1121  Local / India / Re: 30% TDS on online gaming on: May 21, 2023, 02:47:46 PM
I am not sure whether it has been implemented or not but for skilled online gaming, the government had proposed a reduction. From 30 percent it was proposed to 18 percent. As I am not into any kind of online gaming I do not understand what it meant by skilled gaming.

Quote

This news came out last month. The thing is that government does not believe that cryptocurrency does not require any skills. That is why we are still in the highest tax bracket.

There are basically 2 types of games which are luck based games and skill based games.
Luck based games does not require and effort and it's just more of guessing the outcome such as playing a dice game.
All other games are skill based games and requires some kind of skill and effort to win the game such as playing poker or any other cards game.

As far as taxation is considered I had received this mail from cleartax and a flat 30% TDS will now be applicable on net winnings from any kind of games.
It won't change anything for gamblers using cryptocurrency because a flat 30% tax on profits is any how levied on crypto income.
1122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think Casinos Should Do Survey From Time To Time To Assess You. on: May 21, 2023, 02:39:34 PM
In light of two cases about casinos being charged for not stopping one player from playing past his betting threshold and from one demanding one casino to return his losses because of VPN issues.

Do you think casinos should implement a survey assessment from time to time to assess gamblers if they are comfortable spending more and if they are using VPN all the time even if they allow the use of VPN.

This is for the casinos to avoid issues in the future when players look for loopholes to regain their losses by charging them in court.

In a must win match situation rain have interrupted in Chinnaswamy stadium which is the venue of the match between RCB and Gujarat Titans. In such hard situation luck isn't favouring RCB. The rain needs to stop at the earliest, if not the over reduction and pitch changes will surely make big impact on the match. If the match gets cancelled, one point will be shared to each team and this ends RCB with 15 points and Mumbai Indians easily qualify for the playoff as they've reached 16 points with the win against SRH.

It's definitely an important match for RCB and it looks like luck is with them because the toss is done and Gujarat Titans has chosen to bowl first.
Let's see how the weather holds up and if RCB is able to bat well in such weather conditions.
This will be an interesting match to watch and I hope the weather doesn't disturb the match anymore.

A gambler made 163 bets in a day and the the casino said it acceptable. Because for some high-rolling gamblers, losing around one-third of a bankroll is considered acceptable.  This gambler is in court. He accuses the operator of failing to stop him, which led to a substantial loss. He said that, "the betting activity didn’t raise any red flags at Bet365, and if it did, it didn’t raise them high enough. It took the operator two months to step in after the massive deposit to verify the source of funds, at which time he was already down £46,907 (US$58,657)."

It should be noted that this is not the first instance of a gambler suing a gaming operator for their losses. In this instance, a gambler claimed that despite having the tools at their disposal, the gambling operator had not done enough to curb his gambling problem. This gambler could spend up to €21,135 (US$21,135) per day and, ultimately, lost €271,234 (US$271,234) in seven months.

What is the maximum number of bets that one can place per day, and do casinos have a system in place to identify any unusual spikes in a user's daily betting activity? Would it be regarded as a component of the casino's responsible gambling policy or as interfering in someone else's affairs it they lock the  gambler's account?

Was the gambler testing the site or what ? If so then that's really a bad way of doing it.
I think it's the gambler's mistake since he was the one who deposited such a huge amount on the gambling site.
If he wouldn't have done that then he would have lost so much at first place.
On top of that he is also accusing the site for not alerting him? That sounds ridiculous doesn't it?
1125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Things that still make feel awkward with some online casinos on: May 20, 2023, 03:54:07 PM
There is one thing I know about online gambling deposits and withdrawals, you don't have to use Bitcoin by force, if Bitcoin transaction fee is too high you can go with altcoins, it shouldn't matter to you since you are planning to gamble with the money..

If you plan to withdraw in BTC from a online casino and the fee is too high you can still use another withdrawal option like altcoins too or in USD if you care less about privacy, some online casinos do have high gas fee like you said but once you find them out you can avoid them.

The reason we decide to gamble on a particular online casino is because of the fun and experience,  if I am satisfied with the functionality of a online casino and it has high withdrawal fee I will choose to stay so far they have other ways that I can use for withdrawal.

That's a good option for sites which has an in-house exchange from one coin to another.
There are some gambling sites which doesn't have an in built exchange and we can only withdraw the coin to the same network.
In such situations the problem persists and I think the only solution is to find an alternative platform which serves your needs.
1126  Local / India / 30% TDS on online gaming on: May 20, 2023, 03:06:27 PM
I live in India, and the government has implemented a new policy regarding online gaming winnings.
They have introduced a 30% upfront tax on net winnings for individuals engaged in online gambling.
While this is a significant change, it is aimed at ensuring taxation compliance and contributing to the country's revenue.
However, it is important to note that this policy might influence the online gaming landscape in India.

