1141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anti-Orphan (51%) attack... (Natural or actual attack) on: June 09, 2013, 05:40:19 PM
You MINE in CGminer, to your "wallet", which is the "server/daemon". Your mined rewards go directly into your wallet, as the header, the first-transaction of every block is YOUR 25BTC reward. (Or your pools wallet, if you mine in a pool.) You CAN use a headless wallet, called a daemon... but it is still a wallet. It has your wallets-public/key and address and private/key.

NOTE: I am just getting frustrated that I can't mine FTC or LTC, due to these recent hold-ups... They "SAY", we are mining the real block... but everything is returning as "orphaned", thus, not giving credit... or apparently not giving credit... and no-one is saying "Yes, it will go through, once the fake chain is gone."

So little two-way communication between the wallet/network and the actual miner/program... You don't even know it is failing, until you waste half a day and ultimately see no results, then you still have to figure-out why there are no results, which is impossible, due to the lack of actual feed-back or information as to the failure. Just shut-down and restart, and HOPE it works the next time... (Gotta wait a day to find out again. Such a poor design. A simple "test" dummy block would immediately let you know, something is wrong, before "trying" to hash away, failing, due to a code-glitch that never indicates it is actually failing.)
1142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Anti-Orphan (51%) attack... (Natural or actual attack) on: June 09, 2013, 05:34:39 PM
I am just thinking out-loud here, and I may be completely off on this possible suggestion... (as always). Tongue

But...

If the wallets/servers/programs were setup to only allow a stack of 8 blocks, before they have to "get a new block, with a non-ME header"... That would ensure that 51% was not possible, would it not? EG, If I mine with my army-o-miners, and start a fake-block and hit block #8, the network will just reject the addition of block #9 with that same "miner account" as the first transaction. Thus, no-one "adding to the fake chain", which is causing all the "valids from the real chain to become an orphan".

Going a step further... If you force a "reject" of a double-block mined by the same "wallet"... That would auto-round-robbin the entire chain. Thus, once you "hit a block", you have to wait for anyone-else to have found the "next block", then you can start mining again. (That would also force large single-wallet pools to create multiple wallets, thus, again, ensuring that no 51% attack was possible, unless there were only two miners/wallets running at the same time.)

The chances of hitting two blocks in a row are slim. The wait-time for a new block to be available is not a major loss, and ensures that even less losses from 51% and orphans.

(NOTE: A maliciously created server/wallet that "allows" these blocks to happen, would not function when the others have these limitations set in place. That would cause the fake block to continue to be mined alone, never getting past that 8th block. He/she can mine away all day, nothing would ever confirm.)

Also, why is it when an "orphan" is found... do the wallets/servers not "grab another chain", that is not orphaning... or "force a chain revalidate", to detect and kill the fake chain, before it grows. (Kill = ignore it as a group/network.)
1143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ***Mincoin Mandatory Update*** ***Difficulty Re-Target Changed*** on: June 09, 2013, 04:23:07 AM
Total fail now... links all point to crap that doesn't work. Seems they only have it working for themselves, mining all the coins... again... All ten linux users.

Another-one bites the dust... dust-coin or bust.

0.6.3 beta = fail, will not even connect
0.6.4 beta = fail, will connect but 100% reject rate

The "links" point to 0.6.3, the ones that actually point to anything that runs. (Links to incomplete projects, links to failed GUI's links to failed binaries.)

dead = dead
1144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][MNC] Vircurpool - MinCoin Pool 3% fee | Now supporting Stratum on: June 09, 2013, 04:16:40 AM
100% reject rate... What did this actually fix?

Someone in the 3-connections is feeding bad block data. Issue resolved, again, by deleting all the block-data, and reconnecting until I got a good reply from the good server.

You need more main servers participating in the block distribution, and something that allows the bad-block data to be removed and replaced with good data. If it is one of your servers, you may have bad RAM or a bad HD sector... be sure you are using "error correction" switches in your compiles for your servers, which should have error-correction memory and HD ability. (If you are running this off a home-PC... just surrender now.)

