I don't see how what's happening can be surprising, it will take time before it's easy to start using SegWit to its fullest and it will take time for people to start actually using it. Like they say, Rome wasn't built in a day. And there's still that part of the community who are probably active users and will still refuse to use SegWit...

Why are you selling it ?
Simply because I don't want to use Poloniex anymore.
|
|
|
Selling my Gunbot Poloniex License for 0.08 BTC, OBO. You can post or PM your offers. We can deal through escrow or directly, whatever you prefer. If you choose escrow, I'm fine with one of the big 3. Buyer pays the fees, if any. As soon as the deal is completed I'll be PM'ing Gunthar to transfer the license to you ASAP.

The second amount is the one that went to your change address. Regarding your transaction, your can use one of those transaction "speed up" services that have been popping up or ask a pool to include it in its next block.

When do you guys think Lightning Network will activate on BTC or there's no guarantee it wont happen?
Nobody knows and there's no guarantee it will happen Does Lightning Network solves BTC scalability issues for BTC life or is it just of 1 of many upgrades that will come in the future.
It doesn't solve any scalability issue with Bitcoin, as it is an off chain solution. If Bitcoin becomes mainstream like visa/mastercard and that point each bitcoin is worth $million each then whats the best scalability for bitcoin that can handle the demand at that time and still be decentralised?
I don't think anyone can answer this so far. Will Segwit 2x be the same like bitcoin cash hard fork on Aug 1st, that is it will be a hard fork like bitcoin cash and will we get a free airdrop for segwit 2x like we did with bitcoin cash?
No, SegWit2x is a scalability proposal to Bitcoin. It's supposed to integrate with Bitcoin and not fork to an altcoin at a certain date. But answering your question more directly, yeah, things can fork and get ugly if some decide for 2x and others don't. Let's hope this doesn't happen.

Just like ATM's and similar have Braille support, any modern smartphone or computer has some kind of support for blind people. Apple devices are an example of blind-friendly devices with many assists (mainly through a voice reading aloud what's on the screen) and even compatible hardware to help people with issues. I think a mobile wallet on iOS is perfectly useable as is right now for blind people. The rest is as said, support will come with time and if there's a demand for it.

Maybe an anti virus program not allowing certain wallets sync past that? Very strange. Somehow no more writing permissions beyond 500 blocks? Try syncing to another folder somewhere else.

First make a copy (or several) of that file and leave that copy untouched. With that done I'd try to run it in a modern client with the salvagewallet command. If I remember correctly, at some point in time the wallet.dat file structure changed quite a bit, so it probably won't work. If not, I'd just dump the private keys via the old client and import them on a newer one. pywallet will also work, but it's probably overkill for what you're aiming for. For extra security, export the keys in a secure offline environment.

Bitcoin also went up in price, so there's that... many factors contributing to profitability, from difficulty and hashrate to exchange rate. I guess one can run calculations himself to check on what's happening
|

Yes, always keep private keys, even if empty. The person who originally sent the broken transactions deleted his wallet
Sigh... why delete a wallet instead of moving it aside and keeping the old copy just in case? You should never delete a wallet. The man said it himself

Bitcoin Cash has (apparently) solved Bitcoin's most immediate problem, as is now more profitable to mine. However Bitcoin is still Bitcoin and most economic incentive is still on Bitcoin... With that being said, we can draw our own conclusions, but I think it's still soon to say if Bitcoin Cash will have any kind of support in the future. Completely dependent on what's going to happen with Bitcoin in near future.

Bitcoin. Sounds good to me.

So he was fined for stealing electricity from work... Nothing to see here. He was just happening to use that electricity to mine for Bitcoins... Its these kinds of headlines that get mainstream media attention.

"Let that sink in" would be suitable for this, I guess?

Just import on Litecoin Core or Electrum and then send wherever. BTW, this is the Bitcoin Discussion section...

Okay, so people keep saying its "better" to download through the wallet program than to download a bootstrap.
Been syncing for under an hour, wallet claims it will take 7 weeks to fully sync from a clean install.
How is that faster than under a day that would be required to download a 50-100gb bootstrap?
Some claim re-indexing is not required with the newer clients as well so that would suggest to eliminate that.
Even with those things being the case, why is the download so slow?!
With the bootstrap you still have to validate the data. It's not just "the people" who say it's faster just syncing normally, it's the devs and the changelogs...

People trading on this and some other platforms know what they're getting into when they get there. I didn't see any solid evidence that Bitfinex is actively participating in their own markets. However, exchanges are mostly unregulated. If you want to trade on regulated places only, that's fine, and there are places for that.

Hi all! I'm still around but I haven't found time to reopen Apophenia. I still do some work on Biticker and Bittit.info and I still want to start a new version of Apophenia (sort of a rewrite) but I need to sort out some legal stuff first. (which btw is why i'm keeping the domain around but I let the certificate expire ) Thanks for the update!