Pretty good odds for BTC price betting this time with the expected range of $27500 - $30000 giving return of 2x .
Currently BTC price is at $26900 which makes it in the range of $25000 - $27500 which is giving around 3x returns.
Let's wait a few days to see how the odds change and whether it's favorable to bet on BTC price this time.
1128  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is this considered a safe practice on: May 19, 2023, 04:08:49 PM
Is it safe or dumb to use your Credit card for online gambling because of free bonus rewards on signup and initial 3 months purchase? Will you take such risks with your card for such rewards? A friend informed me that some casinos gives better reward if you have a credit card with high credit score at around 800, he mentioned how he make 200$ from Freedom Flex after using over 600$. He also mentioned other like capital one

What are the disadvantages of using a credit card on online casinos? Any? Would you dare do such to earn more money?

First and foremost thing is using credit card for online purchases is itself a risky thing since that opens up to frauds.
As far as using it for gambling then even that is risky because we never know if the casino site is really secure or not.
Besides that, the site can simply store your details without your consent and then sell the data to other companies.
Also, the site might become a victim of an attack and your details might get stolen which again put you at risk of fraud.
1129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is "dying". on: May 18, 2023, 05:32:04 PM
Even if bitcoin was created to be used as currency, it has now found a different purpose and there's nothing wrong it.
While it is mostly used as an asset these days it still has the capability of being used as a currency, although most people use it as a store of value.

There are many such things which were created to serve one purpose but ended up being used for different purposes.
Example: Viagra was created to treat cardiovascular conditions but ended up as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.
Another example: Baking soda was originally used for baking and cooking but is also used in things such as cleaning.
It doesn't mean bitcoin is dying but has found a new purpose.

After all the buzz, the post has been deleted finally. Even I keep reporting the posts which I come across as not relevant to the board or forum.
Most of it are handled quickly. Although very few are unhandled yet I have managed to report few posts and here's my history

Code:
You have reported 127 posts with 96% accuracy (117 good, 6 bad, 4 unhandled)

At least 25% would be in the Indian board alone. As far as moderation is considered, it's being done correctly for the posts we report.
Only thing is that we don't have an active moderator which I think is not required as long as the engagement is low on this board.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
In the match between these two teams, Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to bowl after winning the toss. Now Sunrisers Hyderabad come to bat. Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 101 runs in 12 overs. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost 2 strong wickets. They still have a lot of overs and wickets in hand.  If Sunrisers Hyderabad can play well then they can make 170 runs in this match. Royal Challengers Bangalore is bowling very weakly in the bowling line.

While they have bowled weakly, they are batting good. Current score is 141 without losing any wicket.
They need 42 runs from 32 balls and I think they will be able to achieve that easily.
RCB is going to win this match. A great time for RCB supporters finally.
1132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there play and pay later casinos? on: May 18, 2023, 04:58:59 PM
It's been a year and half that I talked last with a family friend who is living in North America and finally, he replied my messages after so many sms sent out to his number, he told me about how he own 60k in gambling and I somehow feel sorry for him but at the same time I doubt this, because I don't see anyone talking about gambling debts before.

To play in any casino you have to come with your money or asset, or are there any casinos that allow play and pay later? Or I am thinking if maybe he used a credit card for gambling? We all know that debt is possible on cards..

I know some people likes taking loans or borrow money, but I know him too well, he always advice us to never take any loan for anything.

I know some are wondering why I don't ask him, he is way older than me and I don't want to ask him, I only told him to take things easy with himself, I don't know if asking can make him feel bad even more.

So is gambling debt one way or other possible without the person taking loan or borrowing money?

One thing I can assure you is that if you gamble by taking loans, you will undoubtedly end up in a crisis.
While you might experience occasional success, consistent borrowing and subsequent losses will lead you into trouble.
Not only will you lose what you already have, but you will also accumulate debt that will require hard work to repay.
This situation is highly unfavorable, and many individuals have already encountered it, which is why it is advised to only bet what you can afford to lose.
1133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don't gamble if you don't have patience on: May 18, 2023, 03:40:04 PM
This happened to me already twice in a row. I'm gambling for a long time but this is the first time I experience this kind of messy situation because it involves the fck up mempool.

I deposit my funds in a casino using a low-priority fee. I managed to triple my bankroll by playing a quick game of Blackjack with huge bets. But since my deposit is so frickin slow to confirm while I don't want to bump my fee since it will create a different transaction on my account. Due to my winning streak while still waiting for many hours, I decided to just play slowly using a 1$ bet. This 1$ bet grows to all-in because I just keep losing for an insane lose streak just because I can't withdraw my funds.

Sharing my personal experience of my recent losses so that no one will commit this same mistake. Bet responsibly. I will stay away from gambling for a while now that mempool is starting to suck once again.

DON'T GAMBLE IF THE INSTANT WITHDRAWAL IS NOT AVAILABLE!

LOL  Grin That sounds funny.

You deposit and play instantly and win nice profits and then lose money by placing a small bet and chasing losses.
It's quite common though and not only patience but you need to be wise enough and set your budget so that you don't lose more than you can afford to lose.
Also, you can set a timeframe until you which you can allow yourself to gamble after which you should completely stay away from gambling for the day.
Create your own strategies to gamble within limits and you will be actually able to enjoy gambling.