Finally it is mining again. Try and try again... I think all the evil has been rooted-out.
1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MultiCoin][Stratum+GW] multipool.in - Always mine the most profitable coin on: June 09, 2013, 04:05:18 AM
Mincoin client update... (It is not the one on the front page... you have to get it from one of the pool-operators who created it.)

It says 6.0.3 (oddly enough, but it is actually v0.6.4.0-g9498fec-beta For the QT client GUI) the one on the front page was 6.3.0 which does not seem to actually work. Who knows what is going on there? Another "copy-paste" coin that dies, because no-one actually knows how to program it, that created it from a previously flawed system.

Seems a lot is failing in the any-coin world...

I am solo-mining, difficulty 0.363099 (23.8K)... on CGminer 3.2.0 & 3.2.1 (3.1.0 didn't work)
1146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Sexcoin - coin for adult industry on: June 09, 2013, 02:58:56 AM
NOTE: If using CGminer 3.1.0 upgrade to 3.2.0 or 3.2.1 there is something "broken" in the 3.1.0 version causing lots of stales and invalids and the values actually "confirm" on our side, however, they never get accepted by the new mining-servers/wallets.

Major better results. (I think that may also have something to do with the odd jump, from low to high diff... People still use 3.0.0-3.1.x)
1147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: June 09, 2013, 02:28:15 AM
It was synced... It just goes all weird, saying it is not... trying to download imaginary blocks that don't exist. (Because it never stops mining, just stops accepting any "found block!".

I imagine, if it is not the wallet itself... Then it is someone with a corrupt link on the list of connections. (Thus, a purposely crafted exploit, or just another compounded bug, triggering another bug.)

Good to see that the price didn't completely fall through the floor today. Hitting 0.00000915 I hope, is the lowest it will ever go. Someone is cashing-in all those promo-coins, because no-one who worked to mine them, would ever sell them that low. I would hope.

So the focus is on people with ADD who can't wait 5-min for a transfer. That is not exactly a market. I am still waiting to see an actual "market" for these coins. Hell, market it for delivery-tips (fast delivery rewards)... Market it for speed-dating websites... Market it for "faster torrent connections", or "faster TOR downloading"... Market it for faster game-gold delivery... Something...

Put the returns directly into the exchange, to bump-up the value by consuming all these sell-out low prices. I can only buy so-much myself!
1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: June 08, 2013, 07:55:23 PM
New problem...

The wallet constantly keeps "rejecting" after failing, displaying "Out of sync" ~834354 blocks remaining... There isn't even that many blocks!

The wallet then rejects all "found blocks" by me, and just keeps happily churning out work that never has a possibility of being valid.

Is this by design?

You purposely kill our ability to produce after 3-6 hours, so you are the only one able to mine yourself?

I don't have time to baby-sit the wallet for hours on end, just to wait for a mystery failure that does not indicate an actual failure, unless you use your head to realize .... Hey, if this is out of sync, and 834354 blocks don't actually exist, yet it is still letting me mine, but failing all my blocks... Then something is wrong.

Again... premature launch...

Still mining it though, and buying-up coins, because I can. Might as well join the pump!

Nothing, not even a simple hello, or a "Don't worry, we are working on it."... Did you just up and quit, when the reality set in... That you don't know what the hell you are doing, and you suck as a programmer. Hell anyone can copy-and-paste other peoples code. Or were you one of the many suckered into letting some other schmuck design your prefab coin for you... Not realizing that guy doesn't have a clue how to program either?
1149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: June 08, 2013, 11:34:25 AM

Try version 2.0, the faster than fast, waste of time coin.

How much are these selling for?

Edited prior post of frustration, with the "resolution" for "better results". It was a wallet issue... it "needs CGminer 3.2.0 or greater." It should state that, and reject lower versions of CGminer, if they are used.

lol... That was just me frustrated at the dysfunction of sooo many "open-source" programs not working together as expected.

CGminer and Wallets really need to communicate better and perhaps do a simple "test coin" and "test validate" to ensure an actual communication is established between wallet/server and client/miner. It is just a blank screen and "trust me that it is working"... you don't actually know if it is not working, even when it is not working! (Unless it actually posts results from a "valid test" to the client once in a while. That, and the wallet should report the number of connections to it, at the least, to let you know you are actually connected to it, not some mystery connection in lala-land.

