1001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Subforum for the Mining Software is needed on: January 12, 2018, 02:56:01 PM
The thread looks so messy

I think i'll be an good idea to sepaerate the mining software in an own thread

best regards johnjoejay

A lot of threads already here pertaining to mining software, just take your time to read and filter.

its not messy, its just that its under the hood of altcoin mining. proper search is required to gain knowledge.

1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig ZEC - 1060 or 1070? GPU's prices goes sky high... on: January 12, 2018, 01:50:18 AM
Hi guys,
Sorry for my bad English...
I want to add a new cards to my old small mining rig with 2x 7970. I was thinking on GTX 1060 or 1070.
Thats how prices look at my country (used 1-3 months old cards with warranty)
GTX 1060 3GB - 280$
GTX 1060 6GB - 400$
GTX 1070 8GB - 550$
*GTX 1080ti 11GB - 950$

* To expensive as for one GPU...

What will give me the best ROI? It's there a big difference between 1060 3GB and 6GB versions? I was looking on older theards here and prices on GPU goes sky high... Thats why I don't know if I should buy a GPU's to my rig right now. How do you thinks?

Considerations are Budgets and electricity cost, if you're on tight ones, go 1060, if you have some budgets then go for 1070 it sure is more expensive and has more hashrates than 1060, however if budget is not concern then go for 1080ti.

with Hashrates, not seem has difference at all in ETH mining, however, you could get some trouble in DAG issue later on once activated with 3GB, anyways, a lot of Ethash algo out there that has a small dag. Resale is also considered, 6GB is sure a big difference in resale value.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Riser Question for 6 1080Ti on: January 11, 2018, 11:57:13 PM
You'll need to plug 2x 8 pin connectors into your 1080ti, then one 6 pin into  your riser, and the usb of the riser into your MOBO.
If you dont have enough 6/8pin connectors, you can use the supplied sata - 6 pin adapter provided with the risers, it's not recommended though as they have been known to melt. I've used them on some cards for a while though no problem, but be aware it can cause issues.

Thanks for the reply, so I should buy a few extra of these?

https://www.amazon.com/MinerParts-PCIe-splitter-cable-adapter/dp/B073NMVCBS/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1515714632&sr=1-8&keywords=6+pin+to+8+pin+risers+cables

If your PSU doesn't have 8pins, Yes, you should buy those splitters, take note that 1080ti's also draws a lot of power, ensure you have enough Psu watts rating to handle those beast.
1004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in cloud AWS/Azure/Google on: January 11, 2018, 11:34:09 PM
Is it profitable to mine some CPU optimised hashes like Monero CryptoNight algorithm on cloud machines?

Let's say Intel Xeon e5-2620 full time 32 cores would cost ~1k$/month on AWS.

Would it work or it doesn't make sense?

NO, Read the terms and conditions on these clouds, they doesn't allow Crypto Currency mining, Been there, my VM's has been banned on google Cloud.  Cheesy
1005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power Supply Ports on: January 11, 2018, 11:32:26 PM
Howdy Folks! I'm in the process of building out my very 1st rig!

Today, I purchased a new PSU (Corsair RM 750x) on the back of the power supply where you plug your cables in, I had a question about those ports.

The ones that are labeled "Peripheral & Sata" can I plug in another PCIe cable with two 6+2pin connector? ( Link to product: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/type-4-sleeved-black-pci-e-cable-with-pigtail-connector-and-capacitors-for-type-4-psu )

This rig will have a max of (3) RD570 GPUs with just the bare amount of hardware (Mobo,RAM, CPU, HDD) to run it.

Thanks in advance!

-N

No, PCI-e has different pins and it wont Fit to SATA/Peripherals, you can't put in there Physically

you can install more than 3 NVIDIA 1060 GPU on this PSU.
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6 x AMD RADEON 470 Rig - Suggestions to increase hash rate for XMR mining on: January 11, 2018, 12:20:01 PM
Greetings to everyone,

I have since a couple of weeks a 6 X AMD Radeon 470 rig in operation with XMR-STACK-AMD mining software. The average hash rate is around 3.55 KH/s with the following settings in wattman:

GPU 1210Mhz
Mem 1750Mhz
Vot Auto
Fan 640-2600RPM
Temp 70 max

Is there a "safe" way to increase the KH/s rate with these cards from wattman or I need to flash new firmware etc?

Thanks!

