1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAVAJO COIN - Anonymous Technology BETA STARTED ● CHAT ● Faucet! on: March 06, 2015, 12:05:08 PM
Hi i have a question about "bots".
This "bots" on exchanges are people, group or it is a program?
Because they are very fast, with lot of times less than a second needed to put order lower/higher than me!
So how is working exactly?

Bots are normal part of markets. Those are program wrote by people which make trading more easy. They for example set some threshold for their offerts so whenever you give higher offer, bot will automatically beat your offer for 1 sat.

A question I have always done to myself, but this bots in that way, and especially when
there are two or more bots which fight each others, they do not waste a lot of money in fees?

I think too they are boring, but maybe sometimes you can use the bots of others, even to your
advantage, with a bit of luck. Wink
1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAVAJO COIN - Anonymous Technology BETA STARTED ● CHAT ● Faucet! on: March 06, 2015, 11:54:35 AM

so the coins should be at least 4 days old?

Maybe this is the reason. I have coins in my wallet for a long time, so when I unlock wallet, it start to staking immediately. I assume somebody who know it for sure will answer soon with details.

Cof Cof ... QED

AFAIK, right now specification are:
                Min age: 2 Hours
                Max age: 1 Day
                Minted Blocks Maturity: 60

                TxConfirm : Min 3 block

Taking a practical example, after receiving the coins by someone
else, they are confirmed and become expendable after minimum three confirmations.

After 2 hours, they become mature and ready for the staking, and their weight
(and so the probability to stake) grows for another 24 hours.

So passed the first two hours, _when_ the wallet is on line, it have mature coin,
it is synchronized, and is "unlocked" or "unlocked for staking only",
it will show a green arrow, and it could generate a new block stake, but only if
you are very very lucky, and on line.

Usually it takes a lot more, depends on the global network weight, depends on
the POS difficulty, depends on the value of the pile of coins, and as said before
depends on luck.

And if luck has a fixed limit of two hours, there is no limit to bad luck,
there may be pile of coins that have not produced stakes for several weeks.
Obviously there are extreme cases, normally expect a few days.

In any case, after having produced one stake block, the pile of coins becomes
unavailable for 60 blocks, while waiting to be confirmed.
After that, it again becomes expendable, and after two hours, become mature to
generate another stake.

Each pile of coins that you have received in wallet has a story in itself,
and can produce stake independently of the other pile.
It is not uncommon to have two or more pile that can go in the stake,
while others is still in the process of waiting for the confirmation.

Bye

Because the server will probably go off line, here is the rich unofficial list, updated a few hours ago.

Some impressive figures, the first 5 addresses together hold more than 25% of all the money of the NAV,

Top addresses are just cold wallets of Markets. First one is Bittrex so those are coins of all of us :p

This was an objection which had already been made, but it is not entirely so,
this is only true in some cases.

Have you noticed the column POS I put?
It indicates how many blocks POS were generated from that address.

Yesterday, for confirmation, I asked to the three Exchange if their cold or on-line wallets
are enabled to POS stake, and their answer was no, and about the cold wallet,
the response of Bittrex was the most peremptory:

Quote
If the wallet has a staking=0 command we use that in the config.  If it does not we
comment the staking code out and recompile.  It is not possible to stake cold wallet
storage as that means it would not be cold wallet storage.
Anyone claiming to stake your coins and keep them in cold storage is misleading you.

So if we see an address which generates a large number of blocks POS or POW,
then the only conclusion we can draw is that it is not an Exchange, and with a
good approximation we can say:

 Grin Grin

And if we exclude dubious cases with POS at 0, the first five whales hold approximately 18%
of total NAV, and our MobyDick "sfdzo3" alone exceeds 9%.

Hey !!! We reached 58M Nav, and later today we will exceed one million blocks.
Who prepares the party?

Bye

FYI

server is moved to new hardware and running smooth again Smiley rock on navajo!

This is intolerable, a real shame.
A pass so fast that you leave us no time to complain a little.
What the heck, you should be ashamed of all this speed. Wink

 Grin Grin Grin

Obviously, congratulations and thank you for what you did.

Our server ingesting.moved to a new hardware this evening. There will be a downtime while we do so!

