PS I am neither for or against flat earth..

Start off by lying - that will make us trust you.   Roll Eyes

haha! No I am on the undecided fence post!
I don't really believe anything NASA tell people and I am open to both ideas.

But I don't think any amount of forum trolling will every answer the question either.  ( need something to pass the day )  Grin
1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: SEGWIT LTC.TBDICE.ORG 0.5% fee SOLO MM LTC/DGE POOL 3K+ LTC/7K+ DGE blks solved on: December 06, 2018, 12:05:26 PM
Hi i just found this pool. Will try solo here  Cheesy

Sorry for your loss but its quite clear:

"If you enter an invalid address it will be ignored and earnings will be generated to the following address: LUNyycVonDH9aQMZn1fxyUeu8N3yS8w7ud and be considered a pool donation."

and

"All invalid user names for LTC will turn RED on Users page"

So you have not read what the pool owner wrote and expect him to read what you want to write and also to send you his LTC  Roll Eyes
Learn and be happy that this is no Solo BTC pool  Cheesy

Yes but it states nothing on the pool website about not to use M addresses this is the problem not everyone will find this pool via bitcointalk as as such there is no warning on the main pool page to say do not use M address.   People in here might know now to use it but your average joe miner might not find or know about the topic and be left missing out..

Meanwhile I checked the RDP logs on my system in
%SystemRoot%\System32\Winevt\Logs\Microsoft-Windows-TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager%4Operational.evtx

It shows some entries on Dec 4th which do not exactly match the time of the hack. But there are also messages going back six months. The setting of RDP is turned off

They may have connected before the hack and just been sitting waiting though if there is entry for the 4th I would assume that indeed was the attackers connecting unless you use RDP yourself.
I think the RDP logs only show the initial connection from the peer to host.

edit :  after thought possibly they connected with RDP first them infected you with some other type or RAT or malware from the RDP connection.  Is also highly possible.

It enters the frame at 20:58 and leave as 21:05 -   So  a shard of ice falls off a moving rocket.. then takes 7 seconds to "float" away in earth's environment.

You are right, it's obviously aliens. You got them good bro!

PD: someone who doesn't have the basic understanding of why you dont feel earth's movement, should not be allowed to discuss anything related to science, just saying.

I understand the "socially accepted" understanding of why we don't feel the earth moving my point was instead of just "trusting" what your told I was going off what my brain and bodily senses tell me that indeed we do stand on a flat plane that is rotating.

No need for name calling now..

PS watch the video...  Never seen "condensation" float like that....then be "blasted" away....

You must be an expert in condensation floating away from rockets. How did you get that degree?

So something that is moving close to terminal velocity.. right?  and then had a "bit of ice" take over 1000 frames to leave the shot... lol.

Three observations.  - PS I am neither for or against flat earth..

1. If you had never seen a globe or any nasa footage growing up and you trusted your brain and senses do you think it's plausable that we are spinning at over 1000MPH flying thru space on a spinning ball of water? without so much as a single feeling of "movement"  Every sence in my body tells me we stand on a "slowly" rotating platform.  Not a giant ball spinning at 10000MPH.
2. Have you ever seen 360 Degree footage from space?
3. Have any of you ever been to space?

anyone see the latest SpaceX launch?

Saw something in the footage that was a little strange.

On booster return there is a small "item" that  floats very slowly past the camera (now think about it)  Slowly floats past the camera.  then is blasted away by the "jet"

Now don't forget this is something that supposedly falling out the sky at terminal velocity....

Sit back and enjoy CGI at it's best guys..

https://youtu.be/Esh1jHT9oTA?t=1256

Watch the LEFT screen...  what is that strange circle thing "floating"  SLOWLY away from the "supposed" booster.

Anyone know what that little thing was??  Listen to the guy..  Oh it's ice...  lol really?

My ears burning even though this wasn't mine. They must have planned this properly, to have emptied out all of those wallets and accounts quickly while you were away.

I was not away - they did it very quickly and I could literally see how they drained my wallets.  Huh

With all the forks going on I am surprised we don't see more horror stories like this one every time I see a coin now that says 1:1 claim I become very wary.
Looking at the time stamps it seems they possibly recon this before they did the move so they might have had a good bit of time in your system to be able to strike over all those platforms in a short space of time.

I would agree this is not likely to be a loan wolf hacker or script kiddie if they went to the trouble of running via a vps then onto your system,

First hand I would be changing the RDP port on your machine.

