1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Problems you often face online in Bitcoin world? on: July 31, 2016, 10:33:36 AM
There is no shorter version of bitcoin addresses that we can easy memorize but what we can do is to save online somewhere like this one beetxt.com/OBi and it is enough memorable and easily accessible.
I don't think it is a problem since you can't transfer bitcoin without electronic devices, and with them you can store and remember any number of addresses.
What it would be neat, however, is implementing bitcoin transfers directly in popular messengers or social networks. But I guess it would be paradise for spying eyes of the government agencies.

But if someone wants to send you bitcoin and you don't have any source to access your address then you can easily tell him check beetxt.com/OBi and here you go.
If bitcoin gets integrated on social media like the facebook did on messenger sending money to friends then yeah there is no privacy.

It's better to have a longer address because you know that it is unique to others.

Bitcoin addresses can not be compressed as far as I know, so each address is unique.
1002  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are you losing money because trollbox? on: July 31, 2016, 10:29:07 AM
We know trollbox is not a good place to ask because liars living there, are you ever lose money because watching their conversations?

On trollboxs/chats stays those that maybe have loss on trading or a group a people want to pump a coin and encourage others to buy buy.
I was never been influenced by these people, but sometimes is good to read if there is any news about that coin if you missed any at that time.

Top 5 wallets to keep your bitcoins
In 2015, the number of bitcoin wallets has grown twofold exceeding 12 mln. CoinFox reviews five most popular and advanced bitcoin wallets in the world working both online and through mobile applications.
http://www.coinfox.info/news/6059-top-5-wallets-to-keep-your-bitcoins

TL;DR: Mycelium, Coinbase, Blockchain, Circle, Xapo.
But there are many other wallets which are better than few of these menitoned in the article.
I would add Hardware wallets like Trezor, Ledger etc. Also Electrum, bitcoin core are good as well.
1004  Economy / Speculation / Re: If bitcoin dropped to $1, what you do? on: July 31, 2016, 10:11:01 AM
I hope that when the price drops to $1 I wouldn't have any bitcoin on my wallet, what would I do is investing $xx in bitcoin and leave them on a wallet for few years but depending what will happen bitcoin has always a potential to have higher and higher price possibility.
1005  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OVERVIEW: BITCOIN HARDWARE WALLETS █████████████████ Secure your Coins on: July 31, 2016, 10:00:24 AM

I have purchased the Ledger cheapest one but the material looks very cheap, is the Nano S a strong material, do you have any idea if it is water resistant!
Ether support is increasing time by time and ledger nano S being the first ethereum hardware wallet makes the ledger more usable!

The new Nano S is substantial. Nor sure what type of plastic the case is made of but the body measures slightly over a quarter inch thick. I doubt dropping it would break it. No idea on water resistance sorry. I suspect the USB port would be the problem with water. This hardware wallet impresses as a very well made product.

The price tells the quality in this case, the Ledger Nano S seems a promising hardware wallet, I should upgrade to this one.

No idea on water resistance sorry

Not covered by the warranty (don't try this at home folks) but still it should survive an unexpected water spill https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNP3aXrsz50

Is this video made by you Tongue, exactly what we wanted to see, that's awesome that the Nano S is water resistant for at least few minutes but do you have any idea if the Nano S worked after a day or two?
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Problems you often face online in Bitcoin world? on: July 31, 2016, 09:55:32 AM
What are the biggest problems, hurdles, time consuming thing online which you face often in bitcoin world. Lets discuss them and try to solve!

Time-consuming can be considered creating the wallet, writing down the 24words and keep the private keys private.
If you need to send to an address which you get from the real world in paper then it is time-consuming writing the bitcoin address on your phone or in pc character by character.

Why can't you copy paste the address on your phone or PC? If you type the characters, there could be an error as well and since these transactions cannot be reversed, you could lose your coins.

The problem is that bitcoin addresses are long and not easy memorable.
In my opinions, maybe is better for us if can made or change the bitcoin address of random character become the unique character is made by us, it's will be more symbolize about yourself in the address. maybe anyone having another idea for bitcoin address has become easy to remember.

There is no shorter version of bitcoin addresses that we can easy memorize but what we can do is to save online somewhere like this one beetxt.com/OBi and it is enough memorable and easily accessible.