Because the server will probably go off line, here is the rich unofficial list, updated a few hours ago.

Some impressive figures, the first 5 addresses together hold more than 25% of all the money of the NAV,
and the first 20 have cumulatively more than 50%, so they have more of the rest of the holders.

Below there is a list of addresses that have undergone major changes in the last 7 days,
the list is very experimental.
Counting only the first 10 addresses listed, they have accumulated a total of more than 2.5 million NAV.
It seems to me that now really much money are changing hands.

Guys, where/how can I find wallet.cpp file?

You can find the original file that you must modfiy in Linux repository, here:
https://github.com/ilsawa/sumcoin/blob/master/src/wallet.cpp

But I am on Windows. Can someone compile win wallet with this fix?  I have just academic interest. Smiley

The source code is common for Linux and Windows.

As a general rule, for good reasons of security, the executable of a wallet must
always come from its Dev, which in this case is gone, perhaps out of shame.

So excuse me, but I do not feel like to send you the program re-compiled,
but perhaps I can still be of help, I found how you can do alone a patch
to the executable code.

Download from the first page of this thread the original program for windows,
and upload it in the binary editor you prefer.

Go to the location 000FF5D9 (1045977), here you should see this series of bytes:
000FF5D9: C0C54EECC483F863771D

the byte that contains the "63" (99 in decimal) is the number to be changed,
you can put 05 as the first patch indicated, or 01 as suggested by Patjar.
Once modified, the result should look like this (in the case of 6):
000FF5D9: C0C54EECC483F805771D

Once done, if everything matches, save the file with a new name, the work is finished.  Grin

At this point the new wallet is now fixed, and if you have some coin in your wallet,
it should be able to go into stake without getting stuck.
Hypothetically speaking. Wink

Bye Bye

is it better to divide my nav with coin control?

bump what does that mean. does it stake better if coins are split up?

It makes no difference. Even if you have 1 million NAV on one transaction, the wallet will split them up when staking in chunks of 1000-3000 each

Makes some difference, but in reverse.

Some crypto-currencies have a number of inherent limitations with their model of stake,
which require him to divide the pile to avoid heavy restrictions on the final value.

Another good reason, even if extreme, it could be that in the case where at a certain time
in the whole network there were only very few piles, each of enormous size ready for the stake,
it could lead to the paradox that once they are all gone in stake, it would be very difficult
to generate new blocks and then confirm the previous stakes.  Block chain locked.

In any case, it is true that the wallet automatically performs a split of the pile, a division into 2,
roughly the same value, but only if the stake occurs rapidly, in a time less than MaxAge [1],
currently 1 day, but if the time to achieve the stake was longer, there is no split.

One thing to keep in mind is the CoinWeight, it makes more or less likely to get a stake,
this value is given by the value of the pile, multiplied by its age with a limit equal to MaxAge.

In practice the CoinWeight, starts from a minimum value as soon as the pile becomes mature
for the stake (MinAge: 2 hours), and continues to grow in a linear manner until the age
reaches MaxAge, from that point on it remains constant.
Obviously, when you have "luck" and you get the stake, the cycle begins again.

So it seems to me that by this reasoning, evidence suggests that the value of the pile ... has its value. Smiley

One other school of thought, considered better to have a large number of smaller pile,
so as to have a kind of so many lottery tickets though with smaller prizes and more sparse,
rather than just few most valuable.

Of course you are free to choose and experiment with as you wish.

Bye Bye

[1]
EDIT:
I double checked, I'm sorry I made a mistake, the test carried out to decide whether or not
to split in two the pile, it is not tied to the MaxAge parameter, but is linked to the variable
nStakeSplitAge which corresponds equally to a day.

Another reason is that you might have a connection too slow, or the wallet is able
to establish only a low number of connections.

Remy, how do I increase the number of connections?

Typically, a number of connections between 4 and 5 are more than enough,
then if they are more is even better, because in this way it helps to rapidly
redistribute among the peer the packets with the transaction and the blocks of the chain.

Normally the wallet try cyclically to create outbound connections to other nodes,
hoping that these other peers accept incoming connections.
But sometimes this does not happen, because even their wallet is listening
and waiting for a new external connection, they may have the router, the
firewall or nat, which by defaults prevent these incoming connections to arrive
up to their wallet.

