I have it at 20% more power in cataclyst also... that's overvolting i believe.

Yeah your right.  It has been so long since I used a 6xxx card I forgot about powertune.

I'm currently using GUIminer - is cgminer better?

If this is a dedicated mining rig then run Linux and don't unlock the second core.  You don't need it an it just generates more electrical load.  I actually downlclocked my semprons to 2.0GHZ cutting 10W off the load.  Yeah 10W isn't much but every watt helps. I also turn off onboard audio, USB3, SATA controller, serial port, etc as well as downclock the RAM.  It all adds up.  I run 3x5970 and entire system draws 860W at the wall.

Now if you are running Windows (100% CPU bug) or this rig is used for more than mining then you might need the second core.

but how can I overclock on Linux?

How much money will I get each month?

Hey guys,

Just finished my first rig today! Woot!

Rosewill ARMOR
Rosewill 1000W PSU Bronze Cert
Asus EAH6950 1GB x 2 OC'd@ 920mhz (top) and 950mhz (bottom)
Sempron 145 Unlocked to Dual Core @ 2.8Ghz

Are these numbers correct?
Both with flags: -v -f 1 -w 128 BFI_INT AGGRESSION=13
Mhash/sec:
Top: ~380
Bottom: ~390

Temps:
Both 75-76C

First time mining I don't know what to expect... how many coins can this rig generate a day?

CPU doesn't usually bottleneck anything while mining, but it is wise to find a CPU that a low TDP wattage. The CPU will draw power from the PSU, so it is wise to make sure that draw is as low as possible. The most popular CPU I've seen is the AMD sempron 130 or 140.

Good luck with the other parts!

How's this one?

Need the cheapest build for my TWO 6950s (bitcoin)

Hey guys,

I need all parts except graphics card. Cheaper is better.

No need for HDD / RAM also... got it already.

-I need a PSU that will support the 6950s and the rest of the system.
-Case does not matter
-Motherboard that does not bottleneck anything and supports at least 2 6950s

A few questions:

Does CPU matter? Will it bottleneck the graphics card for bitcoin mining?

How are these combinations?