The port setting for Remote Desktop Services is found in the Windows Registry. In order to change this setting we will need to change the Port Number value in the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp

Changing the port will stop them re-connecting to your machine in the short term.
I would also check your settings in windows control panel then go to remote desktop and turn it off (on by default)

You could also run netstat with some additional flags to see if there are any processes running on the machine that have established connections.
Or run TCPView and see if there is anything showing here that might give you a clue to how they penetrated your system.

The internet is carried almost exclusively by cables.

That is what you have been told, fool.

I have actually worked with internet communication dishes.  No wires involved.

Again, go out and experience life.  Don't believe everything anyone tells you.

 Cheesy

Not 100% accurate yes you can use things like the Avanti Communications Group satellite network it's slow and not very reliable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_nnUbX7uuQ

Most of the cables that hub round the world route via here.

Well worth a watch.
1091  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What if? Satoshi Nakamoto's identity was public information on: December 05, 2018, 11:46:44 PM
There is a lot of interest behind the who was Satoshi.
I would have to agree that it would be best to leave it down to Satoshi himself to either come forth or to remain private that is his right and should be respected.

Thought many people would love to see more of the Satoshi content again this might not be a good idea to release private correspondence.

Food for though :
Do any of you believe that Satoshi may have worked on another project after leaving bitcoin?

Or do you think he went full-time AFTK?

1092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I GOT HACKED AND LOST 1 MILLION on: December 05, 2018, 11:14:19 PM
Very sorry to read.

Do you know how the funds were compromised?
Do you have malware on your system?

NPM has recently been compromised and coin stealing malware was found in packages from NPM do you use NPM?

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/26/npm_repo_bitcoin_stealer/

edit* no need didn't see you were using windows..

I am not sure there is much can be done you could contact exchanges and make them aware of the stolen coins see if they show on any exchange.
I would also keep the system offline if the attackers have access they could attempt to wipe there tracks if the machine is connected again.

You could also run wireshark see if there are any strange packets or connections that might help though it may not be advisable to download anything onto the machine if you are reporting it to the authority's.
They may ask you preserve it as evidence.

Edit*  If you think it was a keylogger there may be some traces of were it set the logs to.

1093  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 05, 2018, 04:31:51 PM
Not sure he does but mining at a loss on an affordable scale is not so dumb

Ie loss of a few hunderd usd  a month for a year.  lets say  you spent 4800 this year mining and have 1 btc.

It can be in a wallet  that no one knows about but yourself  so paying  4800 for a 3900 asset is not so dumb  if it goes up to 20000 in a few years.

and you could sell the coin for 19000 cash  to a guy that has a fresh core wallet  and he now has a hidden asset.

This is 100% correct.
I also don't like I have to KYC to buy bitcoin here from most places and I refuse to deal on Local bitcoins.

So mining even for a while at a loss I really don't think of it as a loss right now more of a investment for the future with potential of x5-x10-x?? gains.

Basically swapping something that is very abundant (FIAT) for something that is limited and rare (BTC)

and I sub to the Hal finny way of thinking.. 10 Million per bitcoin.

Thank you for that!

I spent a good bit of time splitting it down into separate code sections only to be faced with the big red no no sign, got very frustrating..

edit : Just noticed your "commit" Smiley  love it..  Cheesy

1095  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Dead man's switch on: December 05, 2018, 06:25:47 AM
The problem with some of the suggestions here is that the coins will be released to the Next of kin If you're in a coma, kidnapped or in jail.

Maybe we could have a program that makes inquiries from lots of relatives and family members about your current state (dead/alive) whenever you become non-responsive. It should be a questionnaire with simple Yes/No answer. If  majority of the family members/relatives  say you are alive then it keeps holding the coins. If majority says you're dead then the coin is released to your Next of kin.

Having funds released in these cases is fine. It doesn't necessarily have to be death, being away for long time as a trigger could work as well. The less people or services used in the process, the better.

If you were planning on creating something for this purpose you could craft some kind of software that the user must interact with in a specific time frame say 30-60 days using some form of keys.
This way would allow use of encryption to "authenticate" the user and to execute the payments or release info if the user failed to submit a key in a set time frame the software could either broadcast a transaction that could be stored encrypted and becomes decrypted and broadcast if the user fails to interact or submit a key or token to the software in a set period.

Or the keys could be held in encrypted container format and the decryption key is released if there is no interaction with the software in the specific time frame.