So if you have a few connections and you want to help the network, you might
want to check that your router / nat / firewall, let it get incoming connections
to the port on which the wallet listens to receive connections from other peers,
which in the case of NAV, should be the port 44440.

In this way, even if you will not be able to contact them, because they are still
not able to listen, then they will be able to contact you cyclically, this time successfully.

A similar kind of problem you may have with many games, p2p or programs that directly
exchange information, and certainly you can find many guides on the net about it.

Regarding the procedure to do it, I can not be precise, the types of equipment change
much, and certainly here there are those who experienced than me on the subject.

Sorry I got ahead of myself. I open the wallet for a couple of hours while im surfing and shut down with computer. Have not had on for day and night for days on end.

What I meant to ask is what is the main difference between something like electrum wallet? that is open and running straight away,  vs. these wallets that you have to sync.. I meant it from a simpleton point of view. Like long term for wider adoption nobody wants to wait for anything.

So you complained about something that you have not even tried to do. ^_^

I know little the electrum wallet, then I could say nonsense, but I seem to have been
designed primarily for systems of type "pure POW", where the task of advancing the
blockchain and make it safe and decentralized, is entrusted to the many miners,
while in the case of the project electrum the data blockchain, is stored on a number of external servers.

Instead in the currencies of type "pure POS", as Navajocoin, is a precise task of each wallet open,
to check transactions and stake coming in the blockchain, based on the operations previously stored,
of which every wallet retain a copy distributed.

A lightweight version of the wallet, I would say almost amputated, so without the ability to
verify the operation and / or staking, perhaps it would be possible, but if it were used massively,
would be at the expense of decentralization and global security of the network.

In any case, if as suggested by Soopy in the future there will be a reduced version of the wallet
for the web, there will be the no need of a lite version of wallet.

Regarding the fact that no one wants to wait, especially young people, I do not say anything...
I prefer to leave it to do HashForce, he rightly repeats a phrase in this regard.  ^__^

Its the future and the new generation owns it. With that being said, I believe in the idea buTT the main issue I have with the whole ordeal is time framing. I've been trying to sync my wallet for a week now and still have 345 thousand blocks left. Is there anyway to get this time frame down??

I must admit that it is a long time that I do not do a boot blockchain from scratch (I've made too many in the past  Grin),
but from what you say there might be a total duration of about 10 days, it seems really exaggerated.

The 'Currente number of block' shown in the Debug window, advancing on a regular basis,
or stopped at a specific block?
The wallet may have simply frozen, try to restart it. The wallet will start again from the point where you left off.

Are you sure you have no other hardware or software problems on your PC?
For example, a harddisk that for some reason has an access time which is too slow,
may adversely affect the time necessary to complete the update.

Another reason is that you might have a connection too slow, or the wallet is able
to establish only a low number of connections.

However, there is also the blockchain in zip format, which significantly shortens the
time necessary to complete the initial update.

I will try further!

Hm. May be I wrong...
It's really said
Quote
Proof of Stake

Min Age   4 days
But as I remember I hadn't wait 4 days before staking...But it was so long ago...

It used to be 4 days but that changed months ago. Now its 1 day

AFAIK These are the POS specification currently in use:
        POS (Phase 2 Started) :
                   Min age: 2 Hours
                   Max age: 1 Day
                   Minted Blocks Maturity: 60
POS phase 2 Start after Block Height: 141350
Stake Interest: Rest of first Year: 20%
                                              Second Year: 10%
                                     Third Year + nYears: 5%

Naturally, the time required for a pile of coins to generate a stake block with success
is not fixed, but as in any coin that uses the POS, it varies greatly, depending on the
value of pile of coin, and the overall condition of the network, and in part by luck.

This is an effect of your work, or is there some other problem on the network of server?

Bye Bye

Word ..the site was down a couple of times for a bit. Due to work I hope.. whats the dealio  Huh

Right now for me is off-line. The reason I ask this is just to understand.

If there is another type of problem, I think the Dev should be advised, otherwise
we can not expect that the problems will resolve themselves.

From my point of view, give feedback about how things work or not,
is the best support that we can give to its developer.

