103  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-15 [ARStech] Feds reveal the search warrant used to seize Mt Gox account on: May 15, 2013, 05:03:34 PM
So someone intentionally made false declaration when opening a bank account. That's illegal anyway, no matter it's related to btc or not

There is a plausible defense for the statement in 2011.  Nobody anywhere in the government (any government) had made any type of guidance, determination, or regulation regarding Bitcoin being a currency or that a Bitcoin exchange was a MSB or money transmitter.  Now not registering as a MSB AFTER FinCEN released its guidance in March 2013.  Well that is another story.  Not sure why MtGox didn't do that or how they expected FinCEN to simply ignore their lack of registration.

It seems to me that Gox did attempt to use CoinLab as a way to get rid of their shaky legal standing on the MSB issue.

108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So DHS is meddling with exchanges and people are SELLING into USD?!? on: May 14, 2013, 10:12:41 PM
The 1K refers to $1,000 USD.  It is only 100 BTC per day.

That's only for unverified accounts.
109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So DHS is meddling with exchanges and people are SELLING into USD?!? on: May 14, 2013, 09:59:17 PM
Easier said than done.  Unless you have the maximum level of Mt.Gox verfication, you can only send 100 BTC out per day.  For larger accounts, there is no choice but to have either $ or BTC sitting in Mt.Gox.

actually nope, you only need the Verified (not Trusted level) to have 1k BTC out per day.

111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 14, 2013, 06:18:17 PM
Ask bids are slowly piling up and buying pressure is slowly expending
I think we won't be breaking 120 for a few days unless some big players decide to buy 4k of bitcoins or the mega walls there are lifted.

There is at least one person who I know is debating whether to buy that entire wall right now.
112  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 14, 2013, 03:15:39 PM
Here we stand, at $119, just like we stood at 3.2, 5, 13, 19, 31, 49, 78, 94...
113  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 14, 2013, 01:37:15 PM
Feels like December 2012 Wink

No volume, but bids rising and a ton of asks to eat!
114  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 14, 2013, 12:11:50 AM
Those bids are really piling up.. 20k at $110 now.
115  Economy / Auctions / Re: [2 DAYS ONLY] 300 direct shares of ASICMINER on: May 13, 2013, 06:36:30 PM
Shares sent to malin, makkapakka.

Sorry for any lapses in communication.
116  Economy / Auctions / Re: [2 DAYS ONLY] 300 direct shares of ASICMINER on: May 13, 2013, 04:00:02 PM
Sorry for a noob question... How do I verify that I actually own the bought shares now... Is there any public list of shareholders? Smiley

I wondered the same thing. How would we prove that we actually own these shares in a few years?

When dividends are sent out on Wednesday, they will include one transaction of one satoshi per share, showing everyone how many shares they have.
117  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 12, 2013, 11:29:34 PM
And only 44 shares in the way of 1.6, I am glad I saw this and bought in HARD! Smiley

By the way, hopefully you are buying on Bitfunder too.  500 cheap 1.49 BTC shares over there that need to be eaten up!
118  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 12, 2013, 10:26:40 PM
Whoa, it just breached 1.5, and hit 1.54 just then.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin address to final balance on: May 12, 2013, 07:08:24 PM
Can you add a BTC balance option?  It only shows USD right now.
120  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something is setting up with the market on: May 12, 2013, 05:10:33 PM

this poll carried out by a major poll institute reveals that one out of six germans "know" bitcoins. one out of five would use it in the future for payments. the article is headlined with "only one out of six germans..."   i would consider this not deserving an "only" but instead an "already". no marketing effort, no big company paid for this campaign. every payment provider wishes their system would be so wellknown without any marketing budget.

http://www.heise.de/ix/meldung/Nur-jeder-sechste-Deutsche-kennt-Bitcoins-1854908.html

How can 20% of Germans say they're willing to use bitcoin for future payments if only 17% know about them?

One in five OUT OF THE ONE IN SIX WHO HAVE HEARD OF BITCOIN would use them.

3% of the population of Germany, or 81m people.  2.4 million willing users already.  That's decent progress!