I think there are enough "empty coins" on the market. Now they need to market them. Selling back to BTC is not a market. Someone has to actually want to USE the coin and pay cash for it, to be "marketed".

It will be interesting to see where this one goes. Hope there were not too many pre-mined before release. That is NOT a promotion, giving away our future value to "promote" the coin. That only demotes it. You gotta give money for mined coins, to jump-start it as having value.
1150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MultiCoin][Stratum+GW] multipool.in - Always mine the most profitable coin on: June 08, 2013, 10:03:14 AM
P.S. DGC is horribly inaccurate for share estimations and pay-outs...

I have been mining there for a solid hour, still shows I am hashing at 338KHs when I am at 1588+KHs, and shows many blocks "confirmed" in my time period, yet shows 00000 for confirmed for me. I have logs of solid "accepted" shares from 5-6AM which is 18 blocks that are confirmed and 0 reward for all that work from me... (Per block estimate shows as 0.1351)...

I started digicoin and world-coin at the same time... however, worldcoin seems to be reporting correctly, and paying out. World-coin diff shares are 32, digicoin shares are 16... perhaps you "had them at 64", and are calculating them for 1/4 the actual value, which seems about right.

Switching back to worldcoins until the digicoins issue is resolved. (Tried it with a new worker, same results.)

EDIT: Resolved... I was using CGminer 3.1.0 on that machine...

RESOLUTION: Upgrade to CGminer 3.2.0 or 3.2.1... If you notice "shares are missing"... or too many "rejected shares" or "rejected blocks"...
1151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MultiCoin][Stratum+GW] multipool.in - Always mine the most profitable coin on: June 08, 2013, 09:47:10 AM
I have another request for the multi-port settings...

You have it mine LTC, however, it takes HOURS and HOURS of mining, with the current available hashing-power. Sure, you COULD hit a block once you switch everyone over... but you "switch" too fast, to another pool, and leave the actual "mining" to the few who are dedicated miners in that pool. (Eg, you are pool-hopping in a bad way, on your own server.

I would suggest...
1: Do not hop into a pool where you can not find at-least ONE block in 30 minutes. Based off your hashing-power/difficulty of your traveling pool-members + steadfast pool-members. (Eg, if you estimate that your total hashing-power would result in NOTHING found in 4 hours, mining there... then ignore that pool from the hop.)

2: Re-calculate only after 10 minutes, and only AFTER at-least ONE block has been found in the pool you are in now, before hopping to a new pool. Thus, your pool-hoppers will have actually "earned" that collected share value. (As opposed to staying in a pool for 10 min, not having found anything, switching, and HOPE that someone still there mining, does find a coin, and now has to split it with the swarm that just sucked-up his/her efforts.)

3: Offer us an "auto-convert", for those coins we don't actually want, into a coin we do want... (LTC/BTC, etc...) You could do that internally, though a little complex, it saves us from having to collect coins we don't wish to support. Plus, gives us the "immediate" reward for the "mining value" which we were mining for.

4: Don't move both pools at once, stratum and getwork. Move getwork first, since there is that delay... then move stratum, or create another pool to split the larger stratum, and delay each entry/exit from pool to pool. Makes less of a "shock" to the system and traffic-collisions/routing.

5: Since "you" are moving us... you should get that PPS&PPLNS with a 50/50 setup done, ASAP. Since PPLNS is intended to STOP pool-hopping. (I would not do PPS 100% until another 100-200MHs are added to the pools. They are coming soon! You just have to creatively show them the value over BTC and LTC mining... In your signature perhaps... Simply show/say... 3200KHs = $550 USD a month, mining scrypt-coins at MultiPool.)
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: June 08, 2013, 08:08:57 AM
Well, something is wrong with the mining program.

Hashing with 3200KHs and 0.21606607 difficulty, I should be getting close to 3968 coins an hour, or 124 blocks an hour... That would be great, because that is $461.14 a month. However, that is not what it makes at all...

I am seeing 1 block every 2.5 hours... EG, 307 coins a day or 9.6 blocks a day. So much for "fast"... Might as well be mining sexcoins. At-least that has actual rewards and a market.