Isn't that scenario possible? You want to send bitcoin to a friend that has in a paper only his address and not the QR code (to scan it) then you have no other choice rather than write/type the bitcoin address character by character. I know that it is not safe but IRL it can happen.
The problem is that bitcoin addresses are long and not easy memorable.
1010  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: July 30, 2016, 07:38:40 PM
Any other coin rather than bitcoin is counted as altcoin, so Ethereum is but if the number of people using ethereum increases then it means that more people are leaving bitcoin or may come back after ethereum gets dumped.
It is not the possibility that if some one will invest in ethereum or any other altcoin then he will put out their money from bitcoin and will leave bitcoin, it is also the possibility that people invest in bitcoin and when they find any other coin then they invest their other money in other coins and remain their invested money in bitcoins.

I know that it is hard to believe that people that joined bitcoin will leave it so easy, but if people move funds to any other coin it means that the bitcoin price will fall down and maybe to $100 as the OP stated.

1012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mixer - How to Secure your Identity ! on: July 30, 2016, 07:12:06 PM
As shorena says it is not needed for everything to ask us to provide ID/selfie with ID and lots of other verification procedures which are needed mostly for lifting the limit for debit cards or using exchanges.
I like the idea of bitcoin mixers because sometimes it is needed to use these, but I hate when it is used by hackers which hide their identity in this way mostly.
1013  Economy / Economics / Re: Which one is good, trading or investing? on: July 30, 2016, 06:29:46 PM
i had about $200 worth of bitcoin.
How can i earn more with that amount?
should I trading? or make an investment?
and please give me some trusted site to investing my wealth.

**i dont want to give a loan, or else.**

if you had some advice, feel free to tell me.
really apreciate it.
thank you.

Where and what to invest with $200! I would be curious too if there is any good and trusted place to invest few hundred bucks.
$200 is equal to ~0.3BTC which in the trading world is not a huge amount of money, so it's easier to trade and join the altcoin world if you don't prefer to trade with fiat <=> btc.
1014  Other / Archival / Re: What would you say to people who advice you to sell all your bitcoin? on: July 30, 2016, 06:27:40 PM
I've seen many people around bitcoiner who keep say/advice them to sell their bitcoin because various reason such as "sell before the price fall", "turn it into real money", "don't be fooled with that scam", "it's illegal to have/use bitcoin" or other reasons.
So, what would you say to people who advice you to sell all your bitcoin?

I would ask them if they have sells their bitcoins, if they say no then I would block/ignore them.
Sometimes is good to hear suggestion from others but after all I'm the one who make the decision what to make with my own money.
1015  Economy / Services / Re: Lynda premium method+ unlimited fiverr gig+ free phone verificiation on: July 30, 2016, 06:23:59 PM

1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Methods to monitor an address on: July 30, 2016, 05:47:06 PM
If I have a known bitcoin address, and wanted to automatically monitor the balance, and possibly even be notified if there is a change in balance,
what are my options to accomplish this?
Are there functions for this built into core, do I need to be running a node, is there a website API for one of the blockchain sites that can accomplish this?

I've done some googling and found a little info, but figured I would ask here since there is probably more than one way to accomplish this,
I'd like to see the advantages/ disadvantages of some different methods.

(I think I should have posted this in Development & Technical Discussion if a mod wants to move it.)
Thanks in advance for any information I can get!

Please check a discusion here that was made by SebastianJu few weeks ago about any website/service that monitors a bitcoin address and sends out an email: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1536953
1020  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: July 30, 2016, 05:39:41 PM
What's the meaning for someone to join bitcoin at the lower price, those new people should consider bitcoin as a currency, same like buying a GBP, it cost what it costs and continue trading it.
We should continue working with the actual price and not think that we should wait for $100/BTC when I think it's to late to think what to do next.
Moving on is a must now, if you look at the current price that is like 500% more so do not expect that the price will still goes back to $100 as that would only be possible if there is a strong crisis that will happen and I believe it will not be happening again like what happen in the past.

With the recent move of coinbase by accepting and have the ability to trade ethereum on their platform can be not a good thing for bitcoin.
It's pretty impressive how fast ethereum has joined the market and now it's one of the most traded coin on the exchanges.
i think it is a natural thing? Coinbase is a purse, they would likely expand by adding wallet for etherum, because look at the number of users etherum also quite large, i do not see this as a threat to bitcoin, etherum not more altcoin just like the others altcoin. I'm sure etherum will have a lifespan that is not much different from the others altcoin,,

Any other coin rather than bitcoin is counted as altcoin, so Ethereum is but if the number of people using ethereum increases then it means that more people are leaving bitcoin or may come back after ethereum gets dumped.
