1141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Daily reminder: The covert ASICBOOST scam is not fixed with segwith hardfork on: May 29, 2017, 12:42:01 PM
The frankenstein NYC 2MB+segwit HF does NOT fix the covert ASICBOOST scam which is the last thing Jihad Wu wants to lose.

The only way to fix this mess is by means of softfork segwit. Whoever opposes to softwork segwit is under Jihad Wu's paycheck.

If segwit is not activated before august 1st, UASF will kick in and then the rest of the miners, merchants, and users will have to choose between ASICBOOSTcoin and Bitcoin (with segwit activated).
1142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / UASF and signature campaings on: May 28, 2017, 04:33:26 PM
I was just wondering how is it going to work after august 1st arrives. As we know, there will be a split where you have to choose legacy coins or 148 coins. I wish to see segwit activated for once to get rid of this mess, but im not sure if I want to stay away from the safe option of just holding 50/50 coins. The problem is when you are receiving payments, they will be in either legacy coins or 148 coins...

Is there any way to demand ongoing campaigns to pay you on both chains by delivering two addresses?

In the case you are accepting coins in the wrong chain (specially if UASF actually wins and legacy gets destroyed) you are risking to lose your hard earned money....
1143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoin to buy during this pop? on: May 28, 2017, 03:43:03 PM
My suggestion was supposed to be ETH but I guess it's out of your list, try Nem too and I think Digibyte has the potential too.

ETH is always a good pick, because Vitalik goes around the world shilling it, getting tons of coporate people with a lot of money to pump involved, then there are all the ETH token ICOs surrounding it which further pump the price.

Ultimately I dont trust ETH at all, but I Just want to make more BTC.

The problem is, it's already 100+ USD. What are the chances it hits 1000 vs some other cheap coin hitting 100 or even 10?
1144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoin to buy during this pop? on: May 28, 2017, 02:01:15 PM
Bitcoin is correcting and all altcoins are going into the red, not a single one was able to survive. Now it's time to think what alts to pick before they pump again for more BTC profits before everything continues going up.

I was considering LTC, but if BTC finally gets segwit the whole value proposition of LTC vanishes.

Then ETH with its never ending corporate pumps it's a good idea to hold even tho smart contracts are just a meme.

What else is out there?

Have you heard about Xaurum https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/xaurum/ yesterday amost all altcoins are in red Xaurum is one of  the exception it's an ethereum based token with gold back up they are real company, real people and with attainable roadmap.you should look at it closely, another one is Footabllcoin they are now holding an ico for their token .

All those "tokens-backed-by-something" coins have always end up in disaster, so im not sure about that.

It looks like all coins are green again today. Alts definitely just follow what bitcoin does, including the top5.
1145  Economy / Economics / A nice pic showcasing why you should hold BTC longterm on: May 28, 2017, 12:17:06 PM

It doesn't take rocket science to see why this is the case.

-Limited supply
-First mover advantage (most trusted blockchain, which only gets more trusted as time goes on with no downtime)
-Real organic growth (no other coin can claim this unless they have a time machine, same for the previous point)
-Best developers
-Only safe store of value in the entire crypto system
-Every other alt gets measured against BTC

Buy and hold BTC, and you'll win in the long term.
1146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoin to buy during this pop? on: May 27, 2017, 04:06:39 PM
I can't seem to find a single good coin so i will hold BTC until I find a good deal.

Im still looking at ETH and LTC, if they go "too low", I will buy.

I don't want to be stuck holding some shitcoin that gets nowhere.

If you are going to bring an altcoin then explain why we should even bother.

1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: POSWALLET'S MILLION DOLLAR FRAUD on: May 27, 2017, 01:49:48 PM
Im sure you will be able to solve your situation. I only have had but good experiences with poswallet, they always pay dividends on time. The project has had a lot of FUD because the slack admins are subpar, they should be fired and they should get some native english speakers because trying to argue with staff that speaks broken english is frustrating.

