When you use an api reference tool it gives you all the data available via the api. I was thinking something similar to that, with the sleekness of the tool you have already made.

Ah I see. I'll look into adding something like that in the future. It will be a ways down on the TODO list though.

how does one properly uninstall the app on Mac? can't be as simple as deleting the jnlp

Look under "tools" -> "bitminter client" -> "uninstall" on the website.

10 stale namecoin blocks in a row.  Is that normal?

No. It appears to be caused by bugs in the Namecoin software. I'll see if there are any active Namecoin developers.
1123  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Are there any disadvantages to merged mining? on: November 28, 2013, 03:43:09 PM
You could argue that flushing work when there is a namecoin block change could cause a tiny slowdown of your mining. It depends on your hardware how this is handled though.

At Bitminter flushing at namecoin block changes is configurable per worker, in case this is a worry.

In practice the income from namecoin mining should far outweigh this.

So, I have just started bitmining but I am encountering this problem with BitMiner client.

Welcome to Bitminter Smiley

Wrong name/pass w/F-Secure: Turn off website block or whitelist http://mint.bitminter.com:8332 in F-Secure

I started mining with BitMinter about one week ago.
Is it normal, that I can't use the newest version of BitMinter with my Block Erupters?
With the older Version (1.3.2) it works as it should (ok, it shows double the hashrate, but online it shows the real speed).

Welcome to Bitminter Smiley

No that's not normal. The latest version should work. What happens when you try?

This is using two Butterfly labs rigs and nothing was changed. It just out of no where started producing stale and hasn't stopped.

Did you try restarting the mining client? Or powercycling the BFL rigs? Or rebooting the host computer?

The race is not always to the swift, my good doctor.

Hehe, you are right about that Smiley

Bitminter was running for me for over a month and over the last 24 hours all it produces is stale work at 90Ghps... any thoughts?

Is this on a graphics card? Did you change the driver?
1128  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly! * on: November 26, 2013, 08:27:00 PM
I've tried unplugging it and resetting it, but always the same timeout error.  I tried flashing the firmware per the blue fury support thread and then reinstalling the drivers but nothing there either.  Guess I'm doing something wrong

Not sure what the issue is. Did you try bfgminer?

I love the icons you use (though haven't heard the sounds yet) and checked out the "Help" and "About BitMinter" but the links don't work. Can you post a list of your graphic resources?

Google the stuff in the about window.

Got my BEs and my BF running on the same USB hub.  Tried running the beta of the client from an earlier post in this thread.  It seems to be very particular about which ASIC is plugged into which port in the hub, I think that may be the result of the way I installed the drivers.

Really puzzling how it works for some people but not for others.
1129  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly! * on: November 26, 2013, 04:30:18 PM
The beta client was a no go also.  I get a time-out error when it probes the port with the blue fury.  Guess I'll switch to BFGminer, too bad because I really like the integrated pool/mining client.

Did you try unplugging the blue fury, plugging it back in, and then probe all ports?

I haven't been able to figure out why many users have problems with it. It works perfectly on both my Windows 7 and OS X Mavericks computers.

so yeah its a little high, but the fact that i see way more rejected when im on my work network than i do on any other network

Yeah, 3.3% stale is very high. Maybe something on your work network is slowing down network access?
1130  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly on: November 26, 2013, 03:59:05 PM
yet when i mine at home, or at the hotel i stay at frequently i don't get these messages

Getting some stale work is normal. This happens when the server sends you new data but you send in work results based on old data at the same time. The work is then rejected. Up to 0.5% of your work being rejected is normal.

So the question is, are you seeing an abnormal ratio of rejected work?

what's wrong with my bitminter client? It output nothing but Miscalculations for a long time.
2013.11.26 [03:41] Found 1 OpenCL-compatible GPU
2013.11.26 [03:41]  BFI patch failed!

Which Catalyst drivers are you running on?

Could you try updating to the latest stable or latest beta version from amd.com ?
1132  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter client (Win/Linux/Mac, BFL ASIC, Block Erupter USB) on: November 25, 2013, 05:54:27 PM
Is it possible to tweak the interface so it can be used as a reference tool. I know there are API programs available, but not to many for mac, and being java it's cross platform already. I like to interface and sleekness, it would just be nice to be able to monitor what's going on, especially for the ones who use hardware like the blades.

Just a thought.

Michael

What kind of reference tool?
1133  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [300 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: November 25, 2013, 05:28:38 PM
Devcoin and Ixcoin are almost worthless. Not worth the bother. We would even push their difficulties higher and make them even more worthless if we started mining them.

Devcoin is a broken concept. From what I remember it was based on a centralized dude controlling most of the coins and giving them to his developer buddies.

Ixcoin was an old premine scam. Apparently someone didn't read the memo and is still buying them, although very cheaply.
1134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Big or Small Pools? Very little time to decide on: November 24, 2013, 08:39:50 PM
i wonder why you would recommend that XD
i think you have an agenda... just my hunch Cheesy

I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about  Grin

Send me that knc miner and I'll think about it, lol

Mine faster! Wink

I think the USB sticks are USB 2. So no need for USB 3.

Your problem is probably that they don't get enough power.

I highly recommend Bitminter. It's super cool.

About that change you did in settings.. Might it be connected with bad luck that pool is having lately?

No. Changing the transactions in a block does not improve or reduce luck. This is superstition.

Someone also suggested that deleting wallet.dat and starting over once in a while improves luck with mining. This is also superstition.

It's normal to have some unlucky rounds just like it is normal to have some lucky rounds.

Note: the above is a simplification and not strictly true. IF you can find a weakness in the SHA-256 algorithm you may be able to improve success with mining. You can read about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sha-256 and try to find a way to break it. I bet that since Bitcoin became valuable more people than ever are trying to do this.

I also suggested adding the google auth to the site to protect thins like perks from being changed, workers deleted, changing payout address etc.

You said youd check in to it and like the idea so hows that goin ?

Haven't been able to find any info on how that can be done. But then I haven't had much time to look yet.