307 coins a day = $0.4955278404 a day, or $14.865835212 a month... This is lower than namecoins!

Might want to look into that before you start boasting about it... Perhaps try actually programming it, not just changing values that you don't actually understand, and just assume they actually work.

FAIL...

Try version 2.0, the faster than fast, waste of time coin.

EDIT: Found out the issue for me... Update to CGminer 3.2.0 or 3.2.1 (I was using 3.1.0 and that seems to produce crap.)
1153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Fastcoin - FST - The Fastest coin so far in the market - is launched!! on: June 08, 2013, 06:02:34 AM
Once there was a coin who invested millions to target specific individuals, over a year before actual release. It made millions and millions in the first year, and toppled into the billions, in years that followed...

It was paypal.

They had more than a name and a logo... They had markets ready to use the coin, individuals lining-up to join, and the promise of speed was not even mentioned... because it didn't have to be mentioned. Speed was never the issue, it was, and still is, "security" and "validity".

With only a few confirms, and rapid blocking (also rapid orphaning and rapid rejects and rapid double-spends)... Where is the "gain", for the individual to use this? They get 2,000 coins one day, fast... only to find that the deposit was fraudulent, and removed a week later, when the network ten-million orphaned stacks finally catch-up and correct themselves, and all preceding transactions, thus, hurting everyone who spent and re-spent and re-spent that "fast transaction" that didn't have a "confirm" matched to the "speed of the coin".

So off I go to mine some "fast coins"... Before they disappear fast!

Agreed, horrible logo...

Try using something not so horribly incorrect and cliche (Clea-shay) {Stereotypical}...

Perhaps a simple stop-watch (To represent fast-time), or a snail... because that would be ironic.

What is your target audience for this coin? What market are you actively pushing this coin into? What support are you offering? What promotion are you maintaining? Will you be buying our first million coins from us, to "give it a stable launch price"?
1154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ***Mincoin Mandatory Update*** ***Difficulty Re-Target Changed*** on: June 08, 2013, 05:23:45 AM
Updated client reported those results...

Had to delete everything except my wallet, and let it rebuild from scratch... Seems the "code" is bugged, trying to handle forks. Might want to add an option to "Repair Block-chain", which simply rebuilds the chain from the latest valid blocks-up. Thus, also rebuilding the user DB also.

Ok, got it to work, mined for hours, got rejected for every valid block attempted to submit... then today... nothing... no connection to the network.

You need more than one node to keep this thing alive.

So what is the marketing strategy for this coin? Who is the target audience?

I would think this would be great for adding to a forum's "Reputation" payment integration. (Lots of these forums have ghetto coin-rewards or forum-currency.) That would help get a constant "Flow" of coins in circulation.

Being just a shadow of a soon to be shadow-coin (BitCoin), is not enough to "be". Bitcoins were intended to be a mini-coin. They screwed that up, when they all got greedy, and let pool operators dictate things like minimum transactions, and fees, which were NOT intended to be "enforced".

Hope it connects soon... I got a few people to add to mining. You also need to add some pool-contacts and encourage more people to use the other forum. That other forum makes the coin look dead... "MincoinTalk"...

How the heck do we setup multiport for scrypt and sha-256 at the same time. (Terracoins are sha-256 and run like crap with sha-256 settings... not to mention, cgminer is setup for scrypt for the login...)

Just curious, because that would result in possibly valid scrypt-hash-shares being returned if you check them for scrypt-validity, but would never result in a valid sha-256 block ever being found.

Or am I missing something, like a special tool that connects and auto-switches video-card profiles/settings and miner-types from scrypt to sha-256?

Personally, I would drop terracoins, because they are sha-256, and will soon be invaded by someone with an ambitious THs army, to pump-n-dump BTC that is failing them in the future. Thus, degrading any holdings and earnings for us GPU and CPU scrypt-miners.

You have a theme, stick with it. "Scrypt-Mining" Get every scrypt-mined coin that exists, to be included in your pool. (Once you get that new server setup.)

FYI: You can buffer and compound multiple DB updates to the same table, if you use temp-tables to "hoard" the micro-updates. (Talking about shares that are slightly smaller and more realistic to less-loss.)

