Who benefits by part time and contingent jobs sana? That would be the employer and he makes those gains of the backs of the worker and you lefties are damned proud of it? And then you tell those workers they have to buy obamacare on their cut wages so they can have a policy they can't afford for the deductibles for?

Hold on, no one is against corporations operating efficiently, right? If PT workers solve their problems you cannot expect them to employ FT workers. And automation is eliminating jobs as well, and nothing can prevent the best, cheapest form of productivity.

And then you tell those workers they have to buy obamacare on their cut wages so they can have a policy they can't afford for the deductibles for?

Actually, owning their own insurance protects them from losing coverage if they become unemployed or laid off, and that is a very good thing.

Zolace, you seem confused, government does not create jobs, it sets the stage for job growth by thinks like holding interest rates down, accelerating capital improvement write-downs, insuring access to rail, water and highways.

Government also helps create jobs by funding research to generate innovation.

But, at the end of the day, no one is bringing manufacturing jobs back to 1960's levels. For that we need innovation and education.

Be of good cheer, this administration is focused upon these issues.

It is just a fundamental difference between the sexes. Basically, women develop less muscle and ....Well, this is how it has been going on since ages and root of this lies in the fundamental difference between the genders.. Women are the smaller side in terms of physique and stature and thus gain sympathy from people as a whole..
Yes, there is a fundamental difference between the sexes in terms of physical structure. Women have been abused and oppressed for thousands of years so obviously it is strange to see a man be abused by a woman.
Do you know what one of factors that have led men to become rapists?? Them being abused and not reporting the abuse, feeling shame over and and holding everything is. Not that I am condoning rape but it does give you a glimpse into a rapist's state of mind.
1123  Other / Politics & Society / Re: pentagon-mass-civil-breakdown on: June 19, 2014, 03:03:41 PM
Unfortunately.
When your job is to evaluate possible threats, everything looks like a threat.
And given that the Pentagon has to deal with our so-called leaders in ways and on levels that evade public scrutiny, perchance they have a different perception of the odds that our so-called democracy is being run by people who are really going  to screw the pooch.
Put it another way, given all of the high crimes and misdemeanors that have been committed by high public officials of recent memory, they may be getting ready for the blowback that will surely come IF we don't make some real changes ASAP. The people who give them their orders expect them to keep that from happening, whatever it takes.
1124  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iraq Isis Crisis: Medieval Sharia Law Imposed on Millions in Nineveh Province on: June 19, 2014, 01:12:27 PM
Yes. Which is exactly the problem caused by this "hearts and minds" nonsense.
Toss out Maliki, put in a Kurdish strongman who aligns his country with the US, and encourage him to start butchering Sunni Arabs who resist. Saddam could have EASILY put this nonsense down with a bit of well placed brutality. I mean, look at the Anfal campaign to see how to properly do counter-insurgency in the Muslim world. People like ISIS don't understand anything except brute force, which is exactly why they need iron fisted dictators like Bashar Assad or Saddam Hussein to keep them in line.
I agree. Nobody wants to f.... with the Kurds, and they will fuck with anyone. It may be hard to accomplish anything with them because we fucked them under George Bush 1's incursion into Iraq, and instead of getting help from the US, they got gassed by Saddam.

It 's sad what is happening in the Northern part of Nigeria and also what we have seen in Kenya and Iraq . People of the same nationality killing each other. Sad all around.
1126  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Boko Haram and their reign of terror on: June 18, 2014, 04:06:28 PM
This is latest news that "A new briefing paper by IDMC highlights violence and abuses perpetrated by Nigeria’s most notorious Islamist insurgent group, Boko Haram, and the scale of internal displacement provoked by its campaign of terror. According to government authorities,* a total of 3.3 million people have been internally displaced in the country due to violence, including by that caused by Boko Haram."

1128  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bergdahl prisoner swap? on: June 18, 2014, 03:45:18 PM
IMO, it was a wrong move. The reasons are:

1. Why free 5 terrorists for just one soldier? At the most the Americans should have freed one terrorist.
2. It will encourage the Al Qaeda to take more American hostages (both civilian and military).
3. It will affect the morale of the troops.

