1141  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 15, 2017, 03:39:25 PM
Bitcoin price hit a major long term Fibonacci extension at $4400 and is correcting. What else did you expect:) We have not reached the top yet IMO and $5500 -$6000 is my next target. Worst case is we retreat to $3400 before next push up. Charts and reasoning explained in this article. Happy trading!

Polo may not be a scam but most serious traders have moved to other exchanges with proper customer support.
1143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculators - at what price will you sell? on: August 15, 2017, 12:18:33 AM
If you are a speculator you should start selling now before there are no buyers:) Sell a portion each day or week on schedule until you are down to the number of bitcoin you are comfortable holding through a bear market.
1144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculators - at what price will you sell? on: August 14, 2017, 11:50:02 PM
$4400 to $7000 never sell all your bitcoin though.
1145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 14, 2017, 10:14:06 PM
Nicola Duke thinks that if the $4400 level is taken out next stop is $7000. I agree. If you take a look at bitcoin's previous ATH it was halfway between a 4.236 and 6.854 Fibonacci extension of the ATH that preceded it. If you look at the Fibonacci extensions in play now $4400 is important resistance and if taken out $7000 is certainly possible. I have never seen a 6.854 extension in bitcoin take note though. masterluc has mentioned even higher targets that you can see in this Fibonacci extension chart:

These higher targets are low probability though. There is a distinct possibility that the current bitcoin rally can run out of steam between $4400 and $7000 and we would then enter a multi-year bear market. You really want to be mostly out of bitcoin before the next bear market which will be painful. Start taking some profits now. However, there is also a rule to live by: never sell all your bitcoin.
1146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 14, 2017, 02:03:11 PM
This is a call out to any Bitcoin speculators out there, wtf is going on with the upward price movement right now???

I sold at ~$2750 and watched all the way down to $1800 convinced the major correction was underway. I slinked back in after the bounce back up from ~$3000 and expected this rally to be over well before $4000. So now I'm hodling for dear life and awaiting the big red dip down to ~$3500 or lower.

Any thoughts on future short to medium term price action?

Follow a weekly chart of BTC/USD and buy when price gets to the 20 MA. That would have gotten you in at under $1900. Right now 20 MA is $2360. Sooner or later the 20 MA weekly will be broken so don't expect this to work forever.
1147  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am a pro-Core, pro-Segwit small blocker who has a hard decision about BCC on: August 13, 2017, 03:39:02 AM
I tend to agree with most people on this forum, a huge pump is inevitably coming for BCC I cant say when but like everyone else here I can see the miners switching chains with the snap of their fingers if Core doesn't get onboard with 2MB block scenario.

There is more incentive for the Core developers to keep fighting the hard fork to Segwit2x because the miners are gaining more leverage with BitcoinCash around. They need to keep their control as stewards of the network. If Segwit2x is a success and becomes the main chain, Core is thrown out and left out.

I am afraid we are headed for another hard fork. Jihan Wu and Bitmain, along with BitPay and Coinbase are just a few of the 58 companies that signed the NYA. They seem willing to throw out the Core developers in favor of Jeff Garzik's btc1. I would not bet against Bitmain not following through on their commitment.
1148  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Max Security with Online Services like Coinbase Gemini Blockchain.info on: August 12, 2017, 11:53:43 PM
Coinbase recommends you use Google Authenticator rather than Authy. That way your log in is tied to your phone, not your phone number. Having log in secured by a single physical device means you can take your phone with you on vacation and your funds should be safe. When you first set up GA for log in you are given a secret key and told to store in a safe place so if you have to replace your phone you can have seamless access to your account. With the secret key you can restore GA to a new phone. Since you are using your phone to secure your account you may as well use the email you use for your phone.
1149  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [WARNING] be careful about Electron Cash or the fork of Electrum for BCC on: August 12, 2017, 07:05:21 PM
No offense but with both Trezor and Ledger Nano S both supporting BCH now I think you have to be nuts to use Electron Cash. If you can't afford a hardware wallet you probably should not be in the game. At minimum just run your own Bitcoin ABC client.
1150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 11, 2017, 09:37:00 PM
Isn't there a fib level inside 3600?

