101  Other / Off-topic / Re: How come I can be an organ donor, but I can't sell my organ once I die on: August 17, 2014, 09:42:57 PM
Organ donation is gross, and doesn't extend life by that much.  Plus it turns you into Frankenstein

What are you talking about?  For people with genetic disorders it may not extend their lives that much but for people who have structural problems with an organ like a bad heart valve that can't be repaired once they get transplanted they can live almost like normal.

If the dead tissue is on the back usually it's not being fed enough oxygen because of tissue compression. Unfortunately with the back there is minimal chance for recovery.  With limbs there is always the option of hyperbaric chamber or reperfusion surgery.

Oh that swan video cracked me up.  I wonder how many of the people voting human are a little narcissistic.  When was the last time you relieved yourself in your bathroom sink or on the faucet?  The majority of animals and all other lifeforms have to no problem leaving waste to contaminate their food/water supply - some of us humans actually care about that.
104  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I am out of the mining game :( on: August 17, 2014, 09:31:31 PM
Sadly I made more in my real estate investments than I did mining this year.  I don't mind not being able to mine for a profit - my only worry is that these large farms that are owned by the ASIC companies and promoting centralization of the network.  3 farms could easily join together for a 51% attack since home miners are being marginalized now.
105  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice for new users regarding CLOUD MINING on: August 17, 2014, 01:49:38 PM
Is Mining even profitable anymore? The difficulty is rising so fast, that in a year people with 1.6 TH/s will probably only mine like 2-5 cents/day ...

There is profit in mining, unfortunately right now all hardware has to be bought from ASIC manufacturers.  They set the price and timeline as to when they deliver your hardware.  If it costs them $100 to make a miner they can sell it to you for $500.  If you buy 1 miner, they can afford to now buy 5 miners and compete against you at 5 times the rate.  Sad, but this is what has happened - see Dogie's ASIC manufacturer Guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=456691.0 and notice all of them get an F for ethics even though they may sell very good hardware at a good price (like Bitmain).

Not sure how you calculate your profit. When I run a profit simulator on bitcoin mining, even bitmaintech S3 miners do not show any profit after you factor in the electricity cost.

Unless you have free to extremely cheap electricity cost, there is no point in mining.

Well the profit is there for the manufacturers of the ASICs themselves.  That's why all the companies are making their own farms off the money that people send to them to buy miners.  For every 1 miner you buy they can afford to buy 3 or 4 and they can make a profit that way.
106  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is US Citizenship is a Curse or a Blessing? on: August 16, 2014, 11:29:38 PM
California?  WTF

California is more like a EU state than anything else in the US.  It has social programs coming out of it's ass and has to do creative bookkeeping to claim it has a balanced budget.

If anything Greece copied CA's public employee and benefits model.

The only good thing about the state is the natural resources and the landscape and even that sucks now with this horrible drought.
107  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Gonna start mining small again which coin and pool? SHA-256 on: August 16, 2014, 11:20:14 PM
I just moved back to my apartment and I found some old miners (SHA-256). The speed is around 1.3 GH/s (WOOPIE) but I am going to mine anyway for fun. Which coin and pool should I choose? I used to mine AUR, I need one that gives a lot of coins so I can exchange them for BTC easy.

Boy have you been out of the game.  Your PrimeDice sig is going to pull in more income in 1 post than your 1.3GH/s on any pool.  Just point it at BTC Guild, Bitminter, Eligius, or similar pool if you are inclined to mine.
108  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclock 2 Antminers S3 using Corsair RM1000 on: August 16, 2014, 11:01:55 PM
Damn good supply !

Lucky you, but I do not load that much.
Not burning the home should be a primary concern

Just because it works, didn't mean it's ok
Electricity have its own set of rules ...

Just saying, I never had a argument with my ex on P/S
Feel strange and good at the same time, disturbing  lol

Yeah mining operates on it's own rules.  A lot of people are probably pulling more from their wall than they should considering the wiring in their homes/apartments.  All my miners are in an area with a fire suppression system so even if a fire started the worst scenario would be my miners would die, not people.

Look back at the old GPU miner threads - people awoke to the smell of smoke or saw flames/coming out of their cards.

People had their BFL PSUs go up in flames very frequently and some had their Singles go up in smoke from bad design.
109  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclock 2 Antminers S3 using Corsair RM1000 on: August 16, 2014, 09:15:03 PM
80% is the load target, perfect if not OC.
With OC, 450W-500W/each S3 will load P/S near its limit.

100% Load will lead to a failure one way or other.

Trust me, I'm a professional system integrator.
I worked on stress test : vibration, thermal shock, high and low temperature
MTBF mean something for me, I know how it's done.

My 2 cents

Trust me.  I'm running my GPU farm and not one of my PSU's is running under 85% load with an ambient of about 85F.  My 6870/6950 rigs have been mining for over 3 years continuously on the same power supplies - first BTC, then scyrpt, and now CN.

The only PSU I have had fail was a Seasonic 750 Gold where one of the cables melted - probably a bad cable since the PSU has been putting out 720 for the last 2 years no problem (no ripple).

This is not recommended for the cheap bronze or 80+ PSUs or for home use due to fire risk.
110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces monarch shipping on: August 16, 2014, 09:06:10 PM
But first the Luke Unit must be deployed.
Officially "shipped" as a customer unit.

Well technically they don't really need to ship it.  They can imply that a shipping label would have been used has it been necessary to ship but otherwise in no uncertain terms would they not have shipped had they not actually had the unit for sale to a customer.  Do we need to revisit the Luke-jr "shipped" semantics thread.