I really didn't like the way how Obama bypassed congress and made the swap secretly. In fact, Obama tried to make the same trade for Bergdahl two years ago, but at that time he did notify Congress just like he should have done and Congress refused the trade.
So, this time, Obama just didn't bother and made the trade arrangements secretly. But what the heck, since when can the president simply make decisions like that on his own??
Even if Bergdahl was in allegedly 'poor health' (which he wasn't as we can see how healthy he was when he came back) any action concerning diplomatic relations of the US government should be passed through congress.
1129  Economy / Economics / Re: Good business/economy books! on: June 18, 2014, 03:13:12 PM
The Wealth of Nations.

And

The Theory of Moral Sentiments.

I haven't read it yet,i had a look on it's reviews on amazon and think I will give it a try.
Adam Smith's books are interesting as they really ARE among the first few books written on the subject of economics. It's like you are witnessing a part of history by reading his books.
However, he can be a little bit too repetitious also, like what noviapriani said about The Big Short: Inside The Doomsday Machine.
1130  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: June 18, 2014, 03:07:53 PM
The causes of poverty are manifold. War, disease, famine and unemployment being the big players. We can overcome this problem by doing following ideas:-
1. Employment generation
2. Drawing on various social institutions to fund poverty fighting programs e.g. charities, research institutions, U.N. , non-profit organizations, universities.
3. Transparency in government spending
4. Canceling impossible to repay world debts
5. Prioritizing programs that target fundamental human rights
6. Taxing the rich more and the poor less
7. Building self-sufficient economies
8. Education
9. Involvement of the media
10. Microfinancing

The Wealth of Nations.

And

The Theory of Moral Sentiments.

Adam Smith is often described as the "founding father of economics". A great deal of what is now considered standard theory about the theory about markets was developed by Adam Smith. Two books, Theory of Moral Sentiments and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations are of great importance.
1133  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Events that changed the world... on: June 18, 2014, 02:11:31 PM
January 2, 2012, Occupy Nigeria protest began in Nigeria in response to the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government of President Goodluck Jonathan. Protests took place across the country, including the Nigerian Embassy in London, New York and Italy.

That is a neat one I wonder if this combined with the problems Boko Haram brought to the country
One can hope for change but I hope that change does happen and captivate the people to do something
Then it will be history and an event that does change the world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chibok_schoolgirl_kidnapping
We ,the governments, media can still do something about those girls before it becomes history...and an sad even that may not change the world....as many other events from history, posted here ,that didn't changed much  the way the people act today.
1134  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran actress scandal?? on: June 17, 2014, 06:24:20 PM
Actually, I do think Iranians have a right to have a say in the actions of people representing their country such as celebrities or sport stars because it affects the image of a country, especially an Islamic country like Iran!
Imagine an athlete from US saying how gay people are disgusting and should not be allowed to marry when he was at an international event. I'm sure the political backlash would be tremendous as well!
That actress does not represent anyone, even if she was only Iranian in the festival. No Iranian agency or organization authorize or pay her to present in France. She acted for her own, not for Iran.
Isn't too hypocrite to ask for an actress to behave morally for the name of her people, especially when the people is not that moral.

It really is amusing, the desperation in you.....

I think none of those are actually "jobs" bills. All are tax cuts and regulation eliminations.
You THINK? Is that supposed to be an educated response Sana? To have the resources right in front of you and refuse to read the information and form an educated opinion and instead opt to offer a negative opinion based on "I think" isn't a rebuttal or a defense for obama, its merely anti gop whining. And BTW tax cuts create jobs, that's a proven fact For a reference see the state of NY add offering 10 years of no state taxes for companies that move there. Did the liberal state of NY do that to make the rich richer?
Now, do you have an educated opinion on any of those bills including your reasoning that shows why tax cuts don't create jobs? I would ask you to list a few of the plans obama has presented to congress to create jobs and stimulate the economy but he hasn't provided any. And of course that is bush's fault just like everything else.
For once you are correct...None of those bills do anything other than cut taxes and reduce regulations. Thank you for the correction.
I also agree that some tax cuts can create jobs, though many absolutely not. When Bush cut taxes, jobs did not follow. When the feds had tax forgiveness for International corporations, the corporations pocketed the profits. And while a tax cut may create a job it often does so at a net loss to funding government.
The Bush tax cuts resulted in deficits that have lasted forever (not helped by putting the costs of two wars on a credit card).
I noted a few of the Presidents jobs proposal above, you should take a minute and read.