$3690 Stamp is a short term Fibonacci projection (or extension.) On the monthly chart the longer term extension is $4400; then $7079.
1151  Economy / Speculation / Re: I am a pro-Core, pro-Segwit small blocker who has a hard decision about BCC on: August 09, 2017, 02:54:56 PM
You should hold all your BCC offline in a hardware wallet as a hedge against BTC price crashing. Around November when the hard fork portion of SegWit2X does not happen miners who would like to take over control of bitcoin may just move massive amounts of hashing power to Bitcoin Cash. Time between blocks for Bitcoin will slow more and more till it takes days for a transaction to confirm. Bitcoin Cash will have low fees, quick confirmations and the public may abandon Bitcoin for Bitcoin Cash. Both may exist together for awhile. This is the black swan scenario; hope it does not occur but you should hold your BCC in case it does.
1152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do blocks always take this long?? on: August 09, 2017, 02:34:50 PM
That transaction with the 6.038 sat/byte fee has no confirmations. If you are lucky it could confirm in a day.
1153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do blocks always take this long?? on: August 09, 2017, 01:47:27 AM
My received Bitcoin's block is 14 hours old and there are zero confirmations.   Is this typical of what is going on right now?

https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/tx/ee16b2978947cb2a6d3c27510feba7c0a9601c3491b91caedb8b5fd7be525100/

That was a large transaction (2657 bytes) and fee paid was only 0.00016044 btc when fee should have been 0.002657 btc for quick confirmation.

I thought that tx free looked pretty low.  This Bitcoin was sent to me by Nice Hash.

You should talk to NiceHash about their mistake and get them to push the transaction.

1155  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [NOW AVAILABLE] BTChip / Ledger HW1 : Bitcoin Hardware Wallet in a USB smartcard on: August 09, 2017, 12:51:35 AM
I wanted to buy a Ledger Nano S to replace my HW1, but the only shipping option is UPS express for 179.04 € !

What's up with that? Can't remember the shipping cost on my HW1, but it was a lot more reasonable.

They may be having a glitch with their shopping cart or your country is one where shipping options are limited. Have you checked prices in Amazon?
1156  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: TREZOR Hardware wallets? on: August 08, 2017, 09:24:11 PM
And both are almost impossible to buy immediately Tongue

Although, looking at the shop on Trezor.io today... the shipping date is supposedly August 1st (and the finally have the black one listed! gah!)... compared with Ledger currently being early Sept:
I understand that due to a very high level of demand, my order will not be shipped before: September 4, 2017

At the end of the day, I went with the Ledger... because Trezor didn't have the black available for purchase at the time only white and grey Undecided (and the Amazon resellers with black were asking for 2-3x the price!!?! Shocked)... and, more importantly, the price... I could get the Ledger (including shipping) for less than the cost of just the Trezor (not including shipping) Roll Eyes

The trade-off being that I will need to wait a month longer to actually get it Tongue

I also checked out the digital bitbox, but it seems to lack integration with the wallet(s) I use... as for the KeepKey... well, after the total mess that MultiBit HD has become since they took over, I'd never give them $$$ or trust my coins to anything they touch.

I was almost tempted to buy a "BWallet" (a chinese Trezor Clone) just to have a fool around with the hardware...

The Digital Bitbox is cool, I bought one to check it out. It does not support Bitcoin Cash on the desktop app but the site did provide instructions on how to split your BTC into BCH. Since both Trezor and Ledger Nano S are providing native support for BCH Digital Bitbox has some catching up to do. Cannot recommend at this time.

The advantage Trezor has over Nano S is you can operate it with one hand. It takes two hands to press the buttons on the Nano S. This may not be important to you. KeepKey is quiet lately. They did post an update on BCH support today.

Bcash latest stats:

There have been 235 blocks mined since the hard fork.
(887 blocks behind the original chain)

The Bitcoin Cash blockchain is currently operating at 17% of the original chain's difficulty.

The original chain has grown 900.42MB more than the Bitcoin Cash blockchain.

It is currently 64% more profitable to mine on the original chain.

Getting closer...  the diff adjuster seems to be doing it's job. Hmm....

Looks like another drop in BCH difficulty in 4 blocks according to bch.xbt.it
1158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can Core Counter the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment of Bitcoin ABC? on: August 08, 2017, 02:40:41 AM
@AgentofCoin; @squatter good points well reasoned thank you.
1159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can Core Counter the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment of Bitcoin ABC? on: August 08, 2017, 12:17:29 AM
At this point I am working under the assumption (and I hope I am wrong) that the 2 MB hard fork of the SegWit2X NYA will not happen and the Chinese mining cartel is not really upset because they are planning on using Bitcoin Cash to take over control of Bitcoin. I would be interested in hearing from those who think this poker game will end with Core the winner and why. There is a lot of money at stake here.