111  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Crypto Miners (around the world) on: August 16, 2014, 08:30:31 PM
So you effectively talking about price fixing and pump and dump schemes.  Regardless of the fact that many users will circumvent this just to get their revenue stream out - it's also bad for any crypto because what you are doing in effect is a type of centralization.  Crypto thrives on decentralization, not making lists...
112  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.io GHS Bubble ? on: August 16, 2014, 08:27:48 PM
Cloud mining never been profitable right?
It was profitable for some time when difficulty wasn't this high and didn't increase that fast. It was a very long time ago and it is no longer profitable was the difficulty rises faster than before.

I don't think that time ever existed.  CEX.IO was the first and has only been in business about 1 year.  Last year at this time were were having 20-30% jumps with these new things called ASICs brought to the table.  The jumps have slowed down if anything.
113  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclock 2 Antminers S3 using Corsair RM1000 on: August 16, 2014, 07:52:34 PM
Carefull, 360W / 12V  = 30A total /  4 Connectors

Cables must carry 6A / Connector, plugging the 2 end with draw 12A from a single cable.
When OC its more ...

Cable/Connector can hold 10A, you will overheat your plug and possibly damage your miner.

Also 1000W is a bit short in term of power, already loaded at 80% before OC.

I recommend a stronger P/S
http://farming-money.com/1200w-supernova-p2-power-supply-w-10yr-warr/

A good power is the first key for a happy miner  Cool

For a Gold Corsair 80% load is perfectly fine.  You can even run it 100% load 24/7 for a couple years and probably not have a hiccup.  The max output drops every year though.
114  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Antminer S3 upgrade kit???? on: August 16, 2014, 07:49:51 PM
Keep your old S1 as is, when upgraded, when can't mine anymore with your S1.
They recycle the heat sink.

X-Hash dropped price on gridseed products this morning.
You can order 1TH / 1200W for 1000$

http://www.x-hash.com/go?url=EX4RZF8pUnAXKlUoRDgUaQpwAyMHKkk2BC8Te0V2DCsFahY5UzJCf08lBXgAIw93FHYEfEEjFiBcJgc0QiAAYg%3D%3D

Little less efficient in power but damn good deal.

I bought 2x hosted S3 for 1000$ yesterday, only get 840GH for my buck.
http://gawminers.go2cloud.org/SH38

New from today : Hashlet cloud miner
Have a look before spending money

http://gawminers.go2cloud.org/SH38

That's a decent price for the GH/s/$ but the power usage is double that of an S3.  That means it will make money up front for the first 3 -4 months and then have an early retirement compared to something that is a lot more efficient.  Bitfury gear is still able to run due to it's great efficiency.

Unless you have really cheap power always go for higher efficiency, especially when it's double as in this case.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we have too many alt coins? on: August 16, 2014, 09:10:05 AM
Look at this.  I think we can squeeze out a few thousand more turds:
http://mapofcoins.com/

Ok, that's a cool ass map. But damn, 52 in one month!!! This shit has got to stop!

As long as there are new users driven by greed who will listen to some raving lunatic they don't know talking about how Buttcoin is going to be the next Bitcoin then there will be pump and dumps.  They steal money that should have been invested into reasonable coins - ones where the devs have credibility and are actually working towards a goal.

116  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How much bitcoin can i generate with this puppy? on: August 16, 2014, 08:42:54 AM
I'm just going to comment since this post is already at the top...

Did you guys responding after fisknils even notice that he bumped a thread that was posted in January of this year?  That's like bumping a 10 year old thread about how cool this new website called Myspace is  Tongue

Also the OP last logged in 50 minutes after he/she posted this, and hadn't come back since.  There's no point adding to the discussion.  Please always check the date of the original post.
117  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: A Bedroom of Pc's? on: August 16, 2014, 08:39:07 AM
Well you said not to say "don't bother mining" but it has to be stated that you will end up spending your parents money on trash effectively.  If you want to just practice mining on one machine pick the strongest one and mine BCN (Cryptonote) since it's the most profitable CPU coin at this moment - but you'll still end up losing money via your parents.

If you want to be financially smart, sell off the parts or the whole rigs and use the money to start a Bitcoin business or just buy Bitcoin right now since the price tanked (which is another reason not to mine right now).
118  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces monarch shipping on: August 16, 2014, 07:49:13 AM
Oh come on we all know how BFL shipping works... Maybe a few units here and there then some sort of parts delay.  A few more units then another delay etc...

Jody will "mail" one out to Wired, then one to Reddit, then one to Gizmodo....

The first customers bumping up from their 2012 Single orders should see a Monarch around September....2015.  Just in time to refuse delivery and then get both no refund and no miner.
119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} WHAT THE!! ButterflyLads WONT deliver the Monarch Till...ONLY GOD KNOWs?:( on: August 16, 2014, 07:44:22 AM
Need to throw a new batch of popcorn into the popper, this is getting good.  Reading the forums I'm still able to read dissent in the posts but no outright scam accusations, guess they want to delete every post but then the admins would be talking to themselves  Cheesy

SLok.... "BFL is in no way related to EMC".  Truer words could never have been written (try not to read that while drinking a liquid over your keyboard).
120  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What cloud mining site do you use and why? on: August 16, 2014, 07:25:45 AM
I don't see any difference between lunamine, which just ran away with 2000 btc, and pbmining.  Lunamine was very responsive and friendly.  I guess they just didn't keep the con going long enough.

I remember you used to have a lunamine sig  Tongue

You know what would be really funny is if lunamine, PBmining and other mining companies are all run by some crime syndicate.  They could just be pushing customers from one burning building to another and scamming them over an over. Since nobody knows the incorporation info of any of these companies it could be Trendon Shavers operating from Texas for all we know!  Shocked