[King Dice] Deposit $10 and Get $50 extra Plus 50 free spins!

Why don't we get similar bonuses on Freebitco.in?
I understand that the other partnered sites are relatively new and need promotion, but it's always enjoyable on Freebitco.in.
Providing additional bonuses would encourage users to use the site more and give them a sense of joy.

Of course, we would wish to get our money back, but once it is gone from our hands, it cannot be recovered.
This is a classic trick used by scammers to deceive beginners in gambling.
They attract them by making them win money in the beginning and then take it away in one shot.
That's why having presence of mind and self-control is a necessity to survive in today's world.

3. What jobs?

Out of everything, this is actually the one which is a good alternative (if you have the required skillset).
There are projects out there in search for skilled developers, designers, moderators, support etc...
All these could be a good job for which you can get a decent crypto income.
Providing your own services for crypto is also a good option though.
1137  Other / Meta / Re: Poll on solving the imgur issue on: May 17, 2023, 04:21:27 PM
There are a lot of broken imgur links. How do you think this should be resolved? I've come up with these possible solutions:

1: Do nothing. People will have to edit past broken images and use different image-hosting services going forward.

2: Make it so that all past imgur embedded images show up as a clickable link instead of as an embedded image, as if the poster had just posted the imgur link instead of using the [img] tag. I could also maybe make it so that if you click the link, it will JavaScript-expand into an embedded image (using the specified width etc.) without going through the image proxy.

3: Exempt imgur links from the image proxy so they all just work. But this has privacy implications, since imgur will see forum users' IPs. Also, imgur has apparently banned a lot of Tor exit nodes etc. as well, so imgur images won't work for everyone.

4: Exempt imgur links from the image proxy as above, but prevent using imgur embedded images in any future posts, to sort of phase it out.

We never know what additional restrictions Imgur may impose on us and therefore, I believe that we should avoid using it in our future posts.
My ideal choice would be to exempt the previous posts and restrict the use of Imgur for future posts.
Fortunately, we have Talkimg by Joker_Josue, which is an excellent alternative for hosting images.
Additionally, the script by TryNinja has helped many of us to replace our existing images with the ones hosted on Talkimg.
So we do have that option as well for the previous posts.
1138  Other / Meta / Re: [Script] Imgur to TalkImg - automatically fix your broken images on: May 16, 2023, 01:10:42 PM

snip

Of course, I set the parameters correctly with a freshly generated API from a new account.

I finished uploading every possible image to talkimg, only a few left above the 2MB threshold, so I wanted to have a second round with imgbb.

Apparently still the uploading error I had the other day

Code:
[Error] Origin https://bitcointalk.org is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin. Status code: 502

Error 502 means that there's an error from the server side. When I digged up I found that we get this error when appropriate CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) headers are not set on the domain.
So the API request in the above script is being blocked by the browser and there are only two solutions for this.

1. The server side configuration has the appropriate CORS headers set and allows requests from bitcointalk
2. Get a proxy or server side endpoint which allows us to bypass CORS restrictions

So I guess it won't be possible on imgbb since we don't have anyone from server side to allow the above configuration.
May be joker_josue can help in here to increase the max limit size for the uploads or provide specific endpoint which allow increased max limit size to specific users.
1139  Other / Meta / Re: [Script] Imgur to TalkImg - automatically fix your broken images on: May 16, 2023, 04:08:43 AM
I get the same error messages after a half dozen pages:

A new error with imgbb.

May be because you are using imgbb to upload the images. I just completed all my uploads using the script and it was flawless.
I changed the providers to talkimg and then started uploading and in few minutes it was done.

Code:

    // options
    const startPage = 1
    const provider = 'talkimg'

1140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2.4% People from Bangladesh Hold Cryptocurrency on: May 15, 2023, 04:42:17 PM
That was my surprise when I last time read this. This was a few months back when I read in one of the local newspapers where they mentioned around 4 million Bangladeshi people use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I didn't believe in that stats but today once again I found the same stats on another website namely Triple A, I have no idea about them. According to them, 2.4% of people are holding cryptocurrency in Bangladesh which I think is impressive. No matter whether most of them have invested just because they are greedy. Still, it's a piece of great news in my opinion. Bangladesh is one the countries where using Bitcoin is declared illegal by the government. But this number/stats say something we are going to get in the very near future. There was a discussion regarding cryptocurrency between some employees from Bangladesh Bank. They were hinting Bangladesh may legalize Crypto within 2/3 years. Maybe finally, it's happening.

Interesting news. I didn't know my neighboring country has acquired some bitcoins as well.
It's good to know that 2.4% of it's population are into crypto and I wish the number keeps increasing every year.
Bhutan has also been into crypto under the hood and is mining bitcoin [local board discussion]
While India has been into crypto and declared 30% flat tax on it many individuals have stopped using crypto yet the number of people using it remains significant.
I hope the tax rate decreases which will further boost the use of crypto in India.