To Unleashed the AMD's RX 470/480 570/580, you need to Mod the bios according to their memory types, below are tutorials threads

after modding, you can play with your clocks
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New mining rig with ASRock H110 BTC+ PRO not booting on: January 11, 2018, 09:03:28 AM
Hi all,

I'm in the process of assembling a rig with the following components:

MOBO: ASRock H110 Pro BTC+
RAM: Kingston KVR21R15S8/4G RAM
PSU: Corsair RM1000x
CPU: Intel Pentium G4400 3.3 Ghz
GPU: Sapphire RX580 PULSE 8GB (5x)
SSD: Kingston SSDNow A400 120GB

Installed CPU, RAM, 1 GPU via the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (via powered riser), connected CPU fan, CPU power (8 pin 12V), 24 pin ATX power connector, keyboard, mouse.

The MOBO is places on standoff screws on a wooden shelf.

On 1st power up, the fans start spinning (CPU and GPU), but there's no video signal. No indication the system is actually booting (no lights on keyboard - e.g. numlock)

Even when stripping the system of keyboard, mouse, SSD, GPU (just using the integrated graphics via the VDI port), clearing BIOS, moving RAM to other slot - there is no indication of booting, no POST, nothing. Just the fans spinning.

Tried re-inserting RAM (until I hear a click, pretty sure it is inserted correctly), taking out CPU to check connectors (looks fine to me).

There are some spare components on the way (RAM, CPU and even a different MOBO), but does any one have some suggestion on how to pin this down? I also have a chassis speaker on the way, so that could help me narrow it down to RAM, CPU or MOBO.

But have I overlooked something? Any other things I could try? Also, how sensitive are the components to static electricity? I don't have an anti static wrist wrap, but touch the tap (which should be okay right?) regularly when handling the MOBO and other components.

/Marc

Your isolations are pointing out to 3, RAM CPU and MOBO, and I'm afraid what I will suggest is to try the spare ones you have.  but I did assembling my rigs without anti static wrist and luckily don't have any problem with it, I've read somewhere that its safe  by just touching the bare metal of the case before doing assembles.

Yes i found some article that states clearly that even two cards with the same memory do not necessarily work the same and to apply setting individually

that's correct, however difference is minimal or most of it are on the same Hashrates when it has same memory.

But if am i mining the curently most profitable coin and my rig needs to mine x ammount before i can transfer/sell the coin for running costs i guess i should take into account where that coin price will be in x ammount of days/weeks i need before i can sell it?

Yeah, that's really a dilemma for a starter, however, if your purpose is to sell it right away in BTC upon mining, there are pools that offer those, Zpool and Nicehash for example, so you don't have to worry about days or weeks in filling up min payout to take advantage of coin price. they have sure a BTC min payout but at least it solves your problem on getting hot coins you want.
1009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Greetings and thoughts on: January 11, 2018, 07:33:39 AM
Greetings and salutations,

Recently built my first rig running 5x Sapphire 570 8gb Micron and 1x rx480 4gb Hynix and have been running it stock. Getting 24.5 MHs on 570's and 21.x MHs on the 480.

As for mining i am running dual eth/sia.

Well the plan for the weekend is to flash the bioses on the cards do oc/undervolt to see how high i can get.

Reading around i found crazy different numbers how some people managed to get these cards from 27 all the way up to 31MHs, does anyone have any of those cards and can he tell me what are the speeds they managed to get them to work?

Those are not crazy numbers, its an expectations after you modded your GPU bios, just play with clock setting after mod

The other thing i am wondering about is do you generally change the coins you mine daily/weekly to the one showing the most profitability or do you mine mostly eg. eth for steady profits? I heard some people who have multiple rigs run some on one of the bigger alts while using the other for exploration minign so to speak.

Thanks for the replies.

Taken from one of Legendary contributor here Bro Philipma, and I think a miners wise move is that allocating some of the Rigs for paying Bills so basically seek for the most profitable coin to mine, then others Rigs are on Coin hunt for HODL.
1010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: When GPU mining will stop being profitable?? on: January 11, 2018, 07:06:08 AM
hello everyone

I'm new in mining, just bought the hardware for my first 6 GPU mining rig.
I read that when POW change to POS everything will change and mining will stop being profitable... If True, why and how is that? And when will it be?

thanks for the help!!

Don't think that all coins will turn into POS, Other coins is solely design for POW, Let those coins that will become in POS, don't really bother about it, A lot of mineable coins out there and still increasing. I remember way back 2016 mining, ETH era other folks are too worried on Ethereum going POS started difficulty bombs, now look at it Grin
1011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New to mining! Ethash miner not using all GPUs on: January 11, 2018, 06:43:02 AM
First time poster, long time reader.  I tried a quick search but couldnt find my answer. I have 4 1060's using Ethash miner. It appears it is only registering 3 of them. I am getting about 55mh currently. Any thoughts how to get my fourth GPU involves?

Ensure that your 4th GPU is properly installed and detected in your system, if your using windows, check this in your device manager, if it doesn't detect or has an issues it could be the culprit.