Other than that project is still a good hold, it will pump sooner or later.
1149  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Trying to run UASF node on: May 21, 2017, 03:22:07 PM
Im trying to run UASF node and I used this site to see if it's reachable:

https://bitnodes.21.co/

But it's not working. When I enter my IP, it says "[my ip] is unreachable."

This is strange because I have like 10 people connected to my node... what's wrong?
1150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Miners can MASF, or users will UASF. either way, Segwit activated early August" on: May 20, 2017, 03:34:59 PM

Luke-Jr: "Miners can do BIP148 MASF, or users will do BIP148 UASF. either way, Segwit will be activated beginning August at the latest, and we will have a scaling solution."

Shocked Bullish to say the least.

Bitcoin is going up because people are taking action and finally we see some relevant devs supporting UASF.

Let's hope we all can be enjoying segwit this summer. If miners want to crash the price, they will continue opposing. If they are reasonable, we will see $5000 this year.
1151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think Ethereum could break $1000 as well? on: May 20, 2017, 01:48:27 PM
Maybe, if Ethereum manages to survive as some sort of niche since in the long term Bitcoin will have Rootstock.

But by the time Ethereum is $1000, BTC will be $10,000+, so yeah, you might as well just hold BTC and enjoy the ride.
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PoSW may be the rare opportunity to get rich by entering early on a coin on: May 20, 2017, 12:27:25 PM
POSW at a nice discount right now. It's holding pretty well considering BTC is about to hit $2000 so a small decrease was expected. It's good news for those that are racking up stakes before masternodes are announced in july when a big pump could happen, gotta be ready.
1153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Could Ripple see the same growth as BTC? on: May 19, 2017, 01:23:04 PM
Could Ripple see the same growth as Bitcoins, like going from 0.05$ to almost 2000$ in less than a decade? Could Ripple one day be worth over a 1000$?

Ripple reaching $2000 is nonsense. Does this thing even have a finite supply? it looks like an inflation mess, centralized, and premined, it has no point other than emulate fiat currency. It looks like a living contradiction.

Ripple has no point long term unless the system adopts it as the centralized controlled coin, but it would never be a store of value i would hold long term.
1154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in LTC or BTS on: May 19, 2017, 11:46:07 AM

Litecoin is probably the worst investement you can make of any crypto IMO, specially at this price. Its record as a store of value is abominable and it relies on periodic "resuscitation" pumps just to be kept alive. Have a look at this:

Clearly the place not to buy is right at the top of one of those spikes - or in fact anywhere during a litecoin spike, unless you happen to know exactly where you're going to jump off.

The current pump has nothing to do with scaling. It would be if litecoin implementing segwit could scale bitcoin but it isn't, it's scaling litecoin and so it's no more a driver or value than any other scaleable altcoin is. The reason for the pump (as you can see from that chart) is that whales are accumulating bitcoin, not litecoin and are using the recent addition to coinbase as a basis for fleecing unassuming traders jumping on the bandwagon, just exactly as they did with the previous 'spikes'. Note the lower low every year.

Bitshares meanwhile has potentially massive growth at hand.

The reason is that it's uniquely placed to benefit from the large and increasing demand for fiat-pegged cryptographic assets. Just have a look at Tether's volume to see what the potential is. The problem is that Tether is fiat backed whereas Bitshares is a pure crypto solution backed by a genuine market-driven peg.

No brainer I'd say.

Textbook 101 for investments is the fact that past performance does not guarantee future performance.

You are being blinded by technical analysis and ignoring the fundamentals. The game has changed, now litecoin has a main role since it has segwit and its added in coinbase, and its making milestones like getting on the lightning network as the first coin ever with an actual transaction.
1155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PoSW may be the rare opportunity to get rich by entering early on a coin on: May 19, 2017, 11:08:09 AM
Im not selling dreams here: This (just like any coin) could go to 0 and you could lose it all. Crypto is a HIGH RISK INVESTMENT so be ready to lose it all. BTC is the only conservative investment within the cryptosphere.

The rest are even higher risk. But nontheless, I think from the high risk bunch, this is a good pick to hold and see what happens.

