS.

And by the way, i dont open my mouth to type (or think, or read, or breath) - i know some folks who do, obviously you're one of those!

As if you're one to talk about attitude and politeness when talking to others.  On another note, who gives a shit, quit cluttering the thread.

Haha, fair point.

But fk you too!

i wont be abused by some know-nothing-know-it-all mouth breather without fighting my corner.

the guy was asking for rhetorical advice/hopes for future upgrade boards and all he got was 'know-nothing-know-it-all mouth breather' BullShit...

Should we allow these muppets to ruin every thread they think is theirs?

Probably not, eh...

@ sbfree - What are your ambient temps?
78-80 degress, cali is getting warm....all 3 are running, 2 fully, 1 with only 9 blades and Without the provide PSU as it shuts down, max temp of all units is 58C as usual on blade 1

The PSU shut down after 8hrs or so....I removed in put in a 1200W temp PSU....checked the bad PSU would power up, but now that its cooled it powers up.
110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 16, 2014, 05:14:25 PM
Bitmain should ship the modules in a separate box with instructions for the customer to plug them in. The fit between the blade and the PCI slot is obviously not snug enough. Do they not screw down like a video card would in a case?
no they don't.....2 came in pretty good, just had to push down to seat the cards/blades...the 3rd came in like the pics above, looked like it exploded. At first I thought I had a bad mainboard but in the end it is a bad blade/module so off it goes to RMA. But now it seems I have a PSU shutting down....
111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 16, 2014, 09:38:46 AM
29 out of 30 blades is not bad...time to contact bitmain and see what they can do for me. I am just glad it wasn't the mainboard. Grin
Dam that was a quick reply...I LOVE BITMAIN.
They are going to RMA it. Kinda wish they would let me pay for the blade/hashboard and send it to me while I send this one back. Then they cuold refund me once they have the bad one. but alas I am happy that they have responded so quickly. Thanks again BITMAIN.
112  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 16, 2014, 09:34:54 AM
2 of 3 hashing.....3rd one looked like it had an accident and guts exploded. Its back together but one slot on the mainboard appears to be dead as I have already swapped out the blades to no avail.

It is surgery time, take this puppy apart and have a looksy at the mainboard.

take photos - Im curious if the mainboard/backplane actually holds much or if it is simply just a PCB with sockets placed in series
klondike, sorry i didn't take any pics...it looks alot like the ASICMINER backplane and thankfully for me only 1 blade turned out bad and not the mainboard...so hopefully I can just RMA 1 blade. Time to send off an email. The other 2 S2s are hashing away sweetly and this one is at 90% so I am happy.

Are you going to adjust the price down a bit since btc is $520 now?
are you interested in a unit?
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 16, 2014, 04:09:52 AM
Well that would be nice but I would be very surprised if they actually did.  And I can't emphasize the "very" enough!  Then I will have doubled my hash from 4THs to 8THs in one week (just got S2 today).
Nice! Good to hear bitmain are shipping on time. Knc could learn a thing or two from them  Cheesy

I think its more tricky wording from them.

Customers will be contacted after 7 days, not that the shipping will start.

They say that "After 7 days from today the exchange will be frozen" and "The products will then be shipped from stock as soon as possible"

So the only question - how long is "as soon as possible"?

If they have these in stock, as they claim, then "as soon as possible" should mean straight away, right?

If it's in stock, then all they need is a UPS label.

I think we'll find out if knc truly had 400 "in stock" if they ship before the end of this week. Or whether they were misleading customers - again - with phoney delivery dates.

Its another dragged out delay tactic, all well planned.

Shipments could be April, May, June.

In the end I think they are grateful that they have somewhere to unload the older equipment, as they upgrade the datacenters to the Neptunes.
That would be pure evil if they did that!
SHIPPING OF THE FRANKENJUP AKA 3TH JUPITER WILL BE AFTER APRIL 20, per kurt from KNC on the knc forum

 Sad Sad Sad Sad
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 16, 2014, 04:06:02 AM
Just checked the board sale and the max order went from 3 to 500 but only 362 available ....
So as HardwareReviewer asked - did kfc get back to people about the Frankenjup? sbfree? xstr8guy?

Or was their no interest and they are now selling off those grade 2 faulty brand new and definitely working Jupiter boards individually?
nothing yet, i guess it will be refund time if this takes any longer. I am going to have to call and see what gives, this is getting super silly. Huh

Its Monday, and no word from KNC on the Frankenjup AKA the NEW 3TH JUPITER....
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: April 14, 2014, 02:17:14 PM

Nowhere it says they will pay for any losses at all.

It clearly said they would assume all liability. Ie, take on the debt.

It also says they are only planning to pay 20c on the dollar of that debt.

or 100% of the losses at 50% of every fee collected = not in this lifetime???