Regarding the NY tax cuts, keep in mind that states set and change tax rates frequently. to balance growth with funding necessary services. there is not "right formula" for state taxes, just adjustment to their realities of growth and budgeting.

I like economics and think we are fortunate we have had better economic policy since the Great Recession than our European friends who followed the austerity path to repeated recessions and negative growth. Did you know that the IMF predicts negative economic growth in several European nations this year, while US growth should be between 3-4%?
Not bad at all for the US. You have to love the innovation here, it is so much a part of our national character.
1137  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP: Obama's Failed Economy after 5 Years on: June 17, 2014, 05:12:31 PM
Having plans means nothing if you haven't got the power to implement them. okay, we should certainly give him a chance to further prove that, given enough time, he can indeed be considered the worst president based on the time he had to accomplish it. We don't have to prejudge this based on his not having had enough time yet to qualify and use the experience we have already witnessed. He can still do more damage.
His plan to save our economy was the stimulus plan, that failed. So what other plan did he have for the economy ? When did he have a budget that passed the senate ? What plan does he have for keystone ? What plan did he have to deal with Syria and the chemical weapons and why did that plan fail? What plan does he have for the current attack on iraq ? Other than to order his team to come up with options while he plays golf, what plan does he have? What plan does he have for the border and the tens of thousands of illegal aliens coming here to get the amnesty obama promised them? What are the plans to employ all those illegal aliens so they aren't on welfare living off the tax payers who are already taxed to the max? You claim he had so many plans that would save our economy and get it going so name a few dd.  Or perhaps you could take a few of the jobs bills the House passed and explain why the senate has refused to address them and then post the jobs bills the senate passed and show how many of those are sitting in the House. Put your money where your mouth is instead of passing off the old talking point lies.

House Republicans have passed 40 jobs bills that are currently stuck in the Democrat controlled Senate.

Empower Small Business Owners
Small business owners are being bogged down by burdensome regulations from Washington that prevent job creation and hinder economic growth. We must remove onerous regulations that are redundant, harm small businesses, and impede private sector investment and job creation.

Reducing Regulatory Burdens Act
H.R. 872 – Senate has taken no action to date

If the goal is to make the rich richer, these bills could do that very well. Is that a good goal?
1138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran actress scandal?? on: June 17, 2014, 05:09:58 PM
It is definitely massive over reaction by the Iranians.. When one steps out in the world to create a place for himself he has to break his shell and tune in with everybody.. If he doesn't, he wont be able to succeed, and this holds true especially in case of the entertainment industry..
Anyways, latest update is that she has apologized saying that her act was fruitless and she treats the person like her grand father..
1139  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP: Obama's Failed Economy after 5 Years on: June 17, 2014, 04:51:13 PM
Truth is I think the President has done a good job on the economy with zero help from republicans.

But truth is you really don't care about income inequality...you just like to attack the president on any issue. I had little doubt you would have no offer of ideas.
1140  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP: Obama's Failed Economy after 5 Years on: June 17, 2014, 04:30:37 PM
Just curious since you express interest in income inequality and cite Obama as part of the problem. What solutions do you advance for this issue? What is it Obama should be doing here specifically?
Oh, I bet you are curious...  It helps distract you from the fact you are a blind partisan who can't actually defend Obama or his economic policy failures.
lol...here I was all set to hear your solutions.

1. Try to lower the unemployment rate.

2. Try to lower the medical insurance premiums, and make them at par with the rates in EU.

3. Don't waste trillions of $$$ on waging wars. Instead, use that money to give education and employment to the poor people.
Your right on lower the premium medical insurance.....but on the war part...that won't happen soon...USA will alway be "in war" with someone.