1156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PoSW may be the rare opportunity to get rich by entering early on a coin on: May 18, 2017, 06:01:46 PM
The countdown for the dividends has begun:

http://posw.io/

The dividends get paid with the revenue the site makes, to incentivize people to hodl the coin, without having to resort to a limited deflationary supply like bitcoin.

my posw coins are in yobit exchange wallet.do i still get paid?

No, I hope you moved your coins to poswallet.com or to the windows client to get paid.

I got paid all of my dividends, proving this company is legit, and also proving all the FUDsters that were claiming they would exit scam and not pay dividends wrong.

Also, big news for POSW: Ledger is adding official support for POSW for their wallet:

https://icotimeline.com/ledger-wallet-partnership/

This coin is taking constant, solid steps. It's offering an unique useful service, it's making good deals.

At the max total supply of 70 million, and at a circulating supply of 41 million, this coin is obviously undervalued. People haven't caught up yet with the facts because bittrex/poloniex has not added it yet.
1157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Redpill: Bitcoin is the only chance we have at a cryptographic wealth reserve on: May 18, 2017, 04:24:59 PM
Good points by Tone Vays. The people that think bitcoin is worth centralizing in order to pay coffees on the blockchain need to get their head checked and understand that without a solid, decentralized wealth reserve, the whole crypto thing is over, and bitcoin loses its gold type property without affordable full nodes.
1158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Since when Bittrex asks for name, address... for crypto to crypto trading? on: May 18, 2017, 02:43:13 PM
maybe they now do but i have been with them since time and they don't verify whether i'm real.

but why don't you use a name that's somehow believeable and have some documents for it. there's also cryptopia which don't care whether who you are.

How can I use a name that's "somehow believable" and have documents for it? That's nonsense.

Anyway, I tried entering fake data and I got rejected. They check against public records. This is bullshit. Fuck bittrex and fuck poloniex for their lag. The rest of exchanges have no volume so it's useless, can't find good buy orders.

Im trading on Bittrex.for around two months and have not ask for my address or any id. Luckily i just register there early. Anyway, that's sad because only few exchanges are decentralised. My suggestion is to give your identity. If you're not doing anything bad. Why not give your id?

How does your account look like in "account information"? Do you have the "DIGITAL TOKEN TRADING" box empty?

And i dont want to enter information because I dont trust the exchanges or anyone on the internet.

Unfortunately that is the way tings are heading. Look at Coinbase and the IRS problems. The solution is a DECENTRALIZED exchange like Bitsquare.  There is also some new decentralized technology for trading coming out. This is really awesome:

https://media.consensys.net/introducing-swap-a-protocol-for-decentralized-peer-to-peer-trading-on-the-ethereum-blockchain-d4058f3179cf?gi=b899128450da

"Unlike ShapeShift, Swap users can set prices and make orders, and have the ability to fill orders from multiple counterparties. Unlike 0x, Swap users are matched on intent to buy or sell, rather than trading on a public order book...."

We need a proper replacement for exchanges like poloniex, where we can trade at big volumes, set orders, tons of altcoins... bitsquare is ultimately just a marketplace, it's not a true exchanger with a brooker and tons of action happening.

We will have that maybe in the future with lightning network contracts.

Im getting sick of Poloniex's lags so I searched for an alternative and the only alternative is Bittrex because the rest of exchanges no volume.

Turns out Bittrex is asking for all of that data and checks it on a public record:

Quote
How do you verify accounts?

Basic accounts require users to submit their name, address, and birth date to us.  We verify it through public records.  If we can verify you through public records, we will accept your application for a basic account.  If public records do not match you can also enter a mobile phone number and receive a text to become Basic verified.  If that fails as well you will need to proceed to an enhanced verification.

https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/215282838

I have been using a fake name on Poloniex for ages and they don't care. But in Bittrex it looks like they actually verify it with public records so I don't want to risk getting my funds frozen if they find out I use a fake name and a VPN.

Fuck this. Looks like im stuck with Poloniex.
