1121  Other / Meta / Re: Notification on deleted threads on: July 13, 2020, 08:29:24 AM
I can use myself as an example here, I had made a thread called Max profit in crypto sites, biggest in industry? which seems to have been deleted from the Gambling Discussion board. The only mod of the board (hilariousandco) seems to have been off the forum for a week. So it's even not obvious who moved the thread as it must have been a staff member other than the person listed as the board's mod.

I'm on the board practically every day. Any Global or Admin could have moved it, but I don't see any report in the queue on it either so I don't know what it was removed for.
1122  Economy / Services / Re: How not to pay taxes on Bitcoin on: July 11, 2020, 10:52:23 AM
What? How is this going to stop people legally being required to pay taxes? Is this not tax avoidance (illegal) as apposed to tax evadance (legal) - might have the two mixed up idk.

You have. Tax evasion is illegal and tax avoidance is using legal loopholes. Op is probably trying some sort of scam though unless he's got his own little avoidance scheme set up he wants others to utilise, but I doubt it.
1123  Other / Meta / Re: What happens if two or more persons report a post on: July 09, 2020, 02:25:36 PM
They will both be marked as good. If one post is deleted all the reports against it will be handled as well.
1124  Other / Off-topic / Re: Email New month wishing Message alert from the forum. on: July 01, 2020, 03:20:43 PM
This would be very helpful as I often forget what month it is or when the new month starts. How about an email also every hour wishing you a happy hour so we know what time it is?  Grin
1125  Other / Meta / Re: How about restricting low rank people from opening new topics on: June 23, 2020, 10:07:26 AM

I guess if newbies and few other low rank members will be restricted to get approval on their topic, we may somehow solve the hassles of frequent removal of topics.

I've suggested this in the past. I don't think it would be a bad thing if all new users are essentially shadowbanned until a mod has approved their post or account. It would at least get rid of bots pretty effectively.
1126  Other / Meta / Re: What is considered spam? on: June 22, 2020, 07:21:19 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1684035.msg16904309#msg16904309

What counts as an unsubstantial or unconstructive post? There is obviously no set definition to what constitutes unconstructive posting as it is entirely subjective and is ultimately down to Staff opinion on what posts are constructive or not, but generally it is quite easy to spot a spammer posting only for payment. Spam can come in many forms, but a typical spammer's posts will often follow some sort of pattern which will be immediately obvious upon inspection and will usually consist of one or two sentences of rehashed opinion posted as fast as possible with the minimal amount of effort being put in. A quality/constructive poster will generally have no pattern to their posting history and will have posts ranging from one word to one sentence to several paragraphs and everything in between and this is what you should be aiming for. If you find yourself in a position where you are forcing yourself to reply to a thread due to your signature campaign then that's a pretty good indication that you're likely making unsubstantial posts.

Helpful suggestions:

• Firstly, just put some actual thought into your posts. Actually read the thread and the replies already posted. Often-times people will just read the title of the thread and post without fully understanding the topic or issue and make either irrelevant posts or say the same thing that has been said numerous times before.

• If somebody asks a specific question and it gets answered adequately within the first post or two nobody needs to read another ten replies saying the same thing just reworded slightly. If you cannot offer any additional info or clarify/correct something then you probably don't need to post it.

• If you struggle with English it's probably best to try stick to your Local boards. Your English does not need to be anywhere near perfect and you will not be penalised for this but if people generally can't understand what you're saying then it will likely be considered unsubstantial or spam.

• Short replies are not always bad and long ones are not always good. Sometimes all that is required is a simple one word yes or no response, but stretching out an answer just to appear constructive usually has the opposite effect.
1127  Other / Meta / Re: Posts disappearing on: June 21, 2020, 07:02:00 PM
You've posted in one thread that was trashed so that will account for one post missing.
1128  Other / Meta / Re: Is my Username Permitted? on: June 12, 2020, 10:14:20 AM
It's probably ok. There are many other users here that have some variation of satoshi in their name. I'd be more worried about you being sued by Craig Wright  Grin.

Sorry to bump this thread because I don't know where should I post about this case

User pikkie

I gave him seven days for unsubstantial posts.
1131  Other / Meta / Re: Report Profile to Moderator, What is the reason why we still don't have this? on: May 19, 2020, 09:23:43 AM
Just report one of their posts, or the post with the evidence in, which is what some people tend to do.
1132  Other / Meta / Re: Deleting 5 year old posts on: May 15, 2020, 11:30:15 AM
Some idiot is going on an unnecessary reporting spree. It's mostly pointless reporting the majority of old posts but if someone reports something  then some mod will likely handle it. I don't think we should de-facto prohibit people from reporting all old posts but reporting low-quality posts from 5 years ago isn't really needed.

Mr Hilarious has been feuding with Mr Mprep for many many years about his posts been deleted.