1096  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are bitcoins real money? on: December 05, 2018, 05:40:18 AM
Bitcoin can be sold very quickly via many methods.

Some people use exchanges where you can sell your bitcoin at market price for USD GBP or other FIAT money.
You could also use a bitcoin debit card service where you load the coins to your bitcoin debit card depending on your country some good places to look would be

BitPay Debit card.

https://bitpay.com/card/

Wirex

https://wirexapp.com/

both the above give you the opportunity to buy coins and convert back and forth from Fiat to crypto and vice versa.

Bitcoin is volitile I  price if you are new to bitcoin it can look a bit scary to put money into something and see it fall but there can only be a set amount of bitcoins so as time goes on this will become a very scares resource and as such price movement will come over time.

If your new I would suggest looking into the above links and only buy a little bit of bitcoin to learn and understand it better buy say $20-30 of bitcoin to learn and understand how it works.

1097  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Safer than paper wallet: password-protected and replicated private key file on: December 05, 2018, 01:59:34 AM
Few trick I know are used are..

1. Select your fav book and select one word per page note the page number, line number and word number.

2. Use a book cypher to save your private key in a scrambled format.
If you use this method make sure you TEST it to make sure you have made no mistakes and you indeed have the correct info noted down to allow you to decode your PK

Reference :  http://www.drdobbs.com/security/the-book-cipher-algorithm/210603676

A book cipher algo uses letters of subsequent words in some text or book as a key to encode a message. Figure 1 is the simplest form, usually called the "running key cipher." In this case, text (usually from a book) is used to provide a very long key stream. T

he book used is agreed upon in advance, while the passage used is chosen randomly for each message and secretly indicated somewhere in a previous message. In this example, we agreed to use J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and to start on page 335, line 28, with the sentence, "Hermione bit her lip and did not answer." We write this text under the plaintext and use it as the running key. The particular message to send is "DRDOBBS." We XOR the corresponding characters of the message and the running key to get the ciphertext 12 23 22 2 11 13 29.

Plaintext         D   R   D   O   B   B   S
Plaintext (hex)   44  52  44  4F  42  42  53
Running key       H   E   R   M   I   O   N
Running key (hex) 48  45  52  4D  49  4F  4E
Ciphertext (hex)  0C  17  16  02  0B  0D  1D
Ciphertext        12  23  22  2   11  13  29

I am having some trouble posting in my Satoshi codebase post.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5077159.0

I managed to create the first 2 post's fine but I am having trouble posting part of the codebase into code tags.
I am posting code from Version 0.1.5 (link below)

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/releases/tag/v0.1.5

I copy lines from the file

File - main.cpp
lines 2213 - 2390

This is the Bitcoinminer section of the codebase.

I have split up the code like the posts above in link but the forum the shows me a Blocked screen.
It then says banned seems to be CF blocking the post?

Is there any reason that the site would not allow posting of this part of the code in tags?
At first I thought it may have been some kind or error or blocking as it was part of the miner in the codebase but even with the sections broken down it still blocks posting.

Thanks.
1099  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 04, 2018, 11:33:00 PM
At 12.5p/kwh which is 16c/kwh you should have been out a long time ago.

At $4000 you would have been losing $3 a day per S9
At $8000 it would have been $0.45 a day loss.

Hey I was still running my S3's.
Those puppy's alone were sinking the juice.
I think in the long run even with running at a loss come few years who knows where the price will go, it could turn into a very nice amount.
Happy to throw some fiat away to gain some coins for the long run.

Though now at 22p it's a 100% no mine situation.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/52-percent-of-all-javascript-npm-packages-could-have-been-hacked-via-weak-credentials/

Just watch out with NPM right now many of the packages on there are hosting malware or wallet stealers.

This is the most recent one..

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/11/26/npm_repo_bitcoin_stealer/

Thanks for the heads up, while I did have a good laugh from all the memes here : https://github.com/dominictarr/event-stream/issues

This is genuinely concerning. Mainly because event-stream is not just a small-time package, the fact that a dev infiltrated it and managed to sneak malicious code through the eyes of a dozen other developers is very very bad. ESPECIALLY because this wont just affect the package itself, but pretty much all the other ones depending on it.

For now findwallet is relatively small, I'm definitely going to try and chop off as many dependencies I can for this exact reason. Thanks again!

Yep turns out almost 12% of the packages there could have been compromised.
anyone with NPM should do some checking asap.