Another trick is to use PHP's built-in MySQLite as the unhindered multi-table. Every Nth or EndRound, you make one update to the real database, which could be a remote DB sent just the table-update info. Since it is just WRITE/APPEND and not REPLACE/UPDATE, for share counting.
1156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ***Mincoin Mandatory Update*** ***Difficulty Re-Target Changed*** on: June 07, 2013, 11:21:40 AM
I have 6.3.0 and it is stuck at block 75051 and will not update to block 80508...

What is going on?

It starts-off saying "up to date" at that block... then after a minute, it is suddenly "out of date" and just does nothing... shows that 2755 blocks are needed to download, but nothing ever comes. Only getting three connections, apparently dead connections not sharing anything?

Amazingly, it still allows me to mine... Am I mining under block 80508, from 75051? That could make it real difficult to ever "fix" any forks, if it allows people to mine from pre-forked blocks that are not at the ends??? Or is this what a fork looks like... only block 75051 is the "real block", and 80508 is the one you are trying to kill?
1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: June 07, 2013, 05:40:31 AM
This still needs to know "OUR" hash-rates...

There is no "standard" for hash-rate conversion from sha-256 to scrypt...

EG, My equal hash-rates for one (wattage - target @ 680w x3 7970's) yields 1950MHs for sha-256, and 1550KHs for scrypt. (Just can't seem to break that limit on scrypt.)

However, now, with all the new ASIC's coming to the real-world... That won't take long to be a useless calculation, as almost all sha-256 profits will be falling sharply compared to scrypt. But I still feel that critical comparison is more relevant than any pre-calculated average you may get as an individual.

Also, knowing the "spot-price" of anything is irrelevant to "rolling-average"... Including the "difficulty", not just the "price". (Difficulty on "new coins", jumps around a lot, with everyone switching to what they believe is "profitable", based on this horrible calculated information.)

Love the fullness of the charts though! Now you need a pool-contact list for each coin. One that shows pool-info like bitcoin pool-stats does. One per pool, and perhaps a "per coin" value to show "volume of miners", mining each coin. (supporting each coin.) If you have an API from each pool, that is not hard to calculate. Just ask someone, or a few of us... for validation of others api-info.

Shut the F**K up...

Where would you expect collectibles to be sold?

You don't want them, then don't buy them. What makes you think people here are listing them there anyways? Like this is the only alt-coin forum and users that ever existed.

You do realize that individual users are in the millions and millions, right... so this forum with how-many members... (Actual real members that are not bots or alt-accounts.) Is only a tiny fraction of the users of coins, that exists.)

But I digress...

What is your actual issue? That others are selling them for more than you can make at an exchange? That only makes the exchanges look like a better deal, and gives value to the coins you are mining, trading, selling.

So I repeat... Shut the F**K up!
1159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Sexcoin - coin for adult industry on: June 07, 2013, 04:43:49 AM
The mining is so good right now, there is no reason to join a pool for this.

Solo-mine to reduce the branching caused by dominant pools. You become part of the solution, not part of the problem doing that.

Convince other pool operators to add it, and get listed here. (Front page.)

As for the topic about... "You need to be an adult to USE/MINE..." That is incorrect. It is not the coins job to validate age. That is a process left to the shops. Just as you don't have to be 18 to use a credit-card, or cash, or condoms, or birth-control. It is the store that accepts your "currency", that has to validate your age. (Legally, a simple agreement/disclaimer is all that is required. Some places use a credit-card as proof, but anyone can walk into walmart and get a pre-paid credit-card, and most teens have credit-cards now. Thus, not a legal grounds for "proof" of age.)

But I digress...

Mine away and store them like squirrels do. If you want to encourage use, before exchanges accept them... Make public offers, and link to them in here. Better yet, setup an exchange yourself, if you have the knowledge. (Do not attempt an exchange with a "one-click-website" toy... those are the most insecure things in the world.)

You can always put something comical in your signature, and lead back here... "I need my sexcoins!" (LINK)

It is safe to say that BTC is headed into a state of WTF, where did my value go!

Every alt-coin is on the rise (scrypt-based).