Quote
Can we get the option of seeing our reports that get marked as bad? I got a bad report yesterday for the first time in a while and I have no idea what it was for. I understand they're kept on the system for two weeks so I think it'd be beneficial if we could see the ones that have been rejected. This way at least people can learn from their mistakes and get a general idea of what should and shouldn't be reported.
I handled a lot of your reports recently. Guess I'm on a similar time line .I marked one as bad since you reported a thread in a Beginners section that actually fit there. That's it, I think.

So hilariousandco has known for at least six years that mprep shows no mercy when deleting posts.

Feuding with mprep? That's news to me. Marking one of my reports as bad doesn't mean he's heavyhanded. I have no idea what the post was so it could have been a bad report for all I know, or just a difference of opinion.

How many votes does it take to delete a reported post?

It doesn't matter. Sometimes a post is only reported once, and other times it could be reported by numerous people. How many times someone reports it is irrelevant to whether it gets handled or not but if the same report is popping up in the queue it will probably stand out more.
1133  Other / Meta / Re: Is this post off-topic? Should it be deleted after reporting to moderator? on: May 11, 2020, 10:31:21 AM
I didn't remove them but they were reported as low value. I wouldn't take it personally as the same user seems to be reporting dozens of accounts recently for the same thing.

I didn't remove it but two people reported it as off topic/low value.

Can't the affected post be reinstated? Meanwhile I don't understand why this got deleted. Topic was about how we lost our Bitcoins.

Yeah, on an old laptop I used to mine BTC a decade ago.

Forgot to save the wallet credentials and it's gone. Can't remember what's the amount though.

There's no report in the queue so I don't know what it was removed for or from where. Was it in a necrobumped thread or something?

Lemmie just slow clap whichever mod did this:

Bump again - will remove previous bump shortly.

(they didn't remove the "previous bump", rather just the updated bump...)

<Slow>

<clap>

Is that why you've gone on a report spree this morning reporting undeleted bumps from years ago?

Friends,

I ask you, what was wrong with this post?

As long as you obtained the wallet.dat file through legal means and didn't just copy it from a soon to be former friend's hard drive, then you can just drop the wallet.dat file into the relevant directory and wait for the blockchain to sync.  You might want to backup your own wallet.dat first.

I didn't remove it but two people reported it as off topic/low value.
1137  Other / Meta / Re: 60+ post deleted one day why? Someone report my profile or something else? on: April 22, 2020, 09:58:19 AM
This usually happens when a user reports your posts, as is what happened here. They were reported as unsubstantial one/two liners by someone.
1138  Other / Meta / Re: What is exactly the functionality of "Report to moderator"? on: April 22, 2020, 09:55:45 AM
Most of your reports are still in the queue. The ones that were seemingly marked as bad were the conovairus ones. There's two reported as shilling on posts from 2015 that have been marked as bad in the Romanian section. No idea who handled them but contacting Cyrus would be your best bet first.
I've marked several GazetaBitcoin's reports as bad since they were duplicates (as in he reported the same post several) times. IIRC I didn't handle any other reports of his.
Since when are duplicate reports being marked bad? Sounds like this could hurt the accuracy of those that mistakenly sometimes do it. No?
Since as far as I can remember. Not all mods mark them as bad, since not all mods notice they're duplicates. And yes, if you mistakenly do it sometimes, it will hurt your accuracy. If you want a perfect (100%) or close to perfect reporting acccuracy (which has very little meaning beyond vanity; according to theymos, total good reports + a decent accuracy is where it's at), you must have a perfect or near perfect track record. Seems fair for for such a high (and ultimately pointless) bar to reach. If maintaining a near perfect accuracy isn't your goal, the few duplicate reports mixed in with dozens or hundreds of good reports does very little to affect your accuracy.

In general I don't mark duplicates as bad. It's easy to make a mistake and they seem to be fairly rare though they do occasionally happen. The only exception I would make is if duplicate reporting becomes common by a certain user as it would be easier to bolster your report score if people were just spamming the report queue with duplicates all the time. I know some people care about their report accuracy a lot but as people have already said it's not something to be worried about really. Maybe on the new forum system duplicate reports from the same user could be ignored or grouped together.

...

Just wanted to ask about
Rule No. 4

And I just want to have a clear thought before I proceed.(well, I accidentally post my referral link but already change it)

Does referral link like this 👇 allowed?
https://contest-tron.ledger.com/124804/10175054

The Rule says:
No referral code (ref link) spam.

Is it allowed if I only post it once?

I also saw this post:

can put referral link  , promo link and gift link in my Signature ?

Referral links are allowed in signature and in personal text. You can also post ref link in post text, because in forum rules state: "No referral code (ref link) spam. " - so if you post it once, everything should be ok. But be careful , because if you post it second time mods can take it as spam.. Wink

Naficopa is just making his own rules up. In general referral links aren't allowed with very few exceptions. Spam doesn't mean posting something more than once and therefore once is ok. Anything is spam if it's unwanted.

is our superbru pool on pause, waiting the tournament to restart right?

Yes. Not much else we can do but wait. In the unlikely even that it's cancelled I'll probably just pay out the positions as they are now, but I think it's unlikely that they'll scrap it.
