Syncing for ages and still some 6k blocks left.

Anybody spare a few pennies please PSGWzpTwSjXQUBjBdkDUFmKT1TqVqjhywT

You'll take my 2cents and you'll like it!  Grin

The number of blocks left jumped to 9k  Huh

This is very weird. I may never get to mine this at a reasonable difficulty Sad

1164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHICH Processors Will Mine PRIME Coins FASTER?? INTEL OR AMD on: August 06, 2013, 11:00:39 AM
Whatever you do, don't buy a CPU right now for mining. GPU mining for primecoin is coming really soon.

Yes, but even the authors of these coming gpu miners are estimating only 2-3x speeds so multiple cpu is still maybe going to be okay. However wait a little and see i guess.

CPU mining is catching up again. There are CPU only coins being released and you can make a quick profit if you jump in quickly. A cpu may be a good investment.

To get this thread back to a warm fuzzy feeling, I will throw out a few small xpm donations, who wants some ?

Would love to get in on that fuzzy feeling if you have any left.

Any guide on how to generate stake coins?

Anyone?

Oh go on then...

If your HoboNickel wallet in not encrypted with a pass phrase then any balance older than 10 days can mint PoS blocks.

If your HoboNickel wallet is encrypted the padlock text will show 'wallet is encrypted and currently locked'. You can unlock your wallet for PoS minting in the qt client by going to Help > Debug Window > Console and typing the following:

> walletpassphrase yourpasspharse 99999999 true

'yourpassphrase' is your pass phrase and the 99999999 number is just a long time to leave the wallet unlocked.

If you did this correctly the padlock text hover over will show 'wallet is encrypted and currently unlocked', if you have an eligible PoS balance you should see some of you balance move to stake (probably within a few hours, if not its worth restarting the client every 4 hours or so, if your really keen to get your first PoS block). When the PoS block is fully confirmed your balance will be re-credited with the stake and the PoS.

Your eligible PoS balance (coin age) resets when it has been staked i.e. it will take another 10 days to generate more stake from the same balance.

If you don't want to stake all or any of your coins then you can add reservebalance=100 (example) to your hobonickels.conf i.e. if you have a 1000 balance eligible for PoS minting (more than 10 days coin age) if you set reservebalance=100 then only a maximum of 900 of your balance will be staked.

Some PoS coins require a .bat to unlock an encrypted wallet when using 'bitcoind'. Hope that helps.

P.S. If only I could of told my future self in 2009 that in 2013 I'd be mining BottleCaps and HoboNickles... lol  Wink

CryptoHobo FTW !!!  Cool

Thanks Smiley

My wallet is unencrypted. So all I have to do is wait for the 10 days to have passed.

1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EXPOSING PHENIXCOIN: The hype and possible scam on: August 03, 2013, 09:47:23 AM
UPDATE: After I exposed Phenixcoin in the official thread, it seems the developers are finally taking my advice and will be cutting the block reward too. Yesterday their stance on this was:
"Don't get me wrong i understand why everyone is pissed. But we did what we seen we needed to do and now its done."
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266377.msg2852139#msg2852139

But after my big post they all of a sudden chagned their mind: "We understand your concerns, your voice is heard loud and clear.  Our upcoming release will reduce the reward by half."
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211165.msg2856301#msg2856301

Thats a small step towards restoring confidence.

Thanks for the great post. You may have forced them to do the right thing.
1172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] New Client (6.4.9) for PhenixCoin PXC **Difficulty Fix ** on: August 03, 2013, 01:11:39 AM
At least PXC took some steps to correct the error. Though why would they suddenly increase the coins generated is beyond me.

Now they will step back and let their rabid PR guy take over.

Surprisingly I'm getting a few PM's nominating Noirbits and wanting me to finish off Terracoin.

Who's the Noirbits dev?

~BCX~

Noirbits is really nice. Its Barwizi's coin. If you destroy it he may stop doing the daily updates  Sad

I am surprised Phenixcoin is not being mentioned more. A lot of people are very unhappy with the sudden change.
1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Offical launch of PhenixCoin.com on: August 02, 2013, 09:11:57 PM
Nice summary, Bitsinmyhead. You should start a new thread with those posts.

I have been supporting PXC too, but it looks really bad now. I am not selling because I have bought a lot higher and can not accept the loss. There seem to be random pumps so hopefully I will get my chance.

Just downloaded the wallet and saw the difficulty is at 13. Surprising I missed this while it got mined so much.

Would be grateful for any donations MSw5vtFpoQUeFrmGvutmXdZVkE17SviPCf
