2bitidiot's latest

https://medium.com/@twobitidiot/bitcoin-the-global-reserve-9e61d6954533

contains link to Vinny Lingham paraphrased quote from Bitcoin Africa conference

"The biggest buyers of bitcoin in the next few years will be government"

quite bullish outlook Wink.

What would it look like should a central bank decide to acquire a stash of BTC? Would that be a public policy decision made transparent before the market operation is going to be conducted?

The IMF flirted with the idea of acquiring BTC in 2013....

Doubt it.

Quote
Digital Asset's technology addresses these fundamental problems and creates a trusted ecosystem comprised of previously agreed and vetted counterparties.  This new technology is expected to make it possible for regulated financial institutions to accommodate customers wishing to transact in crypto assets and also to utilize cryptographic technology to settle and track transfers of mainstream financial assets more quickly and at lower cost.

Sounds more like a variation on the bankster-friendly Hyperledger style tech to me..  who's guys have recently created a money funnel commercial entity, a la Ripple labs

Bitcoin is listed in their career section but not sure if the relationship to bitcoin is much more than buzzwords in the press releases. There is some more reasoning on why old money would be more likely to adopt distributed ledgers over decentralized ledgers below.

http://www.ofnumbers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Permissioned-distributed-ledgers.pdf

The only revealing direction she appears to be going, is a world without the miners. In one answer she talks about....

"There are lots of different ways technologically to think
about the question of managing motivation for transaction
processing. The approach you describe is one approach that
exists today, but there are entirely different protocols where
the motivation of a network transaction processor, which is a
less pejorative term for miner, could be to keep the network
safe or functioning because they're users. So you could
imagine a world where you dont have independent miners
who are motivated by the financial return for their mining, but
rather people who have invested in a shared utility who have an
interest in it continuing to work because they are using it to
do whatever it is they do for a living."

In another, she mentions.....

".....a wholesale-oriented technology company that is
seeking to develop software and services for the application of
distributed digital databases, including but not limited to the
    blockchain
, for effecting quicker, more secure settlement of
mainstream financial assets as well as digital assets."

Sounds ripple-esk to me.

Letting the election aside: why the hell is the price free-falling?

Theres just no love for the work that goes into 2.0 projects any more. The NXT crowd have released updates, new features, upcoming PayExpo, even new blood on the scene, and still, the price trickles downward.  Undecided
It certainly isnt like it used to be, where peeps would play at a little bit of speculation. I dont know what the answer is, but it seems peeps only entertain cold hard facts that involve very significant tie-ups with very well known existing operators out there, who can offer real world exposure, like Overstock, for instance.
Maybe thats how its supposed to be now. IDK  Undecided

I blame JR, with his 'we can do everything' MSC talk-the-talk bull-shit, all that time ago, and delivering Jack Bo Didley.  Tongue

wow, more smartphone innovation on the horizon.  mobile is the bomb:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNTObCr4gnM&feature=youtu.be

This gives me tingles in my toes. Every cell phone can now be a hardware wallet that uses encrypted sms to broadcast. BitSim is my new favourite thing.

It's pretty awesome...

On the downside: what about privacy?

Seeing as everything is encrypted it should be private even in contract phones. for the paranoid there are always pre paid phones.
In any case I dont see that need being terribly relavent for this market.

This is the beginning of the killer app era for bitcoin.
Thats what initially came to my mind. Interesting that the/a killer app would be based on technology, of a pre app era. Amazing rewind.  Cool

I now want to see this actually working.

Big shoutout to my friend and colleague the billion-dollar bitcoin man Adam Guerbuez who was the original guy to post videos of the Xapo debit card in action: 1,2,3, 4,5 and who introduced me to Xapo and has been a wealth of knowledge on trading the bitcoin markets as well. Without him none of this would have been possible!

Oh dear.  Cry
Its only a matter of time before you regret associating yourself with this expert marketering fantasist, swapman.....or maybe not, if you share his past views regarding white supremacy/Neo-Nazis. Huh
Regardless if you do or dont, seems your young and naive arse, is under this guys spell. He really has you where he wants you, huh.
Check out the last line of the text below, and ask yourself if Adams quote could be you one day.  Undecided

http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/story.html?id=715018f6-7274-4e95-afc1-650db5b19939.............

"The Montrealer who was sued for $873 million U.S. by social networking giant Facebook was acquitted of lethal assault in 2000, ran a fake online shock-video store and was once a member of a skinhead group.

Adam Guerbuez, 32, of LaSalle was accused in a U.S. federal court of stealing the login credentials of Facebook members and of using their names to send spam messages.

Guerbuez was ordered on Friday to pay $436.6 million in statutory damages and $436.6 million in aggravated statutory damages.

Reached yesterday by telephone, Guerbuez declined to say how he will pay the damages and refused to comment on the case.

Guerbuez said he will provide a comment on his blog, which is at: adamguerbuez.com

He was acquitted in 2003 for an assault that led to the death of a man in 2000. He also ran the website that claimed to sell videos of homeless people being beaten and harassed.

However, he told The Gazette yesterday the site was a media stunt to get free publicity, and it never sold one video.

He was also a leader of the Heritage Front, an extremist group that sought to set up enclaves in Canada for whites of European descent.

Asked about this, Guerbuez said: "That's old news. We all do stupid things when we're young."
1031  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 07, 2015, 07:38:20 AM

Any reasons? Or is that just a typical emotional beartard knee-jerk reaction?

I'd love to hear a logical reason why you think that "ofc" it will go down.

Ball's in your court.

Reason? Analysis of formation, volumen and few indicators.
But this is too much for bull brain, i know. Smiley

I don't like that either, but they were positive comments so try to look from the bright side. All is good. Wink
Integrety of writers is shown by the quality of the content about the Via project. Not by defending it with personal reasons. That is a defensive attitude.
According to you.
Such a shame you want to play the thread police. Take a chill pill.

I will endeavour to post very frequent positive updates in this thread also from this point.
Its necessary to post negative updates as well, surely?

Not if there only positive news Smiley

Fair point, but walts-n-all, makes the journey more realistic and interesting, and actually gives value to the positive stuff.
