1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - NEW COIN JUST LAUNCHED] *EarthCoin* Is Here To Make A Splash For 2014! on: December 21, 2013, 11:53:59 AM
Wait until we start our giveaways and bounty's.

We wanted to be transparent and put the 2% openly in the OP, you guys didn't copy the important part though (to be used for giveaways, bounty's, ongoing support/dev, dist., etc.). It would be silly to simply dump first chance you got or anyone got, we'd be back to square one starting over fast. We want to create enough to distribute and then have mining still be at a rate where these have some rarity to them and not have a super short lifecycle or blanket the market with them or start with zero/no incentive for anyone.

There has to be a balance and we figured 2% would be good and healthy for all + enough to give away to make people want to hold for longevity.

Feedback appreciated as always. We expected to see this brought up and are open to suggestions.

One of the problems with pre-mining is a lack of transparency.

I think you can really do very well with the community if you show a good level of transparency. That takes extra effort, but isn't really all that hard. You've got the Export function to get all that info fast, and you can then show it in the blockchain.

I know that you can't really have 110% solid plans, but those that are a bit more mature and that understand the topic a bit better will likely understand.

You're going to get flak no matter what you do, but if you are really genuine, a bit of transparency will only help.

Nice scam  Grin

270 Million premined -> wait till the crap hit an exchange -> dump and scam all noobs

Very possible. But why? You can earn a lot more by playing a longer game. Dunno... I guess that I just have more faith in people sometimes. Perhaps I'm optimistic. As a developer and crypto enthusiast, I know what I'd do, but I'm not everyone, so... who knows?
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - NEW COIN JUST LAUNCHED] *EarthCoin* Is Here To Make A Splash For 2014! on: December 21, 2013, 11:43:56 AM
260 000 000 premined coins when i'm getting 200 coins/hour on the second day?
I'm out =/

Wait. What? These were premined?

premined 2% (main post)
13.5 billion total coins

= 270 000 000 premined coins.

amazing

Not really. Pre-mining isn't always a bad thing. The chances that the coin takes on a life and does anything is pretty slim. Pre-mining allows the dev team to have bounties, giveaways, fund faucets, and all that kind of stuff.

Without that, what would the devs do? Giving away coins is a great way to get people involved. Just look at Dogecoins. People were giving it away like there was no tomorrow and it has caught on.

If you're a developer, and not a gamer, chances are you don't have massive mining rigs. You don't need 8 GPUs on a software development machine.

The entire anti-pre-mining thing is a bit overdone sometimes.

Now, 2% might be a bit high... Not sure what an appropriate level is... I guess that it depends on the projected lifespan of mining until only transaction fees remain.

There is a fine balance to achieve there, and I think we're still seeing a lot of experimentation going on.

Now, for a lot of coins... well, I just don't see much value other than for gambling on. Meh... Whatever. If you're buying USD, you're gambling. If you're buying Euro, you're gambling. Foreign exchange is just pure gambling. So what's the difference? Crypto is more volatile, etc. etc. etc.

Huh Trading started at $1 per BEK, I don,t get it either.

It's actually up since then! I sold 1 BEK to my wife for $10. Well, not really... I gave her 8% off, so $9.20. I figured that I'd give her an honest discount for inflation for the first year. But still... THE MARKETS ARE UP!

I don't understand... what's going on?

People aren't flocking to buy my Bernankoins!?! They're based on contemporary and modern economics and monetary policies used by the top governments and central banks!

Why aren't people flocking to buy them? Like, there's some interest, but this is like a fire sale! Window shoppers? Really?

People should be outbidding each other like crazy. There should be blood in the streets as people clamber over each other to get my Bernankoins!

I'm very confuzzled at the moment...

Ok, this just looks entirely stupid now.

209 GH/s on scrypt network hashrate?

Within 30 min of launch?

No fucking way that happens by accident. WTF is going on here?

"difficulty" : 9.19145467,
"networkhashps" : 236861983302,

And even higher now??? Diff over 9 already?

Somebody fill me in on WTF is happening!

Huh? What are you talking about? They inspire just as much confidence as .ws domains! Grin Tongue
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN - PRERELEASE] ****EarthCoin Intro**** - A new wave of alts is among us - on: December 21, 2013, 03:26:40 AM
Exactly. I'm worried about a trojan too.

No need to worry about that, there are plenty virus/trojan scans. Everyone can do scans before they launch it. Smiley

Unfortunately, this is BTC and there are some trojans and keyloggers that may not be easily picked up by AV

Always use a VM for a new coin. Or a throwaway box that you don't care about. If it works out ok, your golden. If not, no big deal - delete the VM.

I can always buy back in. It'll likely drop again before the beta starts.

Thanks for the pump. I sold what little I had & doubled my money. It's now trading below where I sold it.

In other news, I'm buying WDC for BEK. Any offers? Cheesy I prefer 1:1, but I'll negotiate.

Anyway it looks like it's hard to get to diff 8/QE3 - perhaps Primecoin wasn't the best base for this. Not enough printers!

Could be that a Primecoin-base was a mistake. After all, it does have some kind of redeeming value then. Cheesy