Hello Pakage, are a couple of days that the official website, and the block
explorer work intermittently.

Today the block explorer could not seem to ever catch up with blockchain height,
was always ten minutes or more behind. Now it seems again off line.

This is an effect of your work, or is there some other problem on the network of server?

No one selling, no one buying, no one writing anything here. CALM BEFORE THE STORM Tongue

Yeah, a time of waiting, laden with tension and hopes.

The blockexploror right now is back on line, and it is upgrading a little at a time.
The richlist however is not yet updated.

Regarding the blockchain, there is no news worth mentioning, which is in itself
already a good news.

Below is a richlist, as usual unofficial.

THE ABOVE METHOD WILL FORCE YOUR WALLET TO DEMAND TO SHUT DOWN PROPERLY, SO THAT YOU DO NOT RECEIVE ANY ERROR MESSAGES WHEN YOU TRY TO RESTART YOUR QT-CLIENT.

I can not prove it in my wallet, but I would like to ask you if you, in previous cases of freeze
have you ever tried to use the command in the console window:
stop 1

This command serves to close all files of DB, and then close the wallet.
Perhaps it might be useful, and if it works there is also a small shortcut.

Cheesy Good Try . Navajoocoin is a re-branding of SummercoinV2 & SummercoinV2 is not a ANON coin  Cheesy

Next TRy Smiley

Interesting assertions. If we take these two statements to be true and we resort
to the use of a simple logical reasoning, then "IF" SummercoinV2 is not a Anon coin,
and "IF" NavajoCoin Is SummercoinV2, then it follows logically that NavajoCoin is not Anon.

 Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

So an exact answer to your contest is that no AnonCrytocoin can be linked to
NavajoCoin, just because within the period of the competition, so until the next release,
is the same NavajoCoin, which is not a Anon coin.

So if you contradict me now, then contradict yourself or the contest.   Grin Grin

However, to reduce the time, here is another further try,
it is a currency with another name, another abbreviation, another wallet, another block chain
incompatible with NAV, have other essential coin parameters, but has its own Anon system is
extremely similar to that of the white paper, and the his abbreviation is...
[Drum roll, to emphasize the suspense]  NAB and its full name is "Navajo Anon Beta coins".

I really think someone should consider take a look at the wallet again and maybe try to fix it, it's not very stable atleast to me and I'm sure many other people are experiencing the same. It would take maybe months if not longer to download the whole complete blockchain for any new investors (I know you can download the chain and save time but it would still take atleast a week or two to download all the recents blocks and be updated). another major problem for me is, the wallet would freeze every day or two (while staking) and I will have to kill the program and relaunch, then it would take 4-6hrs to download like 3-6k latest blocks before it can stake again, and this will just repeats every other day. it's insane slowly.

Wouldnt it be a good idead to put the blockchain in the cloud so people dont have to load it anymore and always have the most recent data?

Yes, the problem of instability has also been reported by others, and has been analyzed and tested,
is an intermittent problem that varies significantly from machine to machine, AFAIK the fix to this
should be released with the next release.

For the moment, the best advice I can give is to not wait for the wallet locks, but close it manually
and restart it at regular intervals, before it freezes.
This will drastically reduce the problems and delays caused by the updating of block-chain.

I can not tell you precisely how much must be the interval, as I said varies from machine to machine,
you must decide according to your experience, but one or two times a day may be a good starting point.

Regarding the loading time block-chain in itself, it naturally tends to increase, we are now close to a million blocks.
Well, IMHO, in theory, there is no real need of a cloud, the navojocoin network is itself a p2p network,
in which the nodes continuously exchange new blocks data.
Surely Shahim, before launch of new release will produce an updated version of the bootstrap.dat zip.

And if I am not mistaken, Shahim had proposed as a hypothesis for the future, a secondary smaller
bootstrap system, with a series of partial data each of them limited to a few thousand blocks, that
the wallet would load automatically in a transparent manner when necessary.
(Ok, yes this is something similar to what you were saying earlier about the cloud, but made on a smaller
scale and therefore in more efficient way)

The Prize is to link our Anonymous Technology to any Other Crypto Anon COIN  - DRK etc etc