Which software may be the best to mine Zcash with 1080ti linux/windows?

I am using EWBF for my 1080ti's mining zec in windows OS, so far no complaint about it, and super stable easily achieved 690-700 however i'm sticking on lower clocks for 650h/s preferred less power consumption. other users reported DSTM's a bit higher hashrates, you may check on the threads below.

1013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SAPPHIRE Nitro+ RX 580 8GB question on: January 10, 2018, 10:07:32 PM
Hi,

Plese help!!! So I am building new mining rig with 6 Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB cards.  All GPUs in my other rigs are Asus strix RX 480 or 580.
When I unboxed GPUs I was surprised to see that these Sapphire Nitro models use 8 pin and 6 pin connectors.
So my question is do I need to connect only 8 pin or 6 pin as well??
I googled a little bit and I can see that other users connected only 8 pin connector?
I don't get it why because there is also 6 pin connector required for GPU to run as expected or am I wrong?
I am mining ETH.

Thx in advance

this question already posted previously, 6 pin is optional, you dont need really to connect both, just use the 8pin and you'll ok.

this is my ethereum wallet - 0x930a1045e20ae27325c5de7de0dcf21dce371d1b

Help me pls... frens..

you can't mine with ETH with that kind of Card, you must have at least 3GB mem in order to mine ethash.

You build your GPU miner and have it delivered to their warehouse? They do the setup and charge you a fee?

you can buy also the miner with them, and pay the rents, not sure, but I don't feel comfortable investing a large sum for my rigs without touching and seeing them physically.
1015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining working for you? on: January 09, 2018, 06:18:48 AM
Which coin are you mining and what kind of equipment are you using?

GPU mining:

AMD RX480, Rx580, Rx470, Rx570 mining Ethash, Cryptonight and Equihash Algos

NVIDIA's 1070 and 1080ti's mining Equihash, Neoscrypt, Ethash Algo's

What are your results. What is your ratio of input $$ vs output $$?

input?? Huh do you mean Cost?

Output in each GPU

see this calculator basically if tweaked or modded you could get more output than listed in calculator online Cheesy

1016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CHOOSING A GPU TO BUILD A RIG on: January 08, 2018, 10:04:24 AM
any of those can be good on mining, however if you will take other considerations like, Handling, coins to be mined, resale value later on, budgets, will be a different story, for sure the RX 470 you would acquire will not be brand new one, so basically, I'll pick 1060's it sure has an advantage on things mention above except budget and pricing considerations.

Can i power a riser + a GPU on one cable? I basically need to know on how many and wich cables i should split up which components.

Yes, basically if you could split up the cable powering GPU and riser would be better, just use any decent PCIE splitter out there.

these are a good reads for you

After flashing on Stock bios, try to install it solely in PCI-e x 16, exclude other GPU's let it mine and observe, if still the same, then it seems its already faulty and will agreed the one posted above me, better RMA it.
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New Rig Troubleshooting on: January 07, 2018, 05:37:30 AM
New to the Forum and getting back into mining after I stopped years ago. I even have some Asic cube miners sitting in my basement holding some papers down. I have just built a new rig and having some issues.

Build Specs

SMOS Using DSTM but have tried EWBF also same results just lower Sols
Gigabyte Z270P-D3
g4400 processor
4gb ram
Zotac 1060 6gb AMP = 6 GPUS
1 GPU on MB rest are on risers.
EVGA 850 Platinum power supply
No monitor connected

Mother Board Bios Updated to newest Version.

Been Mining for a week trying to stabilize rig. Mining only Equihash algos.

Issues I'm having.

GPU 5 always has 30 Sols less than all other cards. Sometimes It Changes to another card and GPU5 will be fine.
Card will drop off after several hours still running but not mining.
Also having some invalid shares "been dropped from pool twice cause of it I believe"  1 to 2 % is highest I ever see.

I have reduced Overclock to the following but still not resolving issue of invalid shares.

Overclock at this time is set to following.
70 Core
500  Mem
Power 80
Hottest Card is at 53c so not a heat issue.

Average 1725 Sol / 3.65w at the moment.

Hope I stated things clear enough for some suggestions.

Thank You in advance to anyone willing to give there input.

Have you tried to Lower your Mem to 300, Core to 100?

here are 1060 users that shared their clocks and experiences, might be a great help and a good read for you

Sorry about that, if I have all five cards in it doesn't work whether or not it's on the riser or motherboard. But it works in both cases if I take out the two xfx cards.

Ok, have you tried taking only 1 xfx card out? in any case do you have some extra PSU's? I might be wrong but I feel some power issues, supposedly 1200w is enough for 5GPU's especially when modded underclock.
