Interestingly, I have heard the same from a friend. I can tell the same I have told him, too. Maybe it faces a challenge and this time a lot of people consider whether it still is reliable enough to put effort into, but we should not forget, there is a big potential in BitCoin and although I cannot tell what path it will take in the future, I am sure it would not just simply die.

I found it more like scripting, because you did not really needed to know programming / coding to understand what people have written above - and which, I do not want to repeat except if you have a question that I can answer. By time, you will use the code with more confidence and someone who knows the basics of such coding does not necessarily have to be a coder himself, it is enough if he / she knows some codes and what they do.
